main reason this game has e so interested. not the biggest fan of 4x games myself after trying different ones (civ, humankind, endless legend) but the sheer fantasy setting you can create on your own with gettin more attatched to you unit types cause of the unit customisation and lovely colourfull setting

Yup, this game feels much deeper than CIV6 but 10x more fun als less annoying. Very new to the game so not sure about the pace. But so far it just feels incredible. Everything about this game is incredible. I fkn just got it and I'm excited for the dlc I just saw lol
I loved playing AoW Shadow Magic, lots of hours played in that one. Thanks for covering this one, looks really cool, and I had a good laugh at 11:10 "if you don't have any friends"... I always play single player XD.
..." and if you're like me and don't have any friends...." ROFLMAO!!! And the preceding line: (paraphrased) "You could play co-op games if you have any friends..." I was dying!!! :) Zerk, you da man. -fist bump-
I love this game. I have created a myriad of factions and realms. It's a lot of fun, and really cool. I'm especially fond of the Pantheon where if you win you can see your victorious in various campaigns and at the start menu.
Having owned the first two AoW games and always wanting more variety of races this seems like my ideal game. Nice to see you previewing a game from this series and turning me on to the new one. Might have to get this!
I've never been interested in the Age of Wonders series, I played the first one way back when, decided it wasn't for me, and never paid attention to the franchise since then. And then this game came along, and it was flying under my radar for most of it's development........ until I saw that faction creation and customization tutorial they put out and.... I just fucking fell in love. That video was all it took to sell me the game and I've pre-ordered the deluxe edition, I'm counting the hours until next Tuesday so I can properly dig in. This honestly looks insanely fun. Like a mixture of Civ with Heroes of Might and Magic, and a dash of Total War.
As someone who always liked the playstyle of dwarfs and the aesthetic of high elves, that faction customisation alone may have just convinced me to buy it.
This looks great! The only thing putting me off is that it is a Paradox game, as their DLC policy is extremely obnoxious. It's the reason Europa Universalis IV was the last game of theirs I've purchased.
Boys I was on the fence. Spent 50 euro on this game over CK3 (unplayable on console at the moment apparently) and diablo 4. I regretted it my first hour or two. Then it just clicked. I had the one more turn moment and I had to force myself to stop playing. And now I can't stop watching videos about it
There’s a DLC roadmap that looks pretty limited. I don’t think this is going to be an EUIV thing again. Previous AOW games have had very reasonable DLC packs, at least.
@@ryguytrys 4 DLC's year one, paradox is known for 5-10 year game life cycles, assuming the game is a success, 2-4 DLC's a year for at least 3 years is distinctly possible. the premium edition is $40 more for the 4 DLC's plus some additional baubles, following pricing conventions that's likely about half off on each, meaning each of the DLC's will be roughly $15-20. that's $60-80 a year of new content. This is an above average output of DLC content that would put the total price of the game into proper "paradox" price range of roughly $200 for all combined DLC and base game by the 2-3 year mark of development. I understand some people dislike this, but something that is often not discussed is the quantity of content added by paradox DLC releases, often falling into the category of extreme flavor packs that make specific playstyles extremely rewarding but are otherwise unneeded for those who are not interested in using those playstyles, or extremely broad improvements to the game that are well above the average for DLC offerings. Overall I am looking forward to the DLC in this game as it seems poised to offer more options. Through official descriptions, Draconic dawn and primal fury seem poised to either provide or massively expand specific playstyles and may be avoidable purchases for uninterested party's, while the other two seem poised to offer extensive changes to core gameplay across multiple different styles and factions. Anyway, here's my needlessly long analysis of unreleased DLC :p
Game from variative exploration advenutious rpg turn based strategy was turned to 4x buff management game. As I a hardcore fan of Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic - quite a loss I need to say. For example - flying from the whole game dimention was transformed just to movement alteration where flying units could be attacked in melee from earth. Sea transportation where you could destroy a ship by the spell and all units in it would be drowned - is just transformed to embarkment movement modifier. And so on and so on
Pre-ordered it weeks ago. I'm only disappointed that Draconians, which were around since AoW2 as replacements for the extinct Lizardmen (screw Nimue forever BTW), won't be in the 1st DLC for this game. A DLC themed around FRIGGIN DRAGONS to boot.
I loved AOW 3 and Planetfall. Ive been looking forward to this one for a minute and it makes me happy that they reached out to you for it. Can we look foward to more vids from you..... in tha future? 😂

Great game series from past experience, but I don't like that this is an ad as it will be biased. Even though I disliked the video I do hope you were paid very well for this lengthy ad and I also hope this game is actually as good as your ad delivery was.

I hadn't even noticed there was a third one and here is number four. I have fallen off the wagon. Edit: Wait! Did this guy scam somebody into paying him for playing AoW4?
Enjoyed AoE3 quite a bit, though didn't play it as much as I likely should've. Planetfall was fun but hm... Felt a bit lacking? Not sure, just didn't make me wanna play some reason. Maybe the early DLC or something didn't help, idk
Flying Demon Icy Catmen with Fire Weapons were my race of choice. Whatchu gonna make?

I feel like Planetfall's issue was lack of variety, so they responded by throwing a metric f*ckton of choices in AoW 4 and I'm pretty pumped.
The whole thing works better with fantasy setting anyway.
planetfall has good variety actually.

It's a paid sponsorhip/ad by Paradox. Both are great, though, so I'm glad to see it. Zerk's Warhammer videos are arguably the best I've seen.

I like that the game has an auto-resolver that doesn't shaft you.
One question I do have with these transformations and customized units is how the balance is going to be.
Planetfall had pretty good balance.
