Really interesting video, seeing all the ants and brood in the tubes gives a feel for what it would look like in a wild nest. These rubra were the dominating ant species where I used to live and were a force to be reconned with. Excellent video Thank you
Got to love those rubras, so impressive when there the dominant species, I like the way they let so much live though aswell like the woodlice to clean up and so on.
@@Antymatters I wonder if woodlice are difficult or not tasty for ants to eat ? as I gave my Lasius Niger a small woodlouse, a worker carried it to where the queen was she then started waving her antennae around then the worker carried it away, I guess the queen didn't like what she was given for dinner lol
They are doing so well 😃 very jealous .I might need to go rubra shopping 🤔though i promised myself i would just catch my own this year . The view into the Saturn has given me an idea for the way i have been displaying my Saturn's as well . Well for when i have some live ants that is 😄
Glad to see the rubras doing so well, theres definitely more brood in there than there was on your last stream! Its crazy to think that they're gonna grow even bigger, you might even need and extra saturn! Great video as usual mat, cant wait for the giveaway stream!
Such an amazing video about such an owesome ants. I am still on one queen with some eggs but withing 2 weeks there will be workers. You doing great job :-)
Haha only catch is they literally pinch on anything that enters, if the tweezers touch anything there's 3+ running up them. Super aggressive must want more protein though

Catch your own to bolster a 1queen bought starter hehe, vest if both worlds :p can merge fresh princess quite easily during nuptual times

Youl have plenty of ants hopefully by hibernation, if not the second year it gets insane :)

Omg if you just got a queen youl get the pleasure of rubra nanitics, extremely rare sight, found 1 nanitic nest in my whole life but there soooo cute
