Yaaaay! Myrmica update 😃 I would definitely add some springtails into this bud - it’ll prevent the mould happening (if it does) and will preemptive strike it just in case. Plus extra food for them if they can catch any 🐜 Great update man ❤️
Amazing video, I myself am getting a colony of these little lady’s and I look forward to keeping them once again. Also you can merge this colony with another colony easily, that would really boost their growth.
This is awesome. I just caught 5 solenopsis invicta queens. I have a crematogastur colony which is 1 year old. One time I forgot to water them for a week and over 2/3 of the colony died.
'garbage' or toilets inside the nest are normal :) even when the nests are the right size I don't think the springtails will survive without substrate one of the workers was holding a ball of eggs! pupae only needs to stay dry if the pupae has a coccoon, naked pupae need to be cleaned regulary Dead ants are normal in a way, Myrmica doesn't have a graveyard, so they walk around with the dead bodies a lot, randomly placing the dead bodies everywhere haha
2:42 If you look at the right sponge in the nest, you can see a worker carrying a batch of eggs (I think) 2:59 At the bottom of the video against the sponge area, there are eggs I love to see how this colony hs recovered from the naturalistic setup. In my opinion, this setup is looks better because you can zee pretty much everything :)

(About the sting, hurts like hell and my friends friend slipped on a rock, unveiled the nest, and got stung about x times. Cried and shouted for the next hours.)

You are busy getting colonies 😆 but yeah this is quite normal as they stress and that often ends in being the broods problem 😕😅
