Congratulations man! You have there a beautyful and super strong Bowie..that knife is near indestructible.. It have a very good heattreatment..The 440c is great steel. Dont forget in the 1980s 440c was considered as supersteel.. You can even chop bricks with this knife. I have one myself and the other i sold years ago.. Don't buy a dangerous oversized knife! I have completely field dressed a buck with a 1 3/4th inch knife. All you will do with an over sized knife is accidentally cut yourself badly. It's because you lose track of where the edge and tip are, you have a lack of feedback on a large blade. Dangerous knives are; dull knives (you will use too much force and when it gives where it goes is random), too large (for the reasons above) and knives that you have never used.
