The problem with Rope perches is the bird chewing and injesting the rope they can’t digest it and it gets stuck in the crop I had a cockatiel get an impaction and unfortunately passed away I noticed your rope perch has some frayed bits I’d recommend getting a new 1
You can use rope as long as you know your cocktail will not chew it I have one for mine and I’ve had him for ten years and he’s never ever chewed the rope
yea totally agree with u! really depends on the bird because I have 2 budgies at home and they never chew on it you just have to closely monitor your bird.
Hey there! So I should get a cockatiel really soon and I know everything about them and I worked hard to get the money! But I still have school witch takes 6-7 hours ...I would be with the bird when I'm home...I would get a cage witch is good size for him, I would let him out when I'm doing schoolwork and we would be together 24/7 on the weekends. Is that enough time for a bird? I won't get it if it isn't enough time. Hope you will answer.
Great video! What size cage is the one in your video and what size do you recommend for one cockatiel, depending on whether they spend most of the time on a perch?
@@AaronLewisOfficial oh ok thank you!! If you have time can you make a video on cage do's and don'ts(im having trouble on finding a good cage and on what's ok and whats not) if you cant its ok
Please please PLEASE take out the rope perch ESPECIALLY since it’s frayed because if they get the fibers in them it could easily block up their system and kill them, if you absolutely need to use a rope perch I recommend looking into one with fibers that they can digest and don’t have artificial coloring
hi sorry for late reply lol a flight cage and possibly get him/her a friend with natural perches such as ribbon wood and alot of foraging toys and make sure t give him/her alot of fresh veggies. I reccomend watching elle and the birds
Wow, I’ll do everything in my power not to do anything you showed in this video first of all rope perches are awful and plastic food and water containers. Seriously come on dude your cockatiel will only live five years at most. Wood branches, ceramic containers for your food and water so bacteria doesn’t build up on them and kill your bird would be an absolute must. I’ve had cockatiels for 20 years now and they’re still fine because I haven’t ever had them use rope perches.
Thanks for your comment man! I can guarantee you that my Cockatiels are all healthy and thriving and the Grey one featured in this video died sadly but he lived til 12 years of age, much older than the 5. People over think it these days to much when it comes to caring for a bird. As long as you are watching them and making sure you clean out there food/water bowls correctly they will live a long and happy life, I thank you for letting me know your concerns however.
@@AaronLewisOfficial 12 is VERY young, my cockatiel is 21 and not showing signs of slowing down. I rescued another cockatiel only for her to die within a week or 2 due to the owner not disclosing she was involved in a major house fire (that she barely got pulled out from) shortly before I adopted her, (she had lung issues unknown to me) Otherwise I absolutely do everything to make sure my Buddy is okay, even got him a new friend, a parakeet. She's helped him a ton, while I'm at work they talk to each other. I hope to have Buddy for 20 more years & Holly for another 10-12 years, if everything works out.

They can also get their little toes stuck in the rope and sadly die. :(

Thank you for informing me of this. I noticed mine is starting to fray and I would very much prefer my birds not dying
I’m so glad somebody pointed this out

As long as you spend as much time possible with your Parrot before and after school it should be okay!
Aaron Lewis ok thank you I have the same problem
Hi i reccomend a fight cage
@Laney huh?
@@dhruvesingh9801 you said fight cage, not flight. that's why they typed about that quote lol

Thanks for watching Kerry!
this is so entertaining and informative. you also have the sweetest looking cockatiel
CaNdY thank you!!
what is the towel or wrap around the budgie cage for?
It’s to help keep the food within the cage, so it doesn’t end up all over the floor!

aaaaahhhh he's so cute 🥺🥺🥺🥺 loved the video!!
Hey I am getting a cocktail tomorrow can u tell the prices
In Australia hand tamed ones can go upwards of $150, which is steep but if the bird is tame and well mannered its worth the price!
where did you get your cage? do you have a link?
What kind of cage is that? Brand?
Im not certain sorry, I just purchased it from my local pet shop!
Nice video! I'm sure he will love the new layout, Aaron. :)
Nice set up! Do you have a link of that cage? Thanks
I do not sadly, thanks for watching!
Hello did you get this cage from online?
No my local Petshop had it!
Hes so pretty
My bird has figured out how to open his cage from the inside any tips
Try putting a baby lock on it so that he/she can’t open it without twisting. That’s what I did with my cockatiel. Hope This Helped!😌
That’s what ur mom sayed to me
Is a 62" by 32" cage good for a single Cockatiel, I'm just asking because were geting a new cage for our Cockatiel soon, the curent one is 45" by 40".

hi
im getting a cockatiel so please tell me a cage size- like anyone ,:D
The recommended cage size for a cockatiel is 24 inches by 22 inches but most actual cockatiel owners recommend more than that

Cokatails don’t need a friend just spend more time with it

Where can i get a non-plastic food container? Everything i see in online and in local bird shops are literally all filled plastic.

Queenslander Aviaries is a great place to check out if you are located in Australia!
