    I cross shopped both. For me, the XC40 felt like a step up in quality and materials; more premium. Wasn’t keen on just how light the steering felt. But liked the styling, good use of space, and ability to fit four adults. I’m 6ft and had no issues with space while in the driver’s seat. Shoppers need to see them in person and judge for themselves as so much is qualitative.

      yes. But I keep thinking, regular gas in the Q3. It's such a positive point.

      @rvtBC 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnedieter739 definitely agree, especially if you drive a lot. I ended up with a 2019 GTI (I know, a different class of vehicle but sufficient for my wife and I) with one benefit I took into account being it can run on regular without doing harm to the engine (although lesser power).

      @@rvtBC I own a 2010 VW GTI coupe that I love but I am ready for some new wheels. The GTI can carry an amazing amount of stuff. I test drove the Mazda CX-5, Audi Q3, and the XC40. The Mazda (Signature) had great handling but the engine noise, visibility, and audio quality were not to my liking. I also had concerns about long-drive comfort with the seats. The Q3 (S-line Premium Plus) had the best cargo storage (length and width wise) and I appreciated the easy infotainment system, the visibility, and the road feel. Front seats were very comfortable, back ones not so much. And yes, it felt too plasticky with more of a VW vibe. The ride might be a nicer ride with 19s than the 20s. The premium stereo system was excellent. I also drove the XC40 in T4 R and T5 R versions. The T4 R had 19s and the T5 had 20s. Ironically, I thought the T4 drove more consistently though it clearly had less power. The T5 R felt felt floaty and the transmission was prone to surges. However, both ride were quiets and the seats were super cushy. The premium stereo was also fantastic and had some great adjustability. Make sure you test audio systems through your phone apps. Still torn between the Q3 and CX-40. ...but what I really want is a new VW Golf R that has knobs and buttons...not the ridiculous touch infotainment system they put on the Arteon, the GTI, and the R. Love Motormouth.

    I’ve owned 2 Audi’s and I looked at both these cars two years ago. I know this is a 2021 review and not 2020. While I find Audi a bit more fun to drive when I test drove the 2020 XC40 R-Design it was hands down and more luxurious ride without giving up much with handling and a more luxurious spacious well thought out interior. And the exterior design is awesome and the color scheme with the black roof. And so far more reliable than my Audi’s. Price wasn’t that much more once you add extras to the A3. Oh and I also have Polestar which gives it nice kick but I don’t like the higher RPM and engine noise when engaged. It’s well powered without Polestar. And at 6ft tall no issues with drivers seat. And Honestly I don’t think I’d put regular gas in an A3. I was surprised that was recommended. Both good cars and nice review here but I’ll go with the XC-40 every time. It’s been a joy to own.

    We just bought a 2023 Volvo XC40 B5. We have owned it for a month and love it. We are long time VW owners and took the leap to Volvo. I like the look of the Q3 but we didn't bother test driving one. One reason there is not a local dealer in our area. There is a Volvo dealer a few miles from our house. So that played a part.

    I drove both Audi and Volvo. I owned an Audi. I had lots of electrical and mechanical issues with the Audi. I have already bought two Volvo XC40 vehicles since their release. I have had no problems with any of these Volvo vehicles and would never go back to Audi. The Volvo XC40 is just so much more to me than the Audi.

    Wish you guys would have mentioned the polestar optimization package that’s available on the XC40. We just purchased a T5 inscription with this option and it’s very quick.
    For me, these two cars felt like apples and oranges. The Audi was nice, but didn’t give off the premium vibe we were expecting. We also own a Subaru in a top trim level and the interior of the Q3 didn’t feel that much different. The XC40 (especially our inscription trim) felt way more luxurious.

    Volvo all the way. After being an Audi fan for decades, Volvo has caught up imo, even passed. Having rented the XC40 many times, I think it will be our next family car. The only question now is which engine and trim. Possibly even an Recharge, maybe a full EV?
    Finally, a good friend who is a indie mechanic has received a number of Audi/VW cars with engine issues, just out of warranty. He showed ie an audi (VAG) water pump (one of a few) on a 2016 that's now completely made out of some hard plastic material - it had cracked. I trust Volvo uses one and the same engine block for all their ICE models (2L, 4cyl), that will easily outlast the Audi/VW motors...
    Fwiw, my indie mech states the future is electric with virtually no required maintenance.

The Swedish designed interior is such a refreshingly original approach, when compared to it’s peers. And I like all of it’s clever quirks. Wait ‘Geely’ owns Volvo?!?!.... it’d still be the Volvo. Not having memory seats is definitely a deal breaker, if people driving the vehicle have different heights. youd be adjusting the seat height, seat tilt angle and seat back angle every time! I won't be putting up with it for sure!
    I have a suggestion for Andria. I loved the mention on seat height of these two cars! Can you include to mention the seating height, and possibly a seat height comparison in future videos?
    I know a lot of people care about it but no reviewer care to mention it. Or they may mention it in some videos, but also laugh at it as being just a soccer mom thing.
    I actually need to seat more up right, because of my lower back issues. So I always consider height of vehicle seats when car shopping. one of my worries of getting a sub compact is low seat heights.
    Thanks guys, another great video!😄

    @michaelgoh5830 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great comparison, thanks.
    I am currently thinking of upsizing my Audi A3 hatch to a SUV and these 2 SUVs are on my shopping list.
    You are right, the Q3 40 TFSI with a 132 KW available in Australia matches the T4 entry level XC40 Inscription, whereas the higher output 45 TFSI Q3, which isn’t available (yet) in Australia would compete with the T5 XC40.
    As a current Audi owner, I am more inclined towards Q3, which appears to be more affordable in Canada. A fully optioned Q3 132 KW here in Australia would cost over A$70K (C$69K based on current exchange rate).

    Looks like I can lease a Volvo T5 Inscription AWD for about $495/mo USD. Might have to go on my list! (Though I am 6’3). I don’t think I can live with the glossy black interior surfaces of the Q3.

    In the UK, Volvo XC40 takes regular petrol too. Volvo explicitly states either regular or premium can be used in the UK handbook. Not sure if there is a difference between UK and North American "regular" petrol? Mine (a B5 MHEV, but basically the same ICE as the old T5 I think) runs on regular, with no issues whatsoever. Also, note to international viewers the T5 in Europe is a very different 3 cylinder PHEV set up to this T5 - quite confusing labelling from Volvo in this day and age of international media!

    I felt like i was in a honda in the Audi. The Volvo has a better ride, a better upscale interior, is more quite, especially at higway speeds, and the new B5 with AWD/hybrid is less $ than a comparable Audi.

    I'm just really shocked by the gender stereotype comments in the video. The assumption by both presenters about physicality associated with certain genders (eg: "targeted for female buyers who tend to be shorter", "but for taller guys", "a petite woman...") is really disappointing to hear. Surely you can reflect and see that you should be neutral on it. Saying otherwise is quite careless and ignorant; knowingly people of all genders come in all shapes and sizes.
