It's cool but it masks how much worse GT2 looks compared to GT7. Using the native PS1 version would have been cool to see in comparison to the PS5 version of GT7.
Honestly I wish we lived in a world where Sony added an FPU to the revised PSOne. This is how these games were intended to look and it kinda sucks that emulators are the closest thing we have, especially when compatibility still isn't 100% (has ANYONE created a PSX emulator that doesn't crash in Xenogears boss fights?)
@@ChrisStoneinator This is not true. PS1 games were designed with CRT technology in mind, as that was the only display technology widely available in homes at the time. Because of this, the PS1 and all games on the system, were designed to exploit specific characteristics of CRT displays. PS1 games were never "intended to look" like they do when an emulator increases the render resolution and removes dithering. They were "intended to look" exactly as they do coming from a PS1 into a CRT, or from an accurate emulator ("enhancements" off/disabled) with the most accurate CRT shader available.
@@ChrisStoneinator Whether you think they look bad or not is irrelevant to the point of how the games were intended to be viewed. They were always intended to be viewed on a CRT, in their original resolution. Anything other than that would be unintended.
Same. I mostly dislike wide body but this is exception. Most wide body I seen usually only extend on area near tire, while this car extend its whole trunk and hood, completely with repositioned taillight and headlamp. Really beautiful car. I wish I can see the Alfa romeo 155 version of this 😌
It's incredible to see how much graphics and features have improved from back then. It's remarkable to see the Smiths tachometer in this race car working just like the real thing. GT7 has a lot going for it, but somehow the old GTs still captivate my heart with their simplicity. Also, GT2 still has the best turbo spool and blow off sound lol
The lighting is so natural and real, especially on this track made for GT7 & PS5, GT sport cars had more pop even in scapes they looked tacked on slightly to the background, this is al natural & blended to perfection. I cant imagine it looking any better than this
Back in 1999, my favorite car was Escudo just like everyone else. But after revisiting this game several years later, this became my second favorite. It is strange that nobody talks about this car and it is definitely a hidden gem in GT2.
love if they added more of these older and probably admittedly more forgotten cars of GT2. Esprit or Elise GT1, Saleen SR Widebody or for the "why not" sake the 1999 AE86 Trueno GT300 car.
Definitely my new favorite car in the game. I love how it handles, looks, sounds, etc We need more of these sort of cars, any OG homologation cars from any country. I’d get rid of any modern exotic for them
Man, awesome content. I can't believe how crisp the PS emulator games are looking, they're absolutely gorgeous. One thing I don't miss is that tyre screeching noise on the old GT's hahaha xD
Thanks for the comparison; in GT2 the tires sounded like barking dogs overlaid with laughing hyenas... 😁 One somewhat forgotten car from the first game I'd love to see back is the Cerbera GTLM, best race car then
The R30 Silhouette, it's my favorite car since Gt2, and I finally got it in GT 7, and I always played and won a lot of races during the weekend afternoons on Psx playing that great game
Look at that inflation the car Prices goes up from 125,000 to 1,150,000 While the Race Pize goes down from 350,000 to 1,865 in GT2 you could buy two times that car with the money earn from that race, while in GT7 you would need to win that race 617 times to buy the same car.
1: 125,000 is the value of the car if you sell it. It costs 4x the resale value so technically the original price is 500,000 credits. 2: In GT2 I use memory editing to change the track and lap counts. This was the Laguna Seca endurance, changed to Trial Mountain for 1 lap. That credit prize doesn’t reflect a similar race 3: Custom races always pay out low. With other events you can get up to 1.5mil/hour
Adding 2 Legends (ESCUDO Pikes Peak and Skyline R31 Silhouette Formula) in GT7 makes me think if there's a chance that they'll put both the HKS 180sx/R33 Drag Cars. Pls do in the next update!
Man they need to fix this race track in GT7. They need to smoothen the road. You can clearly see stair steps on upsides and downsides and the reflecting light also reveals it. You can also notice that the car is bumping up like it's going up stairs and it causes to lose grip as well as feels awkward to drive on.
@@RowdyGT its this specific track that hasn't been scanned irl... because it doesn't exist. Look at the tunnel which has the curve. Look at how jagged and steppy it is the track itself.
Back in GT2 days, when I first got this car, I thought the'd been lazy with the model for such a fast and excellent car, piling a bunch of wooden boxes for it. 🤭Obviously I didn't know the real one. It became my favourite aniway.
Tbh, I did struggle for a while to decide if I should keep the original look of old games or just use overall better looking footage. When I do these comparison vids across different games, it's not really meant to show just the changes in graphics alone. Personally, I don't care about graphics in games at all (unless I was deceived by trailers, *cough GT7*), but if the footage looks better for videos in a certain way, I'll use that footage. The car behaves and sounds differently, the track and environment are laid out different and have a huge polygon count difference, and you still get the same overall feel for both games regardless of how the footage looks. There's some toxic weirdo purists that have left nasty comments saying 'blah blah emulator bad', but tbh I'm just trying to make my stuff look as good as possible for a TH-cam audience, objectively speaking. Large majority of people want to see the emulator's enhancements compared to the original look so that's what I go with.
