Hi Rachel! I was wondering if you’ve ever thought about trying to make a quilt? It’s the perfect time of year to plan and start a cozy autumn blankie-(I’m working on a Halloween one right now🎃) It’s a great way to use up fabric from your stash for a scrappy patchwork vibe. This room is absolutely STUNNING! My Husband and I both work in theatre (he's a carpenter and I'm a costumer), and our home has so many rooms that are theatrical like this. We're currently working on transforming our basement into the 1970s bar/den of our dreams, with wall flats built by the Husband and colour and most every other decision driven by me. We also got that same fireplace insert for our Preway, and I love the projections! Now, we just have to get out of this awful summer so we can fully enjoy the fire! As a stitcher, who is enjoying being in her 50s, I really want to suggest you build yourself a cutting table that is custom built to your height requirements. The joy you will feel when you don't have to break your back to cut out your project is unbelievable! Thank you for another great video!
@@m.maclellan7147 Hi! thought I answered this last night, but it seems that it didn't post. So, this is the one we got from Amazon. It's also a heater, but we only use it for the flame effect and the projection is a cool feature. If you put this extremely long winded description into the search bar, it will take you to the one we got: Duraflame 20" Electric Fireplace Log Set Insert and Fire Crackler Combo with Infrared Quartz Set Heater and Realistic Ember Bed and Logs - DFI021ARU-CSFC
Whenever I feel overwhelmed at the idea of turning my rental’s living room into a Parisian penthouse, I watch some Rachel Maksy home reno and am filled with the urge to Futz Around and Find Out
Well done! I'm gonna go do some more work in what's going to be my craft room... thanks for inspiring me to get some shit done. And that fireplace insert is bloody genius.
This is my favoritest thing you've done yet! It really encourages me to start doing things to my home.. I'm still lack the confidence that anything will turn out how I want and then I watch your videos and get inspired all over again.
Rachael, you are one crazy girl, I love it. In my past I turned a small bathroom with a shower into a forest and took a built in bookcase on a half wall upstairs and turned it into a Victorian fireplace. Creative people think alike
As I lay in bed, dealing with bronchitis for the first time in my 30 years of being on this planet, I find joy in Rachel and her whimsy. Also, if someone offered to let me stay with them and told me the room I'd be staying in was Hobbit-themed I would say "yes" in a heartbeat.
Hey plaster paint companies, you need to sponsor Rachel and help this girl out. With ample paint and a bit of technical advice from the company, she can create magic never expected. Rachel, you should send this video out to plaster paint PR reps….this is why creative companies should consider sponsoring YT creatives.
I'm not sure if I've ever commented because I watch you nearly religiously on my TV but I've watched you for so long and your videos bring me ABSOLUTE joy❤ and your growth as a creator is incredible🫶🏽 Also your videos remind me what day it is😅
So stinkin' cute! It seems like passing by the room would give a Narnia effect, like you gotta double-take and make sure it's not a door to another world! I made a foam board fireplace last year as a Halloween prop, and it turned out well, but yours makes me realize I was afraid to weather it and it looked a little too pristine...
Oh my god I'd love a video about every makeovers you made in the house ! Like every themed rooms you put your creative heart into or little renovations that make, step by step look your home like a whimsical museum. Hi from Paris
I love your room renovation videos! They give me so much inspiration to work on my own projects! I just moved back from college and gave my childhood bedroom a whole vintage makeover!
I just want to say, I absolutely love your editing. I love the random funnies and the random relaxing moments you add. The little addition of the birds in your yard and the thunderstorm. Just *chef’s kiss*
Rachel you read my mind! I have half of those pieces ready to do some of these same things for my sewing room! I've looked for that murphy bed myself. I ended up with the Ikea pull out, and then had a board cut to fit over the top to be a work table when it's not a bed. I even have an old electric fireplace thing that I'm planning on doing a fake fireplace with! I love your use of the packing material for bricks. Good call! I hope I get to see you at Dragon Con!
Oh my god that little cabinet of infinite drawers is something I NEED immediately, great job!! You could say that seeing you construct this room made me... beam
I LOVE THIS also one safety note from my anxious ass: don't paint the actual sockets? They sell black ones!!! It's ok to paint the plate of course, but please replace your socket with a black one, I am Concerned. Okay I love you and this sewing room, it's perfect, the vibes are immaculate.
I'm looking forward to the repaint of the Murphy bed. I never would have thought of painting hobbity embellishments on it, but that is going to be magical.
I absolutely loved this, and I was recently at hobbiton nz and the decor in this room is like the exact same as the interactive hobbit hole we were aloud to go into.❤❤
Oh I love it it truly captures a Hobbit abode and the recycling of the packaging to create the brick work around the fireplace and the whole aesthetic with the furniture and the personal touches would make any guest staying there feel like they were transported to Hobiton
I live in a very old stone cottage in the UK with ancient beams and inglenook fireplaces which looks very much like a hobbit hole. I was very sceptical about your room transformation but am amazed at how talented you are. You nailed it!
The way I almost teared up when I saw the finished product! That was so much work and I love the end result. Also, that "oooOOOOOOooo" in the bloopers was 100% Jenna! I think part of why I love your content is that you're just as influenced and inspired by her as I was all those years 😁 If you run out of space there (Nick does need some places of his , after all!), you could make an absolute killing as a design consultant and renovator for others!
The absolute tsunami of serotonin that came over me was insane! Holy cow I am in love! The happiness I would feel just by standing in it and not do anything is overwhelming!!!!! I also kinda like the little brick. Mixed with the dark paint it gives the fireplace a little extra depth! Everything is just perfect!
Rachel, what a FRODOLICIOUS transformation! I hope you will consider making a Hobbit themed scrapbook or 📸 photo album showing stills from your MISTRESSPIECE! And commentary in the margins with: materials used, timeline, how-to, what you would have done differently and what the various materials and elements added to the overall completion. Also, who's the first overnighter in The Hobbit Bed & 2nd Breakfast? 🧙♂️
Omg same!! What surgery? I broke my leg a year ago and apparently the place I went to was crappy because they didn’t do it right :( Now I have a bunch of metal and screws in my leg so I call my self a cyborg now :)
@_Brushstrokes_ oh no! I hope your cyborg leg treats you well! I went in for two tears in the meniscus, but it turns out there was also a chip in the kneecap, and a mild tear in the tendon, so my 15 minute meniscus repair turned into an hour plus 😆 But here Rachel is entertaining me only two hours after surgery 😆
How am I only just right now discovering your channel??? You're so precious and wholesome omg. Yep subscribed and now going to binge watch everything while I embroider
You and Bobby Duke are The Wewd Masters ❤ As soon as I read the title of this video, I knew I was home!! My inner child, outer nerd is overflowing with serotonin, whimsy, and nostalgia!! Working wood fakery magic in all ways, that’s you! I could see you turning a small hotel into a magical wonderland of incredible themed suites 🤩🤩🤩
Rachel, I love all of your videos but the reno ones in particular hold a special place in my heart. You've shown me that foam can be an awesome add in and the fact that my home was built in the 80s shouldn't stop me! Bless you
Same. Absolutely same here. I can't wrap my head around the fact that she ALWAYS comes up with new ideas that fulfill my every need wish and desire before I even know them myself 😃
What you said at 25:16 is basically what I'm going to comment. It's so fun that you are building fantasy sets in your house and even better that this is a guest room where your friends can have a themed retreat.
1) I love this! 2) Your hair looks so cute in the two buns! 3) I have to vacuum my office at work once a week with a shop vac and doing it in summer is ROUGH. I've also had moments where the air blowing from the vacuum is my only source of relief. 4) Omg, the Big Comfy Couch reference unlocked a memory for me; I remember doing the clock thing as a child!
Rachel, you've outdone yourself! That room is absolutely stunning. The fireplace is ingenious. I so want to mimic your approach with foam beams, but I know my cats would absolutely shred it within three minutes.
The struggle to have nice wooden things is real. 😢 I’m seriously considering plastering our ceilings with that stuff Rachel used on the walls. Our 160-year-old house was “undated” in the 70s to include gosh-awful acoustics tile on all the downstairs ceilings.
I am just SO impressed with how much effort goes into these videos and renovations! 🤩 The planning, actual projects themselves, filming, voiceover, captions, transition cards, editing, and the humor and heart you put into every shot (Frodo reading the newspaper was SO SWEET! 🥹)-- WOW! Thank you for creating content as wholesome and fulfilling as second breakfast! 🍀
Rachel 🎉 I love your little ( Hobbit) sewing room!!! The transformation is incredible. The bricks, that you made from the packaging is genius. So fun, cute, adorable.... Lots of love, Audri
Perfection does not exist. 😊 I am proud of you for telling yourself "it does not need to be 100% done for this video". Part of the fun is adding items from your journey through life as time passes. 😌☺️
God I'm living through that sensation RIGHT NOW 😂😂 had to stop myself from ordering staining oil for the shelves of the room I'm now sitting in just a minute ago 😂
Love the room Rachel!!! I feel you with the packing material ... it just feels so well made. And if I may suggest, under the fireplace there seems like maybe wasted empty space? If you do add the wooden shelf support, why not add more shelving to 'hide' items that you dont want displayed and/or holiday decor to stay out of the way. That way, you get storage plus stability, a two for one special.
Just watched LOtR for the first time yesterday and I thought of this channel the whole time. What convenient timing for someone who’s been newly transformed 😌
I feel like instead of cleaning your work space, you just get yourself more room to mess up X'D But it turned out soooo cute!!! I've never seen a small murphy bed before! It's so smart!!
I've just found your channel and I think I'll stay awhile, while I'm not a fan of continuous narration I always mute and watch, I love your natural witty humourous chatting it's like listening to a friend, your movie references have me hooked. I do agree with the comments on Nick getting his own space and I look forward to seeing this video when it happens. So it's time for second supper and catching up on your other videos.
Hey, any chance you have the NAME of that fireplace insert !? Was hoping @RachelMaksy would have itinled, but no luck !
That is so cool!
@@m.maclellan7147 Same ask.
@@m.maclellan7147 Hi! thought I answered this last night, but it seems that it didn't post. So, this is the one we got from Amazon. It's also a heater, but we only use it for the flame effect and the projection is a cool feature. If you put this extremely long winded description into the search bar, it will take you to the one we got:
Duraflame 20" Electric Fireplace Log Set Insert and Fire Crackler Combo with Infrared Quartz Set Heater and Realistic Ember Bed and Logs - DFI021ARU-CSFC
😱 this sounds so awesome!
Whenever I feel overwhelmed at the idea of turning my rental’s living room into a Parisian penthouse, I watch some Rachel Maksy home reno and am filled with the urge to Futz Around and Find Out
mounting tape is your friend
I love both of your ideas!!
I discovered Rachel when i was sick woth Covid, and yeah she saved my sanity then.
Ah, good luck friend! Been there, not a fun experience. Keep finding joy wherever!
Hey plaster paint companies, you need to sponsor Rachel and help this girl out. With ample paint and a bit of technical advice from the company, she can create magic never expected. Rachel, you should send this video out to plaster paint PR reps….this is why creative companies should consider sponsoring YT creatives.
Rachel reminds me to just try things that will bring me joy even if I don’t know exactly how! And that’s how you get better!
Lovely project! The lit candles next to the foam make my paranoid self nervous, though.
The ASMR thunder storm is so relaxing. I love this whole project. I feel like I need more crafting foam in my life.
Yeeeeep I smiled at that thunderstorm bit, too!!! ❤
I'm not sure if I've ever commented because I watch you nearly religiously on my TV but I've watched you for so long and your videos bring me ABSOLUTE joy❤ and your growth as a creator is incredible🫶🏽
Also your videos remind me what day it is😅
Ha ha same! I get the Rachel notice and I’m like thank god it’s Friday night!
I just moved back from college and gave my childhood bedroom a whole vintage makeover!
ahhhh please paint the window frames and baseboards to match the beams when u get the chance !
I just want to say, I absolutely love your editing. I love the random funnies and the random relaxing moments you add. The little addition of the birds in your yard and the thunderstorm. Just *chef’s kiss*
1000 % agree. It's so so so so so so so good 💞
So cute, Rachel! I’d be game for a part two for this room! Or a “still futzing the sewing room” video
You could say that seeing you construct this room made me... beam
I LOVE THIS
also one safety note from my anxious ass: don't paint the actual sockets? They sell black ones!!! It's ok to paint the plate of course, but please replace your socket with a black one, I am Concerned.
Okay I love you and this sewing room, it's perfect, the vibes are immaculate.
I was thinking the exact same thing! It’s the one think I know not to do
This is my favourite kind of video.
Also, “thirty, flirty and overwhelmed” is such a relatable descriptor 😂
I'm looking forward to the repaint of the Murphy bed. I never would have thought of painting hobbity embellishments on it, but that is going to be magical.
I absolutely loved this, and I was recently at hobbiton nz and the decor in this room is like the exact same as the interactive hobbit hole we were aloud to go into.❤❤
Absolutely love the process and the result !!! 🧚🏼🎉🧡💚👏🏽👣
i love the addition of frodo and binx’s portraits, they really add to the overall whimsy of the room :) i hope to have something like this one day!
that was such a great touch, if I had pets I'd instantly copy that idea 😂
Oh I love it it truly captures a Hobbit abode and the recycling of the packaging to create the brick work around the fireplace and the whole aesthetic with the furniture and the personal touches would make any guest staying there feel like they were transported to Hobiton
When it said “press any button to begin quest”…..I pressed the like button ☺️
I had already done that but I pressed space and paused the vid for a second just to cherish the chance to participate in Rachel's shenanigans 😂😂
"Starman" is instant motivation for anything 😂❤
I believe this is my most favorite room makeover you have done yet!!! LOVE it!!
Yes! A true crafter always saves packing materials, styrofoam, cardboard, eveything to be used for future projects. 😀💖🌟
"Whomst art though going to beckon?" made my day! 😂❤
New Rachel Maksy day is my favourite day
I live in a very old stone cottage in the UK with ancient beams and inglenook fireplaces which looks very much like a hobbit hole. I was very sceptical about your room transformation but am amazed at how talented you are. You nailed it!
How does it feel to be living my dream?
@@AshleighBaggins I feel very lucky
@@cerridwencottagediary9194
You should! Living in a house like that is amazing!
The way I almost teared up when I saw the finished product! That was so much work and I love the end result.
Also, that "oooOOOOOOooo" in the bloopers was 100% Jenna! I think part of why I love your content is that you're just as influenced and inspired by her as I was all those years 😁
If you run out of space there (Nick does need some places of his , after all!), you could make an absolute killing as a design consultant and renovator for others!
Nothing is real, yet everything looks authentic! The pet portraits are too good. Love the room, Rachel. And, David Bowie.❤❤❤
IT LOOKS SO CUTE!
I love that Nick supports your shenanigans. Shout out to supportive husbands!
AGREED :) :) :) !!!!!!!
I can’t wait to see what else you do with this space. Especially the potential Murphy bed makeover! It’s amazing!!
Waking up from surgery, to a new video!? Heck yeah!
Omg same!! What surgery? I broke my leg a year ago and apparently the place I went to was crappy because they didn’t do it right :(
Now I have a bunch of metal and screws in my leg so I call my self a cyborg now :)
@_Brushstrokes_ oh no! I hope your cyborg leg treats you well!
I went in for two tears in the meniscus, but it turns out there was also a chip in the kneecap, and a mild tear in the tendon, so my 15 minute meniscus repair turned into an hour plus 😆
But here Rachel is entertaining me only two hours after surgery 😆
Hope surgery went well and you heal quickly!
Get well soon!!❤❤
@ aliciasipocz8406
Oof! Hope you feel better soon! ❤️
I love that your style in this video consists of little boy or cottage core witch and I honestly love it
We wants it… We needs it… Must. Have. The Precious!!!
It looks amazing!
Bless you
"Whomst art thou going to beckon?" 😂 I love this so much. Every video makes my day, I can't even explain.
Nearly spit my coffee out at that part! 🤣
Same. Absolutely same here. I can't wrap my head around the fact that she ALWAYS comes up with new ideas that fulfill my every need wish and desire before I even know them myself 😃
What you said at 25:16 is basically what I'm going to comment. It's so fun that you are building fantasy sets in your house and even better that this is a guest room where your friends can have a themed retreat.
what you did with the beams was great!!! The addition of a darker color on top of the orange really made it come together!!!
I’m seriously considering plastering our ceilings with that stuff Rachel used on the walls. Our 160-year-old house was “undated” in the 70s to include gosh-awful acoustics tile on all the downstairs ceilings.
The room turned out so great. I love how your imagination works when it comes to decorating your home.
so true so true so true
Rachel 🎉
I love your little ( Hobbit) sewing room!!! The transformation is incredible.
The bricks, that you made from the packaging is genius. So fun, cute, adorable....
Lots of love,
Audri
Such 😊 fun!
Great job! Thanks for sharing it with the interwebs.
The bunting made such a difference. Added three dimensionality and a layer of lived in feel.
Those mushroom 🍄 shorts are beyond adorable 😍
I have brown ones like them from Amazon.
Perfection does not exist. 😊 I am proud of you for telling yourself "it does not need to be 100% done for this video". Part of the fun is adding items from your journey through life as time passes. 😌☺️
IT LOOKS SOOO GOOD!! The amount of urges I get to just turn any room I have into an inspired version of Rachel's latest projects, are immeasurable.
Triumph my dear, a true triumph!! I didn't know I wanted a hobbit room until now!
Just watched LOtR for the first time yesterday and I thought of this channel the whole time. What convenient timing for someone who’s been newly transformed 😌
I never know what's more fun, your projects, or your editing. I'm so glad I get to have both!
I feel like instead of cleaning your work space, you just get yourself more room to mess up X'D
But it turned out soooo cute!!!
Thank you being yourself. Hi from Australia 🇦🇺
