Best part of the video was Marty saying “I’m really grateful I get to work on cars with my dad“ and he said it a couple of times. You know he meant it.
So Marty is a good friend of mine. Hands down the most honest and approachable person.
He loves all marques: and is a student of all. He does however have a proclivity for some off the beaten path cars.
Quality man. Simply put.
Marty is just the very best addition to this channel, everyone needs a mate like that ,much love respect from Australia Marty,by the way we had a Rambler Hornet ,didnt really kick on that well so you could buy them really cheap ,my dad used to rip out that straight six and fit a windsor v8 ,cool car
Wow!! I am curious if Ralph and my dad went to school together!! I am reaching out to my dad now, because I was born in Flemington, grew up on Flemington Speedway, and I have a really cool story about the Dealership that Ralph bought his Scrambler new at, on route 31.
My father (just like Ralph had to) went to the AMC dealership in Flemington and purchased a brand new Javlin. I know it was yellow. Long story short, there were multiple issues with the car, and my Grandmother would go with him to the Dealership to try and correct the problems. The dealer gave them a hard time with it.
My grandfather was bedridden with cancer by this time, and had a phone installed next to his bed (😂that was a big deal back in the '60's!) Needless to say that he blew his top when they told him that the dealer wouldn't do anything to correct the problems. As was told to me by both my Grandma and Dad, " after several curse words, he picked up the phone, dialed a number. Then we heard him say, "George. It's Brownie. I told you they weren't going to do anything about that piece of $&×t!!! Alright. Thanks. They are on their way over there now. Alright. " and he hung up the phone. ". Then; " Mary! Take Michael back to the Dealership with the car." Gram started to protest, and he shouted, " Go back to the @#$%%&*@ Dealership, they are giving you another car."
As they pulled into the Dealership, EVERYONE was walking out to them, including the owner. "We're so sorry about the confusion. Please, pick any vehicle, anything you want. Let me know which one you want. " Of course my grandmother being the most honest person on the planet, absolutely refuses to "upgrade" on their dime, and finally found an Ambassador that was 3 cents more than the Javlin. And she INSISTED that they take the 3 cents 😂😂😂. Then the manager said to Grandma, " I can't understand why you didn't want to take the top of the line, we were told to give you whatever you want.
By the way, how do you happen to know George Romney??"
Apparently my grandfather was friends with him. Small world 🌎.
It's very refreshing to watch a classic car video where people like Parker and Marty take time to explain stuff and they are very knowledgeable and they just present everything very well. I hope they continue to do videos. The classic car world needs gentleman like these two
Very true…
Thanks for showing some old AMC's. I just turned 60, my 1st car was a '74 Javelin.
I really enjoy that you appreciate all of the cars. Not just the ones that were unattainable to mere mortals.
In the early 70's AMC was on the cusp of releasing a car that would have changed the American automobile industry, an affordably priced mid engine supercar called the AMX III, it was right along the lines of a Pantera, a well designed and built mid engine car with a powerful American V8 engine but unlike a Pantera or a mid engine European car it wouldn't have been something that only the rich could have afforded.
However like so many potential could have been's from that era it was a victim of bad timing, the creation of the EPA and their emissions laws, the oil embargo and increasing insurance rates on performance vehicles saw the possibility of the AMX III coming to fruition destroyed.
There were 3 original cars built as I recall and I believe they all still exist along with a few more that over the years were assembled from parts after AMC sold off the unused chassis to the coach builder who originally made the bodies.
What a shame it never came to be, it would have put an American car company right at the top of performance cars.
Great video and very cool Marty is willing to share his knowledge of the AMC’s. What a huge collection of cars for you guys to look at.
This access to an owner is unprecedented. There’s is several AMC’s there that are worthy of restoring or modifying. Wish I had the funds to buy a few of these.
Love your channel, love the AMC information, nice work, thank you, keep them coming
Back in ‘77, I needed a winter car and bought a 69 Rambler American for $100 bucks. It was previously as old New England Telephone service car with 100k miles. Radio delete 199 six with the 3spd on the column. Thing was practically indestructible. I got two winters out of it, and sold it still running for the same $100 I paid. 😂
Great video,thanks Parker,Marty and Ralph
Great knowledge Marty could listen to him all day with his love of those amc’s
These videos are awesome! I hope these cars get to go on the road again sometime. Shame to let all of those go to waste. This video taught me a lot.
Love these videos! We need more. Us younger guys need to find these older guys and get the stories out, car information, and also most importantly, save these treasures. Our automotive history in this country is so important and neat. Fix these cars and enjoy them again. It's our DNA.
Very cool, love the challenger. Nice to see Marty again.
Wealth of intell, Well done Parker!
Another awesome episode Parker, Marty is very knowledgeable much like yourself, great addition to your videos. I personally think you have the best muscle car show on TH-cam.
Had a 68 javlen 232 6 cylinder 3 speed. Loved it. Also had a gremlin yuk. I know a guy who has a red white an blue scrambler. He,s had it from new. He had a shop in NJ. Build the engine. Fast as hell. !!! AMC had a big bad. Blue green. An other. 😊😊
I worked in the service dept of AMC-JEEP dealer back in the 70's and i never knew half this stuff! Thanks!
i worked in brewster amc, jeep and renault when i was young, too bad they closed,
I love these old AMC’s , l owned 4 Jeeps CJ 7’s so that was my gateway in. Very rare to see one at a show but very cool.
this was awsome! grew up playing inside a couple of AMX’s in my dad storage barn now at 56 I need one so bad! Thank you for this brings back so many memories
This video has helped me to really appreciate AMC. Thanks a lot.
Very cool find he was on another TH-cam also . Keep up finding weird amc finds
Loved the Zip Ties and Bias Plies banner at 6 minute mark. Peg would be proud.
😍Oh wow, very cool!!!!!!!!!!!👍
Gotta say thank you for this video. I like Gremlins and Jeeps (cj5). Iused to be teased from the Chevy dudes and th Mopar Gear Heads..till I pulled out my Gremlin. 401 Built, balanced and a fun little car!. It smoked all the 350s, kept up a respectable time with some big blocks..the 360 is by far my go-to in the cjs..strong, dependable, surprising out of a mud hole!! Thank you again!
In 1968 you could get a regular Javelin with a 4 speed and a 390 ci. in. In 1969 and 1970 you had to get the SST Javelin or the Mark Donohue Edition in order to get a 390 ci. in.
I HAD A 69 SST JAVELIN 290 AUTOMATIC GOT FROM DAD IN 1985 DROVE IT UNTIL 91, DAD GOT IT NEW IN 69
Always had a soft spot for 68-70 amx --a guy had one in high school and it was bad ass
Nice collection.Hope they get restored.AMC was always different but cool
That wagon is so cool and brings back memories of my father. He had so many stories about theirs.
Great show, too bad we you didn’t go into details about Ralph’s two nice cars in the garage. I would love to see the convertible in detail.
Thanks for the AMC tour, long long time fan of them
This guy is a walking encyclopedia,YOU GO BROTHER
Thank you for the beautiful movie. I have a rebel 67 stt. It s rare to see a video with so many amc.
I agree . There might be a few AMC Javs and AMX’s , but I am usually the only Gremlin x with a 304 at the shows.
Fantastic collection.
Awesome video, cant wait to see the next one.
For that Yellow AMX with the Tunnel Ram, 95A would have been Sonic Silver Metallic im pretty sure, pretty sharp looking color imo
Yes you’re correct.
Great video
Great vid guys love to see the great interest in AMC I've been all about it since the 70s I would love to see that collection live.
Great video. 👍
i wish i still had my 71 amx with the go pac. it had all the fun stuff on it. the working cow induction with the vacuum air cleaner and gasket it worked real well rear spoiler small spoiler on the roof
Love the 340 4 speed 👍🏻love AMC . 👍🏻💯% 🇦🇺⛽️.
I'd love to buy that 360 Gremlin, I used to own one with a 360 from an AMX in it. The spoilers on those Javelins are the Mark Donahue spoiler which was available on the Mark Donahue Javelins.
Always loved the AMX'S AND JAVELIN'S,WAS AT A CAR SHOW A FEW WEEKS AGO,HOT CHICK WITH A 69 AMX 4 SPEED 390,REAL NICE,THE CAR TO
I absolutely love this channel
Awesome collection
Awesome video. Learned alot.
My buddy had a 1970 marked on you 394 speed factory hood scoop rear spoiler with the marked on used signature That was a sweet call
Wish Marty had talked about AMC/Rambler Group 19 performance parts that were sold at the dealerships.
Awesome… thanks buddy…
The hood tach’s were made by dixco for anc, and gm both.
I’m a big amc fan. I’ve got a 76 hornet x hatchback that is gonna be a father son project for my boy’s first car. It’ll be a 304 and a 3 speed.. great video, subscribed
My grandfather welded those doors on.
My father started amc in 78. We live 20 min from the old factory. You see amc our here like mosquitoes.
Thanks!
i think the sunroof was a dealer option u see a lot of amc spirit amx's with them
That 71 amc that was said to come from a san francisco amc car dealer, was the dealer my dad got his 69 javelin from
great now i got to go NJ for a AMX
I drove an amc amx at a large auction once. While making sure the car would move I got in and shut the door and the side mirror popped out and shattered.
Marry is walking encyclopedia.
The silver shakers they stopped doing because of sun glare.
After that, they are painted flat black. Red is the only color the shaker matches the body color.
I thought 70 was all silver shakers(except red Cudas) and 71 was all black shakers(except red cudas with red bumpers), minus a couple really early 71’s that used the leftover silver shakers?
I finally bought a 1968 AMC AMX Base 5.6L automatic. But it's hard to get parts for it
Had a friend in Ohio back in the '70's that had a 360 hornet automatic, not sure of the cfm but it was a beast.
Enjoyed your videos ( all I've seen ) is Marty on the interwebs too
He seems like a good AMC guy too
Sorry I don’t have any other social media. I like my privacy. Any questions reach out to Parker and he can get you in touch with me.
@@LetsFNgo thanks much Martin
I greatly appreciate you sharing your knowledge
I had a 68 javelin sst 390 4spd posi with the go package and manual disc and manual steering
I traded it for a 70 chevelle with AC for my family to have AC here in Texas back around 1989
I regret getting rid of it
I want to get another javelin some day
Thanks again
Great video and i may need to get in contact whit you but it is difficult when i´am living in Sweden and restoring a SC/Rambler here and it is the only one in Sweden, i have many NOS parts for Rambler/AMC but some parts for SC is hard to get at fair price, B/R to you all
We had Rambler wagons in 🇦🇺👍🏻.
My Mom had a 74 Matador 2 door; always liked them and Marlins. Hate Gremlins,Hornets and Pacers- sorry. Loved Rebels,AMX and Javalins.
Man, great information, I currently have a 1964 rambler American 440 convertible with 29k miles and a blown headgasket, finding performance engine parts in northeast Florida is impossible, so considering a G M or ford, I would also like to find a "machine" scoop with the tach for mine, anyhow cool video.
Try 'AMC LIVES' in Cocoa Beach Fl
So many cool AMC's. Is that a MKVI GTI I noticed at the beginning of the vid?
No it’s a 2015 TDI I use as a commuter for work. Bought it with 10k in 2017 and it’s got 146 on it now. Great car.
@martinm5964 Yeeeeuup! It'll run for many miles! Love your channel. I'm a lifelong AMC enthusiast AND I own a MKVII GTI.❤️
Long live AMC muscle! 💪🏼
🏆Very cool 👀🍀Got R Done😎✌️
Great video, I love that last Scrambler! Where is the owner located? Thanks!
Flemington NJ
I have a picrure of my parents in their 20's stting in my Dad's new AMC RAMBLER CONVERTABLE ALL RED,THEY JUST WENT ON 65 YRS,WISH I HAD A RAMBLER,CANT GET PAST 7 YRS MARRIED TWICE
Reminds me of a yard in southern New Hampshire, large AMC collection.
Any chance you’d be able to give me any info about the yard? I’d love to go up there sometime and walk around. I’m the guy in the video BTW.
@@LetsFNgo Route 125 Kingston about a mile from the Plaistow border, right hand side headed north.
@@Chris-bz6wl is there a way to contact whoever owns the yard? Or is it a business?
@@LetsFNgo it’s kinda both lol, the only contact I had with him was through a buddy that had his scrambler worked on there, I’ll try to reach him and see if he has any contact info. In the meantime take a look, the address of the yard SHOULD be 143 Route 125 , Kingston,NH 03848.
@@LetsFNgo sorry it’s 41 Route 125
Like that name,big bad orange
If anyone is interested Maple Motors in Hendersonville, Tenn. currently has a driver quality '69 AMX for sale.
Wwwwoooowwwwww!!!!
390 and 401 had forged internals if I remember.
Yes you’re correct. Everything else was cast crank and rods.
I had a Amx also in 1993 people had no clue what it was even other muscle car people
Where is this place located?
Yee Yee
I want an amx so bad
My uncle has a 1964 rambler ambassador 990H
71's had an 8 grand tach, 72 and up had the 7 grand tach.
Your comment made me look into this and you’re correct. Sorry about that. Now I know going forward.
I had a 1969 AMC AMX Hurst/SS it had the original 390-4barrel in it when I bought it. Had the headers in the trunk still in the AMC wrap tape. The car had a inline shift pattern Hurst 4 speed shifter on a Borg Warner super t10 transmission with the separate reverse shifter. It was car number 1236 and it had 2350 original miles on it when I bought it in 1985. I really regret selling that car
I can only imagine how much you do. I’ve had some I regret selling too. Yours was something else though. Wow.
i saw a hurst amx on ebay maybe 15-20 years ago. down in phoenix area i seem to remember and the price was pretty cheap. was that yours?
I het someone already snapped up the wagon
Mark donahue
What a bunch of junk. They were parted out & now they're scrap metal.
Well that’s just like, your opinion man.
To the non car guy uninformed sis male. Such as yourself I can see that
Why cry over junk cars? Take a valium.@@scottbickett6458
We're is this place at? I'm interested in buying a vehicle.
Flemington NJ
I hate people who let cars rot
Marty, what a nice guy very knowledgable ! The biggest question of the viewers is if his dad has more money in his private car collection or in grocery bills you don’t get a son that big by not feeding him 😂 respect 🫡
