What a find. I'm a fellow Iowan, live about a half hour north of ya. About 20 years ago I had a neighbor give me a 1970 Amc Hornet that had been in their machine shed since the 80s. I messed around with it off and on over a few weeks and got it running and driving, it's been a fair weather cruiser for me ever since. it's almost the same green exterior color with red and green plaid interior. It has the smaller 232 inline 6 and a 4 speed. It's not a fast car, it's not a "cool" car, but pretty much everytime I drive it anywhere a random old timer will wonder over and tell me about how they haven't seen an Amc in decades and ask me all about it, people still seem to have a sweet spot in their hearts for them.
Yeah, my mother had a green Hornet. It wouldn’t go into 3rd. So she’d get that thing screaming in 2nd, straight to 4th. What a treat it was to get dropped off at school! No wonder I wasn’t popular! Hahahaha
I really like how Kevin rolls right up to the sidewalk by the store and dumps antifreeze all over the place then goes inside and buys an ice cream. Classy...
A splash of coolant on the sidewalk is a far cry from the half eaten chicken and shit filled diapers that are rountinely left in a casey's parking lot. Calm down there.
Taking your car out for her maiden voyage after you've spent months buying parts, waiting for shipping, using every weekend to wrench on her. And then, she finally fires up. There's no other feeling like it. When I finally fired up my 69' Datsun 510, I drove it to Little Caesars and ordered a pepperoni pizza. Ate the whole thing right there in the parking lot with the biggest grin on my face. Miss that car.
When I was going to Penn Tech in Williamsport (middle of nowhere), we pulled up to this little store and we had all these oily rags we didn't know what to do with, so my dad told me to distract the guy while he shoved them in their trashcan. Then we bought ice cream, drove away, and overheated 3 miles away. I
Can’t wait to watch all of this. We’re actually recovering a 1967 AMC rebel SST next week, so this is pretty damn cool. UPDATE: Guy who has the car won’t be able to see us for a month, so I’m going to try to push out the first video in the next week. Stay tuned!
I have a 72 waiting for the engine to be put together and re-installed. Factory air, my grandparents purchased it brand new off the lot in 72. Watching this definitely gives me a reason to get the work done.
The bit at 40:15 when you start walking back from picking up the wrench and the sight of the car sitting on its own in the environment from a distance hits you is SO wholesome, I love that feeling
Thank you! This video made me miss my first car: 1976 AMC Gremlin. I drove the wheels off that car. Truly a car I could work on. I replaced the brakes, water pump, radiator among other minor fixes. Lots of room in the engine bay. What a car!
This is great! I used to own a 1973 Gremlin X that had a 301 V-8 with a 3-speed stick in it. Had a factory 350 rear in it. It was a little screamer on the road. Poor gas mileage due to the V-8 and the 350 rear, but FUN to drive. Lots of luck with this beauty.
Cool fact, my grandfather was a foreman in one of the Pittsburg, Pennsylvania steel mills that made the metal for AMC. It's very likely my grandfather passed off the steel this car was made out of.
This is a true 1974 Barn Find Survivor! Never knew I needed Gremlin X content in my life, but it's such a kool looking car! We all need to see content on this monthly, if not weekly. Great find Kevin and Mook!
I remember having to change the head gasket of my brothers 74 Gremlin that was black on green in the middle of winter when I was 18. Darn the memories of the pain I went through Michigan winter and snowing but I do remember having a blast spending time with my brother back then. 31 year old memories gave me a nice smile. Great video.
Wow. This is the first time I saw this channel. I was attracted because a coworker of mine waaaay back in high school drove a gremlin. His was a ‘semi automatic’ but the color green no matter what! I don’t know ANYTHING about cars, and I am still astonished that it would even start let alone run. I am inspired to learn more about vehicles. Especially those from our past. If this old Gremlin could work after decades of neglect, then it proves that anything is possible with a little know how ✌️❤️🔥
semi automatic or automatic? semi auto means that it is automatic but has a function to allow it to switch to manual mode, like what some newer cars have. for example a 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports is a automatic, but I can move the stick into manual mode and then I can use the shifter levers on the steering wheel and shift manually. but a automatic just has one lever that has a P for park, N for natural, D for drive, a D1 and D2, and sometimes a D3, and an R for reverse. I don't think we had automatic/manual (semi automatic) cars back then.
I worked at a Pontiac/AMC dealership back in the 70's. Those engines were pretty good. The only thing I saw was hi-oil consumption due to bad valve stem seals. I replaced a TON of them. I owned a Hornet Wagon, which is pretty much the same car, just longer. As simple and reliable as a 16 oz Stanley Claw Hammer.
My friend's parents had a Hornet too. That thing was a tank and only died when the rust ate it all up! (Ohio roads are salted like it is going out of style)
I noticed over the years that of all the cars out there, AMC cars seem to never rust or very little rust. They must have either used a good quality steel or had a great undercoat on them.
WOKE UP FEELING anxious really low but there's certain channels that cheer me up and to see ive got a whole hour of Kev to take my mind off things is a real relief
The color and design of the AMC is very nice and rare. You will not find any other cars like that on the road. You are lucky to have a nice body car like that
This one hurts my heart. My grandpa had an old AMC Gremlin, and he loved that thing. After he passed, my grandma sold it and the family talks about it often. It was nothing special, far from perfect. He used sheet metal and pop rivets to patch all the rust holes, so it was all faded yellow and aluminum paneling. Lots of memories growing up riding in that car. Thanks for the memories.
I bought a new '72 and a '74 Gremlin and they were great cars, both with the 258 motor, Chrysler Torqueflite auto trans, A/C, P/S and P/B. Think I paid 1900 for the new 72 and 2200 for the '74. Excellent, dependable and inexpensive cars for my young family. You see these "worst car" lists and they will usually have a Gremlin. Problem there is, the dudes compiling these lists are morons who never owned any of the cars they are trashing especially the Gremlins.
@@Chisos1 His ran like a clock. Started up just fine in the dead of winter. I was too young to really know a lot about cars so I have no idea what engine or options it had. Every american car from that era had rust issues, and yea, they could have gone with higher quality materials but that would have driven up the cost.
@@Chisos1 Amc,s were far better cars than most people knew.I had a73 amx javelin ,brother had a gremlin and a hornet with a 304.All very good cars. The gremlin had good ac that always worked very good.
Gremlins are awesome, please, if you can, keep any and all gremlin content coming. There’s not much footage on these cars and I think they are super underrated and overlooked. Super quirky and super cool. Best content in my opinion is the weird stuff just like this
And unless V8'd, they can still be daily driven without prohibitive gas bills, especially with Thunderhead289 around. As for tires, the easy way is to get wheel/tire sets from junkyards that only need to bolt up and not hit the body, regardless of rim diameter.
A buddy of mine had a Pacer in HS. One time, he, another friend, and I were riding around doing nothing but causing trouble. Back in the day, they sold these soda bottles that were around 12 oz. and were glass with this plastic thin foam type stuff on it that went around the bottom. You could carefully pull the foam down below the bottle, creating a 2-3" air pocket. Then, if you hit it right, it would make a loud popping noise. So my buddy in the front seat had done a bottle just right and we drove right by these two dudes walking on the sidewalk. My friend "pops" that bottle and it was perfect -- sounded just like a gunshot blast and those two guys hit the ground! We kept driving. I don't know if they ever figured out it was us, but if so, I'm sure they were pissed! Just a small sample of the trouble we got into in that car.
I really appreciate how you apply comprehended textbook knowledge to new situations i.e. the way Mopar transmissions lube. School changes a repairman into an actual mechanic faster than turning wrenches and learning by mistakes.
I really enjoyed this video! Never owned a Gremlin, had a friend with a Pacer. but I would love to see this little gem restored some and it would be great to see the progress. Thanks Kevin, thanks Mook!
Pul dash back or remove, heatercore may have rats near on top. When the heat on the smell is mind boggling horrific! Lucky for you this Gremlin has power steering!
In a few weeks I’m going to be visiting a 1959 Canadian GMC with a 235 and trying to get it going. I forgot about the boat tank for fuel, that’s a great idea and that’s what I’m going to get. One exhaust valve is stuck but it did spin over.
My first car was a '73 w/ 4.2 in mid 80's Loved that car, never let me down. I did however drop a 304, 3- speed in it out of a Levi's edition. Retained original rearend and ate Mustang 5.0's and Nissan 300x's for breakfast light to light. Seeing you revive this gem (not crap car) brought a tear to my eyes. Thank You so much!!
@@mark8lifestyle322 The 304 V8 was an option and the large 258 (4.2 Litre on rear deck) was standard. (There were two smaller versions of this engine (3 if you count the 4.0 Jeep) and those are the 199 and 232.) However, I am surprised this car does not have the 4 gauge pod beneath the middle of the dash or the gated floor shifter as those are found on all the Gremlin X cars I have seen. It also has the wrong wheels but the right size tires, center caps and trim rings.
it's crazy and amazing how you start watching a bunch of separate people on youtube and then they all start interacting and making videos with eachother.
Like one day here i'm gonna see a Diesel Creek + Brandon Hererra + Junkyard digs(or mix and match as you'd like) collab video and it's going to be amazing.
Whenever I take my Yugo to our local orileys or any gas station I always get people coming up to me lol. The 9 hour drive home from where I bought it in TN in 2019 was filled with thumbs up from truckers.
A win for AMC 's gremlin. That shot on the road when you got out for the wrench was really cool. The green , a favorite color of mine , and the black wheels was the right look for that car. Get proper tires and leave it alone , well maybe nice redo on interior. Very cool car. ❤👍👍👍✌
Neat little car... A survivor. I'm 45 and my very first ride in a car was in a Gremlin that my folks had at the time, Up through the 80s they were plentiful then most of them went to rust away or get crushed. This car is nice enough to be worth a new interior and all the other work.
I always loved the Gremlin! Not my most favorite, but definitely a quirky and unique car! It's unbelievable at how good of shape it's in, and can't wait to see what you do with it! ❤
Before cranking the engine that was sitting for a long time it's better to take spark plugs out and put some motor oil into cylinders. That will definitely help to save cylinder walls during the very first piston moves and create so called oil compression in the case if piston rings are worn and weak.
@@512Squared No I am not. Indeed. But I understand logic and it's perfectly logical what he does with the car. He uses it to shoot a video and does not restore it and doesn't need to take all the care for it. And he turned the motor and it was free enough, so yeah.
My uncle worked at Overland Park AMC/Jeep back in the day and I remember seeing these new on the lot. Always liked the quirkiness of these. looking forward to seeing what you do with it.
My grandfather owned an AMC-Jeep dealership. I worked there one summer in the garage. We had Concords, Pacers and Eagles. He also had the Pontiac and GMC dealership at the location. It was fun working there.
My first NEW CAR in 1976 was a Gremlin. Didn't take long for me to put a set of Hooker headers, dual exhaust with cutouts, three duces and an Edelbrock intake on it. 50's on the rear, 60's on the front. It was a mean, green, screaming machine! Miss my old ride, just watching this video!
I absolutely LOVE this 'Rated X' adventure with the Gremlin, so jealous because it's so rust-free! I have a '74 AMC Matador coupe the exact same interior/exterior color combo, drivetrain,a d factory a/c that I did basically the same thing you did in your video a few years back to get her home under her own power after sitting for MANY years! On the way back home some chap pulled up next to me at a traffic light and offered to buy it on the spot as his dad had one just like it back in the day and his dad (and he) LOVED that car from new and all the years his family had it! I miss AMC, Marlins, Matadors and Gremmies forever... ❤
My first three cars when I was 16 were Gremlins. I absolutely loved all of them but of course at the time I didn’t appreciate them. I would love to find one again at an affordable price. Love the car buddy. I am definitely envious.
I love when you guys do cars like this, the oddities. I'd honestly love to see you guys go back to the farm where you got the S10 and the GMC 1500 from and work on the Buicks. Those 3800s are indestructible and have a semi following now, especially the forward hooded one. I'm working on a Celebrity myself and they're classic GM, will run forever, the rest just comes off over time.
@@BariLopesh After the video some idiots went on to the property nosing around and harassed the family about the vehicles and they told Kevin & crew not to come back.
I'm currently in the Air Force, and that sticker you have on the back glass is from my career field, Munitions "Ammo." Noticed it when you first walked to the back of the car at the beginning of the video, really cool.
Haha me too! My grandfather used to say it might be ugly but it will win the race... Later, he took me to a race event and I'll be doggone that thing a gremlin took 2nd place only next to a stock 318 charger on an endurance race! Good times! :)
LOVE that car! I'm 59 and wish my buddy Carey would have kept his Gremlin for 36 years. Those were the days, swimming at the quarry and drinking Little Kings in the Gremlin on the way home in Toledo. ... Good times!
Years ago Hot Rod Magazine did an article about a Pacer-X that had a 4.0l Fuel injected transplant done. This would be an AWESOME swap to do in the Gremlin.
Man I love that all my favorite you tubers are getting together with demo ranch. Matt is an awesome guy and everyone will get to hang out and get to know him 👍🏻👍🏻
Yes yes yes yes YESSSSS another AMC and a GREAT choice this time! Love this thing... and we have some reallllly good ideas for this thing once you're done making it home! Think of the fun we could have if we did just a FEW minor upgrades for power and enjoyability... we need to discuss! OR just sell it to us ;)
Hey Kev and Mook! My hat and stickers came yesterday and I love 'em! Another AMC! I don't know why but I'm an AMC fan. My older brother had an 83 Spirit GT. It was pretty sweet. I'd love to have an Eagle with the 4wd , your videos on those 2 were some of my favorites. Looking forward to the Gremlin resurrection!
I agree, it’s a cool car now. Not many around, guess people used/abused these. AMC made a ton of them. Also, thanks for doing all the AMCs on this channel.
Brings back memories! I bought a 1974 Gremlin X brand new in 1974 and loved it! Mine had the 232 engine with 3-speed stick, and it was pretty snappy. It always ran well, but rusted out from under me by 1978 0r 79. One of my most vivid memories of that car was when, on a sub-zero day here un upstate NY, my wife and went to a store in a town about 30 miles north of home. The driver's door had rusted so that I had to lift up on it in order to open or close it, and when I got back in to start for home, I shut the door and the entire drivers side window shattered into tiny pieces, landing right in my lap! the door had rusted right through at the window posts. Cold ride home!
You should also add some 2 cycle oil or Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel when you are trying to start up a very old engine ,the cylinders need the oil on the top to help seal the rings and keep the cylinders from getting damaged ..It helps out the carburetor also
@@JustinCombs-jk1kh MMO ,2 to 3 ounces per gallon of gas/fuel would be fine since it is not as heavy as a 2cycle oil ..2 cycle oil, no more than 1 ounce per gallon in a 4 cycle engine but a 50 to 1 ratio is safe but don't go over that ratio and use 87 octane fuel because it will ignite faster ... ..
I always pull each sparkplug and pump into each cylinder about an ounce of diesel fuel. let it set for several minutes, turn the engine over a few rotations by hand, and then hit the starter with the plugs still removed. After spinning the engine using the starter, I then re-install the plugs and hit it with a little ether. Works quite well to insure against a frozen ring damaging a dry cylinder wall. On engines that have been setting for as long as long as this one, I will also drain the oil and the replace it with two to three gallons of diesel. Then I let is set several hours - preferably overnight. Then I spin the motor over, manually at first and then using the starter. Sometimes I will even pull the distributor. Using an old distributor shaft, less the cam gear, I will circulate the diesel throughout the oiling system using that shaft and a drill to engage the oil pump. Then I let it set for an hour or so. Then the diesel is drained and I replace it with the cheapest motor oil and filter I can find. "As long as it has an ASI rating it is 'good 'nuff'. It ain't going to be in there long, anyway. Can you say '"Super-Tech and FRAM? Then I start 'er up, let it come to full operating temp, shut it off, and immediately drain the oil, and pull the filter. It is amazing how much filth is removed from the engine. Then I put in better motor oil and install the best oil filter I can find. Ah, no thank you FRAM. .
@@charliecharles-xw4ub It sounds like a really good thing to do with and old engine that has been sitting up for a very long time .. The oil on the cylinder walls have drained off after many years . ...The current gasoline with ethanol is very dry with no lubricant quality .The older leaded fuel was very oily smelling and had upper cylinder lubrication ...
@@VIDSTORAGEL The lubrication provided diesel fuel is sufficient that it will actually support a running engine - at least for a while. I've actually done this with an old engine I intended to rebuild - or not. When I did this I purposefully ran the engine to the point of seizure, and did so at high RPM's. My attitude was that if it literally grenaded I didn't care. Amazingly, the engine ran fine for about 15 minutes and ever-so-slowly dragged to a grinding stop. Also amazing was there was very little knocking until right before it seized. that it didn't really break anything was most surprising. It did, however, result in the destruction the crank and rod bearings main and rod caps, plus scaring of the crank journals. I believed it would suddenly experience a catastrophic end, and it didn't. That's how well regular old diesel will protect the internals of an engine. The other aspect of introducing diesel into the engine and flushing the entire oiling system is diesel breaks down a lot of crap that builds up within an engine. In many respects it is a lot like the solvents used in parts cleaners. ( Hmm... Another experiment I simply have to give a go.. Cleaning solvent in the crankcase. Interesting. I've put numerous old engines back into service using this technique and have never once had a bad outcome due to having done so. Will it save every engine? I'm sure it won't, but I suspect such engines aren't worth saving in the first place.
My father was a AMC executive and we use to have 6 month company lease cars to drive and evaluate. I was just starting driving in the mid 70s and we had a blue Gremlin for a while. I loved it then, and if you could look in the engine bay, you can see the ground - there is so few air pollution engineering on them. That all change with the California emission requirements, we had a Matador that was hoses everywhere.
I bought one of those when they first came out. It was not a bad car. It rode nice, got very good gas mileage, it was pretty quick. If I remember correctly it had a 20-gallon tank gas tank.
It's amazing to see you get the Gremlin to its new home running as shakey as it did. Not that there was any doubt you would, one way or another. I watched Dal'un at PBG do some body work on the 'Silver Dollar' Silverado tonight and there was a teaser referencing the up and coming collaboration for our vtewing pleasure next week. Looking forward to that for sure. I'm guessing as of this moment you're on your way, so stay safe and have too much fun, it is possible. Good night all.

Why do we see you do almost the same thing to every old car but it’s just endlessly entertaining! Please don’t ever stop making vids this is what I fall asleep to at night
The gremlin is my absolute dream car. I’m glad to see one in such great shape. Thank you so much junkyard digs for the awesome videos. You guys are awesome.
My brother had one same year, similarly equipped . It was kind of a purple color with gold hockey stripe. It’s surprising to find one that hasn’t self destructed 😂 they were known to do that, my brother’s did 😂😂😂
I've been waiting for this video to come out. This car looks like it is in pretty good shape. Today I seen a pretty clean baby blue Gremlin. As a Ford guy I must admit AMCs are pretty cool
Tip for cooling down an overheated engine: don’t open the radiator cap, keep the engine running, then take a coke bottle filled with water and drizzle over the top of the radiator. It will cool down in no time and be a lot less dangerous.
This episode brought back memories. Way back when I owned a used Gremlin that ran great after a little work. On the way back from Montreal to Long Island, I heard the distinctive sound of a belt being thrown. Since my steering was fine, I knew it was the fanbelt. I pulled over to make sure the belt was clear and wouldn't take out anything else. The water pump was seized. I had a good 10 miles to the next exit, so I started driving. I quickly realized the temp stayed normal if I maintained 60 mph. Since it was late at night with little traffic, I just kept going. No problem doing the last 200 miles.
There were a bunch of these with 304 V-8s and some people used to swap in 390s or even 401s. A car in this great of shape deserves a power-up. The Torqueflite can handle it!
I would love to see an actual engine build series on your channel. Going into detail on the process like Freiburger and Dulcich did a number of years ago on MT+. It was a great series but not the easiest to find on there and I think watching you do the same thing would be absolutely spectacular!
What a great car, and incredible condition. Hope you keep it original as possible. Not many Gremlin X’s around in original condition (I’d probably opt for some new seats!)
Wow this bring backs a few memories, mine was the 304 V8, 3 speed std, in outrageous purple. I remember my finest moment doing 80mph with three of my mates standing on the rear bumper, hanging on to the roof rack for dear life...those were the days!!!
I loved the AMC lineup as a kid! I had a hornet and a javelin and of course an old gremlin with very little work I made all of them fast with some factory and a few after market hot rod parts
I wanted a Gremlin when I was a kid. They used to have them with small portal windows in the 70's with wild paint jobs. Most of AMC cars got bad raps for their styling but I think they were just ahead of their time. They are like fine wine and only get better with age.
I’m insanely jealous, you got my dream Gremlin in the same spec and color I would’ve picked. If you ever do more with it I’ll be sure to watch. Been watching/subscribed for years now and you have no idea how happy it makes me to see you guys play with AMCs, not many people out there do. I’m also rootin’ for you guys to pick up a Pacer in a future episode. Definitely preordering the shirt for sure!!

@@antibanplay your going to import one?
What an incredible find. Couldn't believe it when you had it idling nicely after sitting for so long.
I was in Chicago when I had mine. Did you put cardboard in front of the radiator for heat like I did?
Dude that Gremlin is AWESOME. I'd love to see more of it!!!
Oddly enough, I'm a big fan of gremlins and pacers. They came in some great colors.
If this old Gremlin could work after decades of neglect, then it proves that anything is possible with a little know how ✌️❤️🔥
PS. Another title to this video could be…’A Gremlin Resurrected’.
semi automatic or automatic? semi auto means that it is automatic but has a function to allow it to switch to manual mode, like what some newer cars have. for example a 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports is a automatic, but I can move the stick into manual mode and then I can use the shifter levers on the steering wheel and shift manually. but a automatic just has one lever that has a P for park, N for natural, D for drive, a D1 and D2, and sometimes a D3, and an R for reverse.
Yep..
Amen
hang in there things will get better!
A little corny with the jokes but I enjoy watching
You know summer time is here when Kevin and mook are doing some badass revivals
About the same memories for me. Lot of childhood memories riding with grandpa/grandma. I believe it was a stick shift.
This takes me back.took 5 kids camping.check the floor in back probably roted.had one for 4 years.good luck with restoration😅
I love these recovery videos! Its so cool finding something that everybody thinks is lost forever and bring it back to life.
Ozone generators can also get rid of residual mouse stink without total interior replacement, maybe even saving an original carpet or seat.
I would get the ice cream and pizza before adding water to the radiator.
I've heard many people complain about AMC cars, but I absolutely loved the Pacer!
Thats a first!
The Gremlin was the prototype Mirth Mobile. My sister had one. It was a piece of crap to drive. But then, at the time I was driving a '66 GTO.
Yeah I really would love this thing all fixed up with a new interior and the lingering problems sorted out
Pul dash back or remove, heatercore may have rats near on top. When the heat on the smell is mind boggling horrific! Lucky for you this Gremlin has power steering!
A guy I worked with back in 77 had a Gremlin !! Huge boots on the back and it went pretty good !!
In a few weeks I’m going to be visiting a 1959 Canadian GMC with a 235 and trying to get it going. I forgot about the boat tank for fuel, that’s a great idea and that’s what I’m going to get. One exhaust valve is stuck but it did spin over.
As a huge hot wheels collector of gremlins, this video was absolutely fantastic!! Thank you! Safe travels!!!
How did you know that we would ever need an hour long video? 😲 I'm impressed with how well these run on startup!
These X models were race track ready straight off the show Room floor
@@FriendlyRider88 Fitted with top of the line drums and leaf springs
I thought a Gremlin X would have been a 304 V8.
@@mark8lifestyle322 I also thought that the Gremlin X was a V8 from the factory. I actually went straight to the comments to say so.
The body on that car is in such great shape! I hope there will be more episodes on this one!
I grew up driving around with my Dad in a purple 73 Gremlin X. This brings back memories!
it's crazy and amazing how you start watching a bunch of separate people on youtube and then they all start interacting and making videos with eachother.
I agree. We just have great taste in video watching! Have a good evening fellow connoisseur. Cheers.
Gremlins are one of my fav lil nuggets of a car 💙
That's a neat little ride. There's something about old school 2-door hatch/coupes that are just plain fun.
I had a relative who had one of those. That little six ran strong. It had a lot of torque and would accelerate quite nicely. They were a fun car.
Penetrating oil in cylinders for sure
He turned the motor, it was free. Nothing much to it
@@noostNLnot a mechanic are you 😂
It has iron rings it's fine
@@512Squared No I am not. Indeed. But I understand logic and it's perfectly logical what he does with the car. He uses it to shoot a video and does not restore it and doesn't need to take all the care for it. And he turned the motor and it was free enough, so yeah.
Watching Kevin fall in love with the Gremlin the more he drove it was awesome! I had a '75 briefly and loved it, wish I still had it. ☹️
I'd love to see a full revival of this car!
Would love to see more of this gremlin, it looks like such a great/ fun project, great job guys!
Those old Inline AMC motors are such good engines its sad to see so few on the road anymore best jeep engine ever made
Ive wanted one of these for years!!! You lucky duck!!!!!
When I look at the time for the vid and if it's over 40 minutes I celebrate

Good thing it was in a Shed! It's actually really nice
I love when you guys do cars like this, the oddities. I'd honestly love to see you guys go back to the farm where you got the S10 and the GMC 1500 from and work on the Buicks. After that pressure washing and bath man that green paint is quite gorgeous
Years ago Hot Rod Magazine did an article about a Pacer-X that had a 4.0l Fuel injected transplant done. This would be an AWESOME swap to do in the Gremlin.
I think it would be the perfect swap.

This was my first car when I was 18 years old, I am in my 60’s now. Memories!
Never thought the day would come when 2 of my favorite TH-camrs would do a collab, ad they’re from 2 completely different worlds. Can’t wait!!
I agree, it’s a cool car now. Not many around, guess people used/abused these. AMC made a ton of them. Also, thanks for doing all the AMCs on this channel.
I love the AMC content! They're great cars with lots of character in their styling.
Heck on mine the door fell off it was that rusty around the hinges.
You should also add some 2 cycle oil or Marvel Mystery Oil in the fuel when you are trying to start up a very old engine ,the cylinders need the oil on the top to help seal the rings and keep the cylinders from getting damaged ..It helps out the carburetor also
About how much?

That was one of the most satisfying pressure washings I've seen.

I had a 72 that my grandma gave to me for graduation. Thanks granny. The chicks loved me.
Had an orange 75 in high school.. it saw more action than the dweebs in the 70 Chevelle's! I bought it for 60 bucks off a horse farm. This was 1985
I love the Gremlin, such a rad little ride.
Kev is a genius of old cars revivals , keep up the good work guys and girl , get that junk back on the road !! Cause they look good !
It will cool down in no time and be a lot less dangerous.
also turn the heat up on full blast to pull it from the engine
This episode brought back memories. Way back when I owned a used Gremlin that ran great after a little work. On the way back from Montreal to Long Island, I heard the distinctive sound of a belt being thrown. Since my steering was fine, I knew it was the fanbelt. I pulled over to make sure the belt was clear and wouldn't take out anything else. The water pump was seized. I had a good 10 miles to the next exit, so I started driving. I quickly realized the temp stayed normal if I maintained 60 mph. Since it was late at night with little traffic, I just kept going. No problem doing the last 200 miles.
i’m not doing so hot and your videos keep me going. keep up the hard work
Hope you are feeling more positive today, Matt.
Me either. Been rehabbing from 8 surgeries since last July in a nursing home. God I want to get out of this place.
There were a bunch of these with 304 V-8s and some people used to swap in 390s or even 401s. A car in this great of shape deserves a power-up. The Torqueflite can handle it!
Don't forget the Roadkill Hemi Gremmi!
And quite a few of them came stock from the factory of huge engines they got pretty good gas mileage to

My brother’s Gremlin X was that crazy purple 😂
A 403 (or whatever the big AMC V8 was) would be cool swapped in there with some kind of overdrive Auto or 5 speed for relaxed highway crusiing.
