I love this episode from January 28th 2019... So true would fly fishing and how it connects you to your environment and to Nature and engages you hundred percent your thought your hope your anticipation... Wonderful story love the motivation thank you CBS
Just so you know you can fly fish in any body of water with great success it does not have to be a flowing river and trout bass respond very well to fly fishing especially top floating flies like Whoppers... You can fly them with any light weight fishing pole... In my leg I use a 30 foot bamboo Pole to put the fly way out in the water... When the fish strikes you simply lift the pole straight up fish comes up over your head and you drop the fish behind you onto the grass and remove the hook... Flying motion can still be simulated with a short Pole teasing the fish as the fly glances over the water landing periodically to be removed by the fisherman and then returned several times before it lays on the water top has the fisherman jiggles the fly very very very lightly... Bass sit underneath waiting for the bug to succumb to the water and then strike ferociously... Sometimes they will strike while the fly is still moving above the water period. And sometime they will strike while you are jiggling your popper fly. The proper is a small piece of Styrofoam with painted eyes and small feathers and small streams Cut to about one eighth of an inch 1/4 of an inch and half an inch, those feathers and those strings appear like the legs of the flying insect to the bass below also bluegill bream and sunfish love taking a shot at the popper... Does not have to be a floating River does not have to be trout... Fish with a popper lure slash fly and you will be addicted
