    Thanks Nat, that was fun. Now we have a new rabbit hole🥺! The Calyx organization is interesting. Support, not as comforting.

      I'm only seeing mixed evidence that anyone actually wants to listen to my videos ramblings, but I'll keep posting stuff when I have both a topic and time. I keep meaning to do a video on the PineTab, but I'm having trouble getting the motivation to do a whole video about how it's useless because computers without good keyboards are useless.

      @@NatTuck more videos about PINE64 efforts with this presentation style would be amazing. it's a really promising, if not strange, space.

    Fairphone 4 Europe only. Teracube designed in the US and based in Washington state. e/os is a part of now called Murena in Europe.

      I hadn't seen Teracube before. Looks like it's suffering from the same issue as the early Fairphone, where they're trying to push sustainability without pushing open source. Hardware that doesn't ship with open source software is just e-waste.

    This is great, is there any way we can get an ultimate video how to install these os? I ask because no matter what I do I look up people installing the OS and they're like one to two years old and the method never works

      I did a video installing CalyxOS: th-cam.com/video/N2_PvmCW_00/w-d-xo.html
      I went through the process on a new phone a couple months ago and the process is still basically the same as in the video.

    Nat, I need Whatsapp for my work. is it enough to install LineageOs on my old phone for exclusive use of whatsapp app alone (maybe buy a new additional phone for my private use, also with LineageOS). Or by using an old phone already identified by Google before (whatsapp, telephone number) even if I install LineageOs, when installing Whatsapp app Google links the device with my old identity?

      Sure. Isolating untrusted apps to a dedicated untrusted device makes a lot of sense, and having a device for one app is the extreme of that.

    What about I. E. M. number can't good track this number of the phone on location ?? Even if you install de Google system

    • @NatTuck
      @NatTuck  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Google doesn't track de-googled phones at all, beyond what they can do for any computer. The software that they use to track the phones isn't installed. Your cell carrier can still track you based on your phone number and the phone's IMEI.

    What's your position on just ditching smartphones entirely and using a laptop with a SIM card slot for cellular functions and mobile internet?

    • @NatTuck
      @NatTuck  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My pockets aren't big enough to fit a laptop. Laptops aren't good at waking from sleep on incoming phone calls or text messages. Aside from those two issues, that sounds like a great plan. Once Linux phone software gets a bit more mature, those should be a best of both worlds option.
