How in the hell is this 42 years ago and still just as fresh and memorable as can be?! You know how many children were born between then and now, this being 2024? Wow!
I was born in '69 also. Great time to be born because we caught the great 70's music from our older siblings, grew up in the 80's and witnessed the most all encompassing, creative music ever produced in one decade which will NEVER be equaled, let alone surpassed and then we caught the periodic excellence of the 90's before all originality and creativity totally disappeared in the 2000's. We were the lucky ones for sure. We are the mid Generation X'ers and no one will ever understand what we already know. Music excellence that will never be reached again!
This song was on an 80s music compilation CD, sold through a commercial in the late 90s or early 2000s. I remember being terrified when a clip from this video came up in the commercial, primarily the heads flying at the screen during the chorus. Around 25 years later, it's still horrifying. At least it's a good song.
@@deltaalfa3521 Old enough to vividly remember said commercial in question. Also vividly remember "Shout" by Tears for Fears was on that commercial. What does it matter to you what my exact age is?
This vastly underrated hypnotic masterpiece is dazzlingly addictive and totally irresistible and for reasons mostly unknown, makes me see and feel the sunshine of winter times cold after glow of lies, another broken relationship.
Its literally just a bot, the only people who speak like that are pretentious pricks, Hollywood jagoffs and critics. Sentences extremely similar to this one are very common amongst TH-cam's plethora of bots. However this one is slightly more advanced since it edited its own comment.
When I was a kid in the late 90s, I saw a commercial for an 80s compilation set that played brief clips of songs with their music videos. This song showed up right at the end, and all they played was the woman's head zooming in at 1:35. Freaked. Me. Out.
I remember. That used to air on Cartoon Network on almost a daily basis back in 1999. And yeah, that shot of her head growing or shrinking within the frame always stood out to me as the most memorable visual element of that promo.

The nurse hit the bullseye, I always felt like she was about to stick that thermometer through the tv and into my mouth! Great video!!! And the happy monster in the car, lol!
Let’s see here, where do I start? I remember seeing this song on a commercial from the 90s. This was a little bit before p2p sites and Napster. It was one of those cheesy 80s compilation CDs. I laughed. Years later I saw this EP at some record store, can’t remember exactly where. Bought it for laughing at. When the fashion cycle came back I started to really enjoy the song. This is about all the lies we tell/hear even by members of authority. These lyrics perfectly sum it up. They were the real under dogs and expressed it poetically while being cheesy and soft.
"They're astronauts, they fought for our country!"🤣
Lies lies lies yeah😂😂😂
Grilled Cheese Deluxe 🧀🍔

We're ordering some Grilled Cheese Deluxe with this one! 🔥
Since the original comment is gone...
This song makes me want to lie about being an astronaut to cut in line at a sandwich fast food restaurant.
I was looking for that comment as well ☹️
This song sounds like when you are lying to some astronauts and you have an grilled cheese sandwich in your jacket

Wow! 1982 I was 13 years old. Great music at a great time.
Fitting since it was the year JG Quintel was born

Great 80s song and good band. The Thompson Twins are easily one of the best bands of the early and mid 1980s.

One of the Best 80s music ❤👍🙏
This video and its effects absolutely SCREAM the 80s.
We need a New Romantic revival!!!! That would be so awesome 😎

I was 13 watching Toonami, late at night and that commercial came up. After if it was over, I sat there completely frozen haha.
Oddly enough, that exact same commercial is what brought me here today.
I'm a kid from the 80s, but I have totally forgotten about this song, but the regular show brought me here.
When the music was good and the videos were fun. Halcyon days.
This song is still fun to listen to over and over.

Absolutely embarrassing piece of writing.
I was born in 1980, and I remember this song clearly playing while in the backseat of my Mom's car.
Que lindo es que vuelvan a transmitir un show más en cartoon network y escuchar este temazo
