This is the proper way to fill the transmission fluid on a 2002 Isuzu Trooper. Car needs to be on so clutches, lines, trans cooling side on the radiator fills up and lastly the converter. Then is ready to be checked by removing the top Fill plug/Blot, an if the car is running an no trans fluid is dripping once Plug has been removed then add until it does. Thats what i picked up from the video. Very informative thanks. Hope it’s still runs smoothly.
You are correct. Because it’s so difficult to check the level by the average non mechanic person the fluid ran low and eventually destroyed the transmission. Stupid design.
There’s no dip stick. You remove the upper plug and fill it until it comes out then install the plug. Car must be level. That’s it. Stupid design isn’t it.
This wasn’t my vehicle so I can’t tell you how often the fluid was checked. I would guess probably never since the driver was unaware the fluid could be checked. Had this gone to the dealer on a regular basis and fluid checked it could’ve lasted longer than the 200k miles. Proper servicing is always the key however I have 270k on my gmc suburban and the transmission fluid has never been changed, just topped off. It’s still red so I’m leaving it alone. To sum up an answer to your question this transmission has a lot of expensive computer controlled sensors which in my opinion makes it more susceptible to failure. I prefer old school if you can find it.
It is difficult for the average person to check the transmission oil so make sure the car has been serviced properly. The transfer case has electronic sensors and very expensive to repair. Other than that it’s a good vehicle in my opinion as long as it’s been well cared for.

What size was the bolt you have to remove to add the fluid in?
I believe it’s 19mm.
So where is the dipstick for the transmission? And is that really the only way to fill it?

@@JohnVH-diy that is really stupid. It's like replacing a starter in one of them to. So basically I'm fucked.
@@shortygaming100 This was my daughter’s recently purchased truck and the transmission started slipping. Most likely no one checked it for years.

I sold it for 2000. transmission was slipping. Had 4 new tires. Everything else worked fine.
This engineering got to be kidding me
What are the common problems of an isuzu trooper? Im planning to buy à 2002 tropper. Will you agree with my idea to buy this vehicle?

I had a 1997, loved it.
The isuzu trooper is one of the best vehicles ever built.
Just make sure it's not an oil burner. Many late model Troopers are.
They also sell an inexpensive hand pump for this.
Why is the trooper running while your doing this.
Has to be running to get the proper level.
Is this transmission reliable for heavy driving use in your opinion?
It’s called a fill plug
why this cars are so noisy,it sounds like diesel. by the way the trucks must be level
Turn the engine off!
You have to have the engine running to check the fluid level.
