Cakes versions is sung with a peaceful confident calm and a gentle smile, as in, “You know what, despite all the hardship, I’m ok. Life is not too bad. I will survive.”

Got to see them live with the Violent Flemms opening for them. Amazing show. Bass player stole the show.
If you like that bass listen to literally anything by them. Its all incredible. Nobody grooves like Cake.
