See....I've listened to this so much that when the "original" song G6 came on the radio I automatically started singing along, but I was singing this without thinking or missing a beat (and I happen to like G6 too!)
The beginning of the video is interesting by the way, showing how things have changed: these days, D&D is much more widespread and people are no longer trying to hide that they play!
Wrong. It depends on what the check is. For example, a perception check is always a d20. Very few things require anything that isn't a d20. One of those very few things that you don't roll a d20 on is damage.
Man, I remember when this FIRST came out when I was still in high school. This is what introduced me and my whole family to dnd and, not even exaggerating, changed our lives forever. Bonding over dnd is what got my little sister so close with a friend of a friend we had only just met. That friend's friend was already a Dungeon Master, still hosts dnd campaigns at his house every week, which is also my sister's house because he is now my brother-in-law! 😁😁❤ I don't play constantly like they do but I'm usually a druid because of how CRAZY versatile they are, and because since there's almost never a cleric in the group, I like to cover a lot of the healing that keeps the party alive. And, because 2:54, I be shootin' lightning through the motha-fuckin sky!
Hey, thanks for being literally my first exposure to D&D, which nearly a decade after watching I'm a huge nerd for. This is so corny and wholesome, it's worth going back to.
I was listening to the original song and just thought to myself, "Wait, G6? That sounds like D6...". I then found this and OMG. I am watching this for the first time in 2020...and honestly, It saved my whole year. XD Gosh, I love this so much.
I literally ended a session just now that the witch of the party said it would shoot a lighting to the sky and the DM said "roll a d6". Impossible not to relate to this classic!
Also side note: The song that they are basing this off of is "Like a G6". So it's only fitting to say "D6", plus it is ultimately up to the DM to what someone must roll. Either way it's a good parody song.
man, I remember when ya's first dropped this song, I couldn't run a session without us having to watch this first. I'm a forever DM, and damn if this wasn't my life every friday night for almost 30 years now.
OH THANK _GOD_ I had an idea a few days ago with “what if there was a D&D parody of like a G6, but instead of G6 it was D6” and then I forgot it, but then just now I remembered and I’m so happy this exists because I don’t know enough about the song like a G6 or Dungeons and Dragons to make this parody so thank you
Was talking with a friend of mine about dice mechanics and wanted to reference this video as a joke. Threw out my hip when I saw the "12 years ago" in the video info.
this is better then the actual song and always will be! thank you for getting me through a hard time since i was 7 years old.... im 21..... i feel old .. imma head out XD
I play ddo on Argonessen server and there is this bar in the harbor called the red lobster. They have a pvp arena in there. I cannot tell you how hard we all jammed to this and seeing everyone jump with their shields (when she says put your shields up) was amazing (the dwarves especially !) thank you so much
0:45 Is that . . . Ron Weasly? Also, how does this only have 82k views (at least half of which are probably repeats). I would imagine most gamers would have seen this at some point.
Loved this song when it came out and even now in 2024 still brings back all joy of playing D&D.
We're playing tonight.
It be 2022 and this is still one of the best D&D songs
Hard to argue that. heeh
And into 2023
still true in 2023
It be 2023 now and your comment still stands! Hell yeah!!
@@ofhorrorsandheroes Here now and it still is good. I got into D&D bcuz of my nerdy parents. Hah.
It be 2023 & we still adore this
Whenever "Like a G6" comes on the radio, in my head I'm singing this song
Still loving this in 2024!
[Pretentious comment about the rules of AD&D that fails to simply enjoy this video and recognize the artistic skills that went into creating it.]
Still the best thing on the internet... Shoutout to everyone making it happen in LOCKDOWN~! Stay safe out there.
it was made 10yrs ago not during lockdown
@@peytonbrassart1143 how dare you call out virtue signaling...
This needs a 10 years later remix
I’ve been coming back to this semi-regularly for years and I’m shocked and saddened that this is not over a million views.
Because the original has 2.5 million
This is not the original upload
@@breathstealer5486 ahhhhhh....thank you for the info

Why is this the first time I'm seeing this video? This thing should have at least a million views by now. Love it.
The beginning of the video is interesting by the way, showing how things have changed: these days, D&D is much more widespread and people are no longer trying to hide that they play!
Everyone who is saying a d20 would be rolled, it is actually up to the DM. Whatever the DM says you roll, you roll.
Wrong. It depends on what the check is. For example, a perception check is always a d20. Very few things require anything that isn't a d20. One of those very few things that you don't roll a d20 on is damage.
Rule One: the DM can change, twist, etc the rules however they see appropriate.
@@grimmxlaw depends on what edition you play 😁 still first edition here 🙂
Our DM actually uses D4's for his 'catastrophe rolls' to see how bad things turn out. Good thing we never got a 4 yet!
There playing 3.5
Oct 2024... still amazing, still introducing people to this awesome video...

I have Like a G6 in my TH-cam mix as well and that song sounds like the parody to me.

R/swoooosh
But why do they show a D20 in the video briefly?
This is a parody song? Not an original tune? Never knew. That explains a lot.
😁
April 2024 this song still Rollin as KING
wtf how is this 10 years old damn... what a great video/song... people need to spread this more... the views are pitiful.

The most fun anyone's ever had playing 4e.
I come here every once in a while
Still, on of my all time favorite parodies.
When I play D&D I'll play this out of no where and annoy everyone
Psyching us up on our way to the new movie!!
Can't lose at D&D when you have the Real Life Shadowheart in your group.
This has actually made me want to play D&D! I know what club I’m gonna join when I get back to school!!!
How'd that work out?

2023 with D&D rolling crits... DM says roll your dice , 5D6.
"your a wizard harry " "im a what" "a wizard"🤣😂
I still have never fully listened to the original song, but I come back and listen to this every few months.
I remember all nighters like this.
Gotta say them Goblin Raiders got some pretty killer dance moves... :)
Made me and my dnd friends listen to this and made us all bop! This beat is a killer, roll a d6.

HELL YES, WHOA!!! This is the perfect combination of sadassed and AWESOME at the same time! :-D

That is actually such a good parody. I'm loving it.
It's 2024 during the present "FAllout tv series" golden age, and I still present this song to my new generations of players.
2023 watching and vibing!
D20 is true but they had to fit it with the parody so it's allowed...:)
Remembering this song in 2024 and finding out it was uploaded 12 years ago...
You can tell this is a parody and not a documentary because they drink Coke instead of Mountain Dew. 😆
Truth! I once got a killer deal on Mtn Dew 12 packs... I bought 22 and we made a pallet in the closet. That lasted us for a couple months.
It's IN THE FRIDGE, DUH!
I always thought this was hella cute but now that I've actually played its gotten so much better.

This song is 1 month older than me I was born in June

I wonder what these people are doing 12 years later.
I just realized that only the DM, wizard, and ranger sang... What about the other two members of the party?
Probably not musically inclined.
Hiding in dark.
Dwarves only headbang silently.
There should a t shirt based on this song that says roll a d6.
Awesome. But you'd roll a d20.
'6' is ancient Mandarin for '20'. Which they use because it rhymes.
and now it's 2024.. and back again.
