Just finished building my Seltsam tonight. Mine seems a bit sturdier than yours does, but there are definitely some issues. A lot of the joints feel outdated, makes me wonder if Bandai are basing this on the idea of "What if we made an HG Mk-III ten years ago and then based a new kit on it?" That said, I definitely don't regret the purchase. This sort of unique asymmetrical design and evil appearance totally hit the mark for what I love.
The polycap issue is really a game changer in terms of how a kit feels. I’ve got the classic Astaroth and all his joinst feel really lose. On the other hand my barbie 6th form has some incredibly sturdy ones and it feels really good. But both of those kits’s frames are almost 100% the same. It just comes down to if you’re lucky or not
The angled thrusters are designed to allow for movement in more than just one direction. Verniers on actual spacecraft are often angled in different directions for this exact purpose.

Got mine. Not a single issue with it and i love it. My friend had similar issues with yours but all he did was put a little TLC and the kit has never had an issue since. As I always say "never judge a kit by a Mecha Gaikotsu Review"
I've said it once and I'll say it again this thing needs a Master grade I love this design so much and they would be able to use the frame for just making a normal Mark 3 Gundam
Tip: on lighter shaded pieces, trim the piece then use your fingernail to scrape the nub. This gets rid of the white things left from the nubs pretty well. It doesn’t require anything fancy at all.
At 5:30 you ask where the suit would be going. As a physics and math major I can tell you that assuming each nozzle fired at the same time, had the same thrust output, and fired for the same duration of time, according to vector addition, the net force would be applied to the sum of the three nozzles directions and thus push the MS "forward and slightly upwards" in the average of the three directions. Speaking from the perspective of dynamics, those nozzles would give the MS more directional ability to travel which may or may not be desirable. That would depend solely on the application of the MS. Since this is an Gundam, we can assume the application is combat and I don't know how feasible directional ability may be. I would think that adds complexity but can allow for quicker changes in directions, but a more well-versed engineer could prove me incorrect. EDIT: Assumptions and Limitations are important in the world of physics.

The thrusters are actually logical for 0-G/space movement, which you know...what most MS are supposed to be. In fact, most of the existing space based MS' thrusters doesn't make sense as it is designed more for atmospheric movement than 0-G/space.
Well the Mk 3 had a set of wing binders and a set of beam cannons so the backpack is designed to maximize thrust not adaptability. If you want realistic thruster placement look at Gundam Thunderbolt.
@@MechaGaikotsu haha, well to be fair, not saying that uni-directional thrusters couldn't work in space. You just need to have supplementary propulsion such as the RCS (Reaction Control Systems) thrusters all around the MS that shoots out gas to help reorient the MS' main thrusters around. And RCS systems isn't huge as well so you can have it integrated into the armor. Problem is though is that it doesn't seem that most MS have this. I blame it more of the designers themselves either aren't too well-versed with 0-G movement or that they do but simply forsake it for aesthetics. After all, 0-G thrusters look ugly (Seltzam's being an example).
@@barrybend7189 wing binders in essence could work with AMBAC principle. Even better if they have thrusters integrated in them (even the small ones such as RCS). And yeah Thunderbolt's design is the most accurate of 0-G MS design, even on other stuff such as the joint covers. Yes, that thing is helpful even in low debris area as space is filled with them everywhere. But you can then see why accurate 0-G design is not used much; it can get in the way of the aesthetics and equipment. 0-G thrusters are ugly, and because they need to be placed everywhere, it would be hard to mount equipments.

The 2 things that attached on shield binder are actually beam sabers handle, it is mean for Gundam Tertium using the Seltsam arms set, I believe the beam sabers handle that included in Gundam Tertium cannot be attached to the shield binder
for me. all of hg ibo kit. why bandai just dont made ibo line with less sticker like other hg kit. even if the price is higher must be really worth it especially white sticker is the worst sticker from bandai. the colour with sligth touch it easly fade
So basically, just get the arm option set (the best parts of the kit are in the option set). I feel like the arms don't really work as primary arms. The retracted state of the arm is just awkward. They feel better used as sub-arms like with the gusion rebake (or get 4 of the option parts + the 6-arm adapter).
The design of the thrusters is actually a lot better for manuverability. Because the 3 thrusters are at 120° angles from each other and not facing the same direction, the vectors of movement still allow for straight thrust while also allowing for omnidirectional movement. The only real downside is that the forward thrust is not as fast as the unidirectional thrusters
I wonder what a combination of this arm and the 30MM Large Cannon Arm set would look like. I just set up a notification with my LHS for the "sold separately" version of the arm and I'm thinking of putting together a villain mobile suit with that arm on one side, the 30MM arm on the other, the head and torso from the Barbataurus (I've already used the "back-end" parts of that kit for another design) and the legs from a 30MM Sub Machine exa vehicle. Give it a gorilla-like setup with stubby legs and giant arms.
The mark III's joints seem weird. Besides the fact that it has the swivel t the elbow rather than at the upper arm, it also has torso rotation at the upper torso, with a stiff belly. Usually, I find those two segments near inseparable for torso turning. Usually because the cockpit indents into the belly section, forcing it to turn.
Thanks for reviewing HG MSF-007SS Gundam Seltsam. It's too bad you have to buy the HG Seltsam Arms DLC add on set for this HG like all of the others. Hopefully if Bandai makes RGs, they'll include the weapons with the kits. I wonder if the Seltsam Arm will be something on the left arm as well to _complete_ the MSF-007SS Gundam Seltsam.
I just finished this kit and didn't have as much problems with the waist, I'm putting off gluing the thrusters in and haven't snipped the finger joints. The thing I hated the most were the eyes, but my fingers and eyes don't work the way they used to. Still it's a nice little kit and hope somewhere somehow I can lay my hands on a PG hand to replace the extendable arm hand.
I kept thinking while watching this, that it'd be cool to get two of these kits, to have two of those red/orange arms, but flip one for the left side, and slap them onto some other kit to make a unique custom kit.
so i dont know if this is a coincidence but the leg guns can slot into the extra hand like a beam saber. however, i dont have any beam effect parts that can fit. think this is why the guns come on the mk3 runner?

13:50 Here's a tip, if the polycaps are too lose, try some spare polycaps from other kits, that was how I fixed the hg strike gundam loose arms with another set of polycaps, hopefully it should be tighter

I just built this kit and there are beam sabers in the legs of the Seltsam and they fit into the holding beam saber hand but it doesn’t have any beam sabers effect parts and my Seltsam is loose as hell the knees fall off all the time and it’s just annoying anyway great video I just notice you never mentioned the sabers and other reviews aswell
I bought this model so far the only problem I have is the Devil Arm falling off when trying to make a pose other than that the body sticks so well and the head as well.. Still I love the design of Seltsam
Those calves look like they should have parts that detach and turn into funnels, it wasn't in the anime but with a design that busy there should be a purpose to the extra bulk. Dammit now I need 2 so I can make it do that.

I wouldn’t car if the joint were loose but when the hand doesn’t at least move I will just try to make it moveable
those backpack thrusters make sense to me you have all at the same power to go forward and you adjust the power for each one to go in any direction
I love that the arm is sold separately but in blue, so you can get two to match.
I still think the non-movable fingers on the big arm is a big miss.

The thruster design wouldn’t work for fast movement but if all fire it would make it be able to hover, think of it as a tripod of thrust

One thing I noticed is that we don't have a Mk-III HGUC kit yet, only the Reborn One-Hundred. Also, I've decided against buying the kit because its polycaps are so bad.

I really hope Bandai improves the molding on the kit when it's released as the proper Mk-III.
In the gundam base review of the seltsam they had no problems at all and a lot of reviews didn't have these problems

If you review the blue arm accessory please put it on a core Gundam. I wanted to do it with mine.
This is what would happen if Nightmare from the Soul Calibur series were a Gundam. Seriously, you have a large bladed weapon that's wielded by one hand, dark blue armor, and a huge monster hand!
They probably ran the injection press faster which makes all the kits poly caps looser or the abs runner or both.
I wonder if the Mk-III parts are just the resized RE 1/100 design with rearranged runner.
