As teachers it’s difficult because we have goals to accomplish and deadlines to meet. The worst are those parents who are always in defense mode when they know the are raising little savages.

I KNOW that's how ALL of the adults feels about a child I know. When I say he is the worst child I have ever met in my life I am not telling a lie. The school literally called his dad every day. The boy stole a kids lunch. He vandalized the school. He started fights. He lied and said he had to go to the bathroom but never went back to class. His list of terrible behavior goes on and on. I know when he didn't return to the school the staff felt like they won the lottery.

Why people do not want to wash their hands no longer bewilders me. I know that since the Civil War, Florence Nightingale in England and Clara Barton in the United States were teaching people about infection control. My heart goes out to the educators who love what they do and are really trying to make a difference in the future. Hats off to the good teachers that don't get paid nearly enough to deal with the madness. Parents only have to deal with their own children, teachers deal with every kind of child entering the door. I do not take them for granted. Being a teacher is a gift, a lot of parents had to find out the hard way when the pandemic came and they were forced to deal with teaching their own children. The hardest part is when they have these children Chromebooks and tablets to do classwork, you can see exactly what some of these children are going through. Parents hitting them, cursing them out etc. Even if the parent turned off the video you could still hear what's going on. I'm so glad the classes could be recorded. None of us are perfect parents. I can sympathize with teachers having to deal with all these children coming from different households and trying to help kids get through a lot of stress from home and day after day even when they are dealing with their own crisis.

  • @yankeeinparadise

You have made an AWESOME video. It is 2020 and education has become a victim chained in a cold, dark basement with rats and spiders running around while waiting for that creaky door to slowly open and ... well, torture is probably the best word to define what awaits the educator today when that door opens. Sometimes administration hands you a barber's razor and says, "Here, .. have fun." ... and sometimes the parents come in, .. and give you that eerie, sly, Tim Burton smile that reads, Lawsuit, Lawsuit, Lawsuit ... No. It's no fun anymore. My wife is an Educational Assistant at an unnamed Middle School here in Hawaii and she has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders how to read. THIS is what makes teaching rewarding. The rest of it is the Nightmare before Christmas in real life.

🤣🤣HAHA!!! The BOOGIE MAN!! Once I actually DID threaten two 2nd Graders with the boogie man!!! 🤣🤣🤣 It was around Halloween time. We were walking in line. These two boys were cuttin up, kinda low key bullying some other kids, talking back, being chaotic, wouldn't stay in line, kept yelling hello and waving like crazy to the kids in the classrooms with open doors we were walking by. They were really testing me. So I got down and whispered to them like I was telling them an important secret. I said: "the Boogie Man comes out this time of year, so you better be quiet and act right, bc the Boogie Man comes for loud kids who don't behave." Their eyes got real big like saucers and I couldn't help but smile a little. One of them said "there's not really a boogie man, though, you're just playing, right?" With a straight face, I said: "I wouldn't risk it if I were you."
And it WORKED!! They acted right for the rest of the day!! 🤣🤣 They seemed skeptical, but they clearly didn't want to take any chances. They would whisper to each other and giggle a little, but then tell eachother to shuussh🤫. They must have thought I was some kind of witch! 😂 Hey, whatever works! 😁

This is why I always say teachers should get the same tax credit parents get. To put up with that child for 8 hours a day, 180 days (give or take based on the district), a teacher has custody of that for just about the same time a parent does. Plus, if a child sleeps for 8 hours... I mean, it only takes a few good reads before the sense of it all becomes logical.

If teachers and administrators were allowed to tell the raw and ugly truth to these parents about their kids, I think things could really change in the classroom. I have no doubt it would piss off a lot of parents, and spark some serious backlash from those same angry parents. Those parents that are angry are the ones who have kids with behavior problems. We have too many parents out here in denial about their kids' behaviors, and are quick to point the finger at any and everyone else when their child is not doing well in school. After being a substitute for 11 years, I have sometimes come under fire by administrators for standing up to those rude and disrespectful kids. Just like students felt they had permission to say what they wanted to say to me, I simply leveled the playing field. They learned over the years, you disrespected me, watch out! You said something crazy to me, I said something right back. If they tried to clown me in class, I roasted them in front of all their classmates. When I submitted my resignation last year, I found out that I earned a reputation among the students I subbed for, and was crowned "the queen of roasting". The good kids loved me, the disrespectful kids hated me. I refused to tip toe around their feelings and ever changing moods, even though our training strongly suggested otherwise.

I absolutely love EJ! I find many truths in your videos and the humor. Thank you for these.
I have read many of these comments and a lot are confirming your statements. I know this is all to make us laugh (oh and it does) but, it's kind of sad. I hold all teachers and child care workers in high esteem! I always have! I believe, that is the key! I have 9 year old twin boys and they know I do not tolerate them to disrespect kind and respectful people; all people. Especially teachers! I understand that some children have challenges even when their parents have taught them how to treat others. However, what I'm hearing in this hilarious video is, the parents don't care and they pass that attitude on to their children. Its sad. Some children may have a genetic disorder and by the grace of God, there are teachers trained for that purpose.
May the light shine through your crazy day! Thank you to all types of child care professionals that keep on keeping on!!!
Thank you EJ for shining your light, love and humor!

He’s always gotten good grades though, almost perfects every time(he’s in 2nd grade now). His dads family tells him school is stupid & to just drop out & become a TH-camr. 2/4 live with their parents so my son wants to go mooch off grandma &’papa too because they let him do & have whatever he wants all the time. It took me ten years (just a few months ago) to finally convince his dad to move & that’s only because I’m paying almost all the bills,& he still complains sometimes.

@@mlmj1994 Thank you,I do too. I keep encouraging him. My dad wanted us to be perfect and I couldn't handle it. I went from being smart to really dumb because it seemed useless to me to learn. I couldn't get good grades because then he'd know I was lying to him about not knowing anything(I'd get quizzed, until I got one wrong and then get lectured for getting one wrong). I have a really bad life, and I don't want my son to grow up the same,so I take a gentler approach as long as he does his homework.
