- Welcome, today I bring you my top 10 weapons in Breath of the Wild. Please note that Amiibo weapons and bows will not be included in today's video. It's been a year since the release of Breath of the Wild. So TGM and I thought it would be nice to take a trip down memory lane and revisit ten of the top weapons in BotW. Like with any other top ten you may not agree with our list. If so, let us know yours down in the comments below.
*UPDATE * I've noticed the mistake I made about the Savage Lynel Crusher being the strongest weapon in the game. I apologize for the confusion, I should have made it more apparent I was talking about base stats. Now if I was to include buffs in this video, the Royal Guards Claymore would have come in as the strongest weapon in the game. With it's max buff it has an attack of 116. I could have also included food buffs and armor buffs which would have set the Ancient Battle Axe up as the strongest but that would have just made the video even more complicated than it already was. Anyways, sorry for the confusion on that I hope this helps clear things up. Thanks for watching!

Unless you buff via TotS, the Master Sword is pretty meh outside of battling Guardian Stalkers and fighting enemies in Hyrule Castle.

The Great Flameblade was always the weapon I never used strictly because I always used it to build campfires, melt ice, stay warm, and create updrafts to get out of sticky situations. Great weapons although I hardly used it because it was too good.

JustJulyo I always keep the elemental weapons on Link. Electric sword, flame sword, and ice sword. I always have a Korok leaf too.
i choose ice bc freeze with ice rod then 8x damage on whatever hits next, giving 800 damage (bc my rng is good and i have a 100-damage savage lynel sword, nothing more or less)
I use it all the time and just g ok to the labyrinth when I need a new one, as it's so easy to get to and responds every blood moon
And yes, it has amazing functionality
For this reas on alone, I recommend going into the labyrinth (also the barbarian head)

The Savage Lynel Crusher can be obtained with points higher than 70. The strongest one I've ever obtained by destroying a Lynel was 106. That easily makes it the strongest weapon in the game when it comes to attack power.

I like this list quite a bit!
I have an honorable mention: The Blizzard Rod. While not great in combat per se, I was garbage at sneaking through the 2nd half of the Yiga clan hideout. Not to mention the blade masters wipe you out with 1 hit, so it's hard to get close. Well with the blizzard rod, I could freeze the guards in place and gain space in battle (which is the only negative to Stasis + as it only freezes one enemy) or it allowed me to get 2-3 hits in with another weapon while the blade master wound up with a 2 handed weapon. It's the only way I got past that second room and was generally a fun way to clobber all those pesky Yiga members

I love the blizzard rod! It's a great way to go hunting for food! Swing it at an apple tree (don't hit it), freeze the apples and watch them all fall. I did this on Satori mountain where there is a lots of apple trees. 🍎 Beautiful to watch them all fall at once. Or use it on keese and watch them fall. It's got many uses, just use your imagination.
The blizzard rod is one of the best weapons I'm the game in my opinion because when you freeze a enemy you can either walk away if you don't want to combat it but it's most useful property is probably that you are able to freeze a huge group of enemies really fast and hitting an enemy when it's frozen does like four times the damage the weapons damage output of the weapon you used
I really like how you made a list critiquing the weapons based on game impact rather then pure functionality. I made a video similar to this a little while back, but based the weapons purley on in-game effectiveness. It's really cool to see a ranking video like this that blends game inpact, effectiveness, design, and other categories to form the list. Great video RMFH!

Miphas Spear is my favorite weapon... I had actually hoped that there would be a mechanic where you can repair at least the champions weapons BEFORE they break. Just take the badly damaged Champions weapons to the Smiths in the repective cities and have them repaired for a small fee, not reforged from zero for a diamond . Thats quite frustrating...
Emil S Fran a sledgehammer and go farm the rare Talus locations. I think they are the ones with the weak spot on their back. IGNs map can show you where they are. Each one is a guaranteed diamond drop.

Diamonds are super easy to obtain in Zoras Domain. You can just trade them for 10 luminous stones at the bridge worker Zora, and those you find a lot in the game.
I can't use the Great Eagle Bow because I don't know where to get a Swallow Bow so that I can repair it once it breaks. It's infuriating...but not _as_ infuriating now that I have a bunch of Savage Lynel Bows.
@@CharlesUrban I like that bow very much myself. One swallow bow is directly in the hut where you can rebuild it. There is another one you can get at the Rito Training Grounds hut. Enjoy!
The Master Sword Has The Most Durability, cause it never breaks. It just runs out of energy, But it always comes back.

Kinda sad how they sacked Mipha’s weapon, by the time I got it I was swinging around 60 damage axes from Major Tests of Strength
Yeah, Urbosa’s sword and Mipha’s spear damage output could be better....both have good durability, Urbosas Daybreaker is the best thing about that package deal, the shield is pretty nice

I mean its not bad for a spear, Savage lynels and ancient are base 30 so its only 8 points lower than the best in the game, its just that spears in general are pretty underwhelming attack wise.
@@jerec1267 but they make up for it in speed and reach. You can get a lot of hits with a charged attack before an enemy can hit you. Great for elemental spears.
Basic spears are useful for bats and stal enemies which actually have very low HP. You can hunt animals before they fully run away.
My favorite weapon - by far - is the Giant Boomerang. It looks super fancy, and just like the regular one, you can throw it and it even returns despite its size and all you know about physics. Plus, it fits perfectly to the Sheik Mask + Sheikah outfit.
The Thunderspear is my favorite weapon. It attacks so quick and stun locks everything.
it does, and its awesome, but I like the great flameblade better, not because of the video, (I already loved it before), its because its amazing, good damage, good side efect, good to do other stuff, easy to get and it respawns!, I love it!

Those are good against monster enemies...but not so much Lynels and guardian enemies. Which is why Botw is so good...
Whenever my sword broke in a monster fight, I’ll use thunder blade and yoink their weapon and switch to that weapon and start attacking.. good stuff

same bc even tho the savage lynel crusher and the royal guards claymore have a higher atk pwr its a single handed weapon therefore being able to swing it twice as fast doing 120 damage in the time it takes for the other ones to do 70 to 80 damage

@Nitya Vashisht if we're talking about what's hanging up on the wall the is probably a frost blade. You can't hang up the master sword.
There's a spot I use for farming the Great Flameblade I use called the Ancient Tree Stump. The Flameblade respawns every blood moon and it's just west of Central Hyrule Tower. Hope this helps anyone having trouble finding a Flameblade.
there's also a regular flameblade stuck into a stalnox that respawns every blood moon, on satori mountain just below the shrine there. that's my go to.
My go to is Eldin mountains .. there is great flame blade and also will farm dinrall dragon parts
Once you level up the colosseum enough, one of every elemental weapon plus a flameblade will be held by a monster
Hyrule castle has a free one in the dock shrine
Flame blade. Its just too useful. And super easy to go grab. I agree, the was a cool item when we 1st find it, kinda rare from there on once you advance. My honorable mention, if there had been 1, sledge hammer. I find myself carrying it most for mineral nodes, stasis, bustin stuff open and usually knocking something off its feet to pull a real weapon. Theres just something about a bokoblin stumblin around w/blunt force trama

I love the royal swords, they’re what I used when the master sword is recharging
You can use the GBs with Urbosa’s power to add some extra lightning to elemental powers to make extreme combos .
The Guardian weapons get the Ancient Proficiency bonus from the Ancient armor, raising a 60 damage Guardian sword to a staggering 108 damage.
But they break so easily I barely benefit from the set bonus.
I like the list but, you can get over 200 damage per attack with the ancient battle axe ++ and guardian sword ++ which would make it into my list.
Well with Ancient Battle Axe(75 damage), sneakstrike with an attack up 3 and Ancient Proficiency it's something like 808 damage.
I don't really have a list, but the rusty equipment DOES have high potential: if you can secure a rock octorok without worrying about losing the newly-refurbished goods, you can have quite a few decent shields, swords, claymores and polearms
I like the spears the most...they have so many uses. Bats, enemies on horse back, fruit picking, etc. Plus the reach is so good, I never get hit when I use a spear.
Great for hunting animals too. Hit them before they run away completely.
I like spears when I'm roaming around and switch to one handed swords for combat.
Everyone remembers getting the Edge of Duality from the early-game shrine, "Trial of Power" and being blown away by its attack stat.
That shrine is one of the few memorable ones to me. It felt like a real Zelda dungeon with multiple puzzles, treasures, and enemies.

I think the tri lizal boomerang is really good. It has some fair damage and really good durability. And If you get one from a white lizalfos, then you can get a pretty good attack boost which can even buff it up to 60 damage. Also, it's not just a good head-on weapon, but it's a frikin boomerang. And the tri lizal boomerang is not that rare.
All three of the elemental weapons are great too. Many times what I like to do with the thunder blade is to just make enemies drop their weapons and I can steal a bunch of weapons from strong enemies without needing to kill them since that would knock off durability for your other weapons. And you can find all three of the elemental weapons in the colosseum.

tbf, I like the flameblade more than the great flameblade, all because it has the same uses as its bigger counterpart, but it can make updrafts easier than great flameblades.

Blizzard rod deserves a special mention. Its huge attack radius and freezing makes it probably the best supporting weapon in the game, especially against crowds of enemies.
Also when you throw the Windcleaver it floats midair for a bit, so that could unlock some interesting strats...

Go to the Gerudo tower and fly towards the yiga clan base (in that direction)
You should see a bit of ground with 3 rocks
Put stasis on the biggest rock and hit it out of the way
There is a tomb like thing there with weapons and edge of duality is one of them

I agree with the flameblade, I always carry one with me for the utility. You forgot to mention to fire up peppers for a free updraft, the weapon is amazing, the utility doesn’t even cut the durability!
Electric is also really good during rain or hitting metal boxes and the ice rod is ton of fun for freezing multiple enemies simultaneously.
Completely agree. Tbh my writer and I should have placed all elementals under the top category xD Live and learn! BOTW 2 should have a boatload of new weapons to collect. I’m so ready lol.

Franky I think the fire weapons are equal in non-combat versatility - the one-handed sword version more so in my eyes. Also, the ice weapons will cool Link off in the desert outside of combat.
I think Daruk's weapon is always looked over in this lists. I mean, it has 60 damage, great durability, cool design and it can break those black mineral stones to get all the goodies without making them fly all over the place, something very useful, specially on cliffs.
I broke it over time only using it for mining ore. Not worth reforging.
I agree about the OP master sword and the Great flameblade being so useful, but somehow I prefer wooden mops.

I would definitely include the lizal tri boomerang because it has decent damage, is fast and is fairly easy to find

I got the edge of duality very early in the game
I only used it when I really needed to, so when it broke, I was a bit devastated
I also got a flameblade later on, but never used it much, I only used it for keeping warm and lighting stuff
when it was about to break, I had done the hylian homeowner quest, so its now sitting there, always there

I always liked the frostblade and thunder blade. If you are surrounded they are great to have, the lightning stuns them or you freeze the enemies, gives you a second to breathe and get away if need be.
Kinda surprised Boulder Breaker wasn't an honourable mention or number 10 since it has an attack power of 60 and is the best weapon for getting ores in the game
no need to use maces for ores. simply using your bombs is more than enough.
@@jsoska88 Nah, use weapons for ores. If you use bombs, the ores go flying everywhere, sometimes into lava.

Awakened Master Sword is the best for combat for 4 reasons
1: It has insane durability: The highest in the game, in fact. It can take SOOO many shots without running out of energy.
2: Insane DPS (damage per second): It actually has higher DPS than things like a savage lynel crusher because it takes half the time to swing it. In fact, I think the only DPS higher is the savage lynel sword with attack up, and MAYBE the Royal Guard Spear with attack up.
3: It regenerates: Literally the only weapon that doesn't break, but rather runs out of energy until it regenerates for a short 10 minutes, meaning you will always have it and you will never have to search for it.
4: Beams: When you throw it at full health, it shoots beams that do 20 damage, a very respectable amount. But that isn't all. When the Master Sword is awakened, which is what I am talking about, the beams don't take durability, meaning you have an unlimited supply of ranged attacks that do a decent amount of damage.
This is all why it is the best weapon in the game.

For real...the ice rod is by far the best weapon, it’s like having a literal pause button if you’re suddenly in over your head in combat.

Since I started the master mode I had to acknowledge that the Korok Leaf is extremely useful, especially early on. Why fight all these critters when you can just blow them away? Blow the bokolins into a water body and then collect the stuff afterwards.
BTW I like to combine ice weapons with fire weapons. I mean I freeze the enemy and then hit them with a flameblade. It feels like I deal more dmg, but I could be wrong...
Jon Son Nah mate, you’re right with the last part. I also do the same thing and it’s also confirmed in the loading screen on ones of the hint and tips.
But with silver bokos, the gems will sink and you can't get them.

I found a lynal sword with attack up 28, so I duped it and now I have like 20 one handed weapons that do over 80 damage. More than a base lynal crusher

Well no because dark master sword has some low durability, also it only looks good if you get the Dark Link outfit and somehow manage to mod/hack the game to spawn a dark hylian shield but that's probably impossible.
the only great thing about the dark mastersword is its look otherwise it only got a durabillity of 15 compareble to a bokoblin club ...

I really love thunder weapons. They’re useful for stunning and disarming enemies and they have the use of shock traps
How do you make traps with them?
@@burger_kinghorn swing the thunder weapon (I recommend the Great thunderblade) and when you’re in mid swing, go into your inventory and drop the weapon. Now put a metal weapon, bow or shield around the middle of the weapon and it should start conducting electricity.

Hasn't stopped me from filling my entire weapons inventory, besides the mater sword obviously, with nothing but savage lynel weapons

If you just want a spin attack, when the sword is gonna hit the ground press b immediatly, it will stop the sword from hitting the ground and use urbosas fury

No, it is awakened in either Shrines, Temples, or Hyrule Castle. Note how whenever you're there it doubles in damage and starts glowing. That's its awakened mode.
Great Frostblade with critical hit enchantment can deal ridiculous amounts of damage. First swing freezes and second hit gets doubled damage from crit and then doubled damage again from hitting a frozen opponent on top.
