The golem edition is a wonderfully styled game and I thoroughly enjoy it, personally would recommend that over the first one, although the game mechanics are exactly the same, just nice stylistic changes

I know lots of people say it already, but these videos are awesome! My wife and I buy games all the time and fight over who has to read the instruction booklet, but if we see a Watch It Played video on something, we always let out a sigh of relief. lol. Keep up the good work!

This is a fantastic game that completely replaces Splendor for me but has a similar feel. I think you can't be wrong with having both games.

Yes you may choose to ignore one of your upgrades if you so wish.

Hi - Just curious if you are going to do a Century Eastern Wonders "How to Play"? I would love to see a 3 player game with your kids for old time's sake. They must be home for the summer. :)

So a few quick questions. When using the trade up two card, can you do it in multiplies of two? For example, if you have 4 yellows can you trade them for 4 reds? I was also taught that you could trade 6 yellows for one brown with the trade up two card, which based on the official rules, doesn’t seem right.
Hey Moe, it sounds like maybe you were taught some rules wrong. When upgrading, you can upgrade exactly as many times as is shown on the card, and that's it. You'll find an example of that here: th-cam.com/video/MMw3gagk0MI/w-d-xo.html
Question: with the double upgrade card, can it be used to upgrade a yellow and green cube to a red and brown cube?
It can! You can either upgrade two cubes, or upgrade one cube twice.
Question. If you acquire a merchant card with spices on it and your spice allotment is full do you get to swap out spices or do they do just automatically go back to the bowls.

Since you're able to trade on a turn as many times as your able when playing a trade card, are you allowed to upgrade as many times as your able when playing an upgrade card as well? Or just once w/ an upgrade?
No, its effects may only be used one, when played.

The spice must flow. Esthetic game. The size of the cards is interesting. I can't help to feel it lacks combat lol That's all I've been playing right now. As Conan the Barbarian said Hear the lamentations of their women. I'm sure I could house rule it ;

Including solo AI. And old ladies playing bridge. Although they might compliment each other about their custom Ultra Pro card sleeves at the kitchen table. Behind their backs they'll tell you what they really think about Ethel's iridescent card sleeves. So there's that level too lol
What happens if the silver coins run out? Do you add 4 new ones?

You do not add new coins.
From what I understand, when the gold coins run out, you slide the silver coins down to the first position where the gold coins were.
Adding new coins when the old ones run out would defeat the purpose of there being a finite number of them.
Rodney, if you place two spices in the first two merchants to get the third and then the next player wants the new third merchant that was pushed up, do you need to play two more spices on the cards that already have spices on them? Or can you take the third merchant for free?
You'd need to add two more spices, which would make those 1st two even more attractive!

I have a question about the upgrade card which everyone starts the game with... . In a situation which I have a yellow and a green cube in my Caravan, when using the upgrade card, can I upgrade my green to brown and then yellow to red as my allowed two upgrades in an action? or it must be only one specific colour and two different colours may not be allowed?!

It is ofcourse explained in the video and much appriciating although in furthur reach points of the game, there comes a miss understanding about the rules and the upgrade card to be specific in this matter, that whether it can be used for two different colours of spice or only for one specific spice;as an example, i can only upgrade two yellows into two reds or one yellow to one green, or can it be like a green to brown and then a yellow to red for the secound upgrade. To be specific about the matter i should ask, are these two upgrades (in an action), two seperate upgrades which can happen on any different cubes or can only happen on a specific one as exampled earlier.

@@mehradmohtashami1822 Yes, the best way to think of it, is as if they are 2 totally separate upgrades. You can target any cube to improve by 1 step, for each upgrade. Hope that helps!

Hm, I think whole star anise, cardamom pods, cloves, cinnamon sticks or nutmeg nuts would make nifty tokens. They would smell nice, too. Just probably wouldn't be suitable for cooking later. ;)

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking, but I do believe each of the stand alone expansions will be set in a different time.
sorry for the broken english, and that's exactly what I wanted to know. so this game will have expansions set around other eras, I mean the base game will remain the same with trading materials and similar, right? not another stand alone game. thanks for your answers and sorry by bothering.
No bother at all. I'm not exactly sure what will be different in the expansions. I don't know if they will have some new rules or effects, or just be new combinations of the current abilities. I guess we'll have to wait and see :)
It seems the first round last forever because you can aquire the leftmost card for free. No one rests because they can always acquire a card. Are we playing correctly?
A round in the game is simply each player taking one turn. So if you all acquire a card for your turn, then that would be the end of the first round. It sounds like you're playing correctly, though a player may want to rest occasionally to get back some of the older cards they have played.
What if i have 3 upgrade card?
