Trucks are amazing if you tow or not. You get full size in cabin space plus a whole bed in the back for whatever you need to haul around if you ever need too. Also higher off the ground
Rented a Ram Rebel for a 2K mile trip last year. I was shocked at its silence and buttery suspension. So comfortable and solid feeling. Drank like a sailor on leave, but still a really impressive ride.
I’ve owned a Ram, F150, and now a Tacoma. They’re all great trucks overall but the organic driving experience of my manual Tacoma TRD Pro has been the most satisfying. I also trust Toyota over every other automaker in terms of reliability.
Hey Guys, One small side bar on the chrome. I’ve found that the chrome is tougher against getting scratched etc than body colour on the bumpers. I’ve owned trucks with both body colour paint and chrome... I was forever touching up the paint on the body colour bumper... Good luck on your choice... a lot of capable trucks out there.
He says “I get it”. The more you drive the Ram the less you want to drive anything else. Especially with the air ride. The Etorque makes shifting extremely smooth and improves fuel economy about 1-2 mpg. It is an extremely impressive vehicle.
I never in my life liked trucks or would EVER consider owning one in my life until I sat inside of this truck at the Orlando Auto show and I said the same thing: "I get it". I could own one of these without needing to tow something.

Went though the exact same thing. Hit Ford, hit Toyota, left with a Ram Limited. It's not even close, but I wasn't buying during COVID and not only was it the superior vehicle, but I got an amazing deal on it. The problem is that it was so damn nice that I caught myself out there detailing the bed after hauling a box.....plus they gave me more than I paid for it on a trade-in. It was too nice to be a truck, it was too big to be a real daily driver. So I traded it in on an 2022 MDX for the wife and I get the Stinger GT. I do miss it sometimes....except anytime I'm trying to park.

Buy it, it's the best truck now. That's coming from a life long bowtie fan. You spend most of your time inside the truck and the interior is lightyears beyond the others and the air suspension gives the best ride
From the guy who owned GMC Sierra and currently Ram. Trust me, Rams interior is 10x better than what GMC offers. No more creeking sound and cheap plastics on the center storage area. I was so happy to get rid of the GMC since they had crazy jerk/knock on transmission going from 2nd to 3rd. When I asked the dealership about it they said it is natural.
@@jett5084 I agree when it comes to usability for family stuff yeah and heavy duty work the 6.4 is a better engine but the f150 is the go to for usability what with the powerboost
You’re dead on. I own a 2020 Ram Longhorn as my first truck to tow my Trailex trailer and my Z4M Coupe to track events. The ride and capability is amazing. Add a “baller” (Borla) S-Type exhaust and it awakens the hemi without being obnoxious.
Great video boys. A few comments tho: The Powerboost has a lower towing capacity and lower payload than most trucks out there due to the extra weight. If you are buying for towing, it for sure isn't the answer. The 3.5L Ecoboost would do a lot better. You may also want to avoid the Ram airbags here in Canada. LOTS of horror stories in winter where the moisture inside the airlines freezes up and the suspension fails. Ram Sport 1500 is what you guys need!
Corrections, for interested parties: 1) On the Ford F-150, Powerboost models have an increased GVWR (7300lbs vs 7050 on 4x4 crew cabs) to compensate for the added weight of the hybrid system and batteries. So while payload is still nothing to write home about, it is indeed a) inline with non-Powerboost trucks, and b) higher than any Ram’s payload, trim for trim. 2) The sentiments surrounding Ram’s poor air suspension reliability in cold climates like Canada relate to the4th gen (through 2018) trucks. Ram redesigned the system for the 5th gens, and to everyone’s surprise complaints from the snow-belt about issues are all but non-existent.
@@upshifter5316 Thanks for the comment. 1) I meant towing capacity as opposed to GVWR. Towing capacity and payload are down indeed. 2) The system was re-designed indeed but still suffers the same problems. Most dealers and sales persons here will advice to getting the airbags. Talking with mechanics at the dealer also confirms this.

Does the cheaper RAM Rebel spec you mentioned have an air suspension option or is that only for the top one you don't want? This video raises more questions than it answers! 😃

As an owner of a 2019 Ram Longhorn with the 5.7 hemi engine at 45K miles I have already had an engine misfire on cylinder 3, both exhaust manifolds cracked and had to be replaced , and a cracked cylinder head which has left my Lonhorn stranded at the dealership for the last 4 weeks while waiting for back-ordered parts to be delivered. The glam and glitz of the interior are pointless when the truck you depend on for work is constantly having to go back to the dealership due to mechanical issues. $63,000.00 hunk of junk
Daily’d a 19’ Longhorn for 2 years now. I’ll give you the rundown. The Etorque is a gimmick. The only thing it does is provide seamless auto on/off and a super annoying initial 1/2 turn of the tires in electric mode. When pulling out into traffic, if you need to hammer down, by the time the engine kicks on you already have the skinny pedal planted bc you need to “go”, you peel out, every time. Hit the button to turn that off. You are right about how well it drives though. Get the body colored bumpers, minimizes the chrome. Do not get the ram boxes, they notoriously come out of alignment and decrease payload. The seats are a little stiff to me, I’ve owned multiple high end vehicles though, Audi Q7, Infinity QX80 etc. I got the towing spec, 3.92 gears. Its peppy, but get horrible mpg. I initially got 12. Then I put the Mopar 2” lift with 35s, total average is 13 mpg in 2 years. It. Is. THIRSTY. It tows really well, my 4K lb trailer and RZR combo is nothing to it. It tows like a beast. If it got better mpg I’d never consider selling it. Everyone says the 5.7L just needs to “break in” for better mpg, that is BS. Had a Gen2 Raptor previously, Ford had better seats, better mpg, and well, the Raptor rode like an Escalade. All in all the Ram is a great truck. Side note, TFL Truck did a towing comparison, the Ram got better mpg while towing then the new Ford Powerboost. Not surprised. Any electric assist will lack under load. Oh and my kids love the rear cooled seats. Not many vehicles even offer that under $100K USD.
I have a 13 Longhorn, and fully agree. Towing my Talon is does not even see a hill, but finds every gas station dropping from 20-22 to 10-12 with only 4K weight of a trailer. 160k so far… normal stuff plus a heater core, can’t complain.
I special ordered my 2020 Longhorn 4x4 EcoDiesel. It's my dream truck. I got it without the big screen, sunroof, etc., but I did get the air suspension, off-road group, larger fuel tank and dealer-installed OEM power running boards. I love it and it wasn't quite as expensive as the trucks with all the options. US$64K sticker price.
It's always worth a look at the payload weight when planning to tow with these crew cab luxurious trucks, as well as the towing capacity and GCWR. In the US anyway, this is on a stamp on the doorframe. The weight of the crew cab and the heavier engine counts against the GVWR, reducing your payload. This truck reviewed here might only have about 1500 pounds of payload, or less--I don't know this, I'm guessing; but on the Ram website the V6 has a 1700 pound capacity and I think this truck has the same GVWR. If you're towing a 4000 pound car on a 1500 pound trailer, then your tongue weight will between 550 and 825 pounds. Put four grown men in the truck with their gear, that's another 8-900 pounds, or more, and you'll be right at or over the truck's limit--at least legally. This is an area where Ford has an advantage with the lighter aluminum body, in my opinion.
As a Ram owner, I agree with you here, my truck (1500) has a payload of only 1400 lbs, which is kind of sad, and I load it up to the max every time I go to the beach with my family, but the truck doesn't seem to squat at all. The truck only squats noticeably on me when I put 2000lbs in the bed, which I know is more than the limit, but it still handles fine, and stops fine. I would assume the same for the other truck brands and the gcwr is just a suggestion if you plead the fifth.
@@kietlam3080 You might be able to plead the fifth but not if you're doing commercial work, which is my situation. I know what you mean, though, the trucks seem to have plenty of reserve capability, over the ratings.
the air suspension has a higher payload then the standard suspension, i have a 2014 ram 1500, that saids about 1600 payload, while the air suspension is suppose to be closer to 2000, options on the truck can reduce the payload as well, not just the engine
@@xavierlopez6545 Right, but you can't change the GVWR. You can put duallies on as well, which will also improve capacity from an engineering standpoint but not a regulatory standpoint. Anything you put on the truck that adds weight to the empty truck counts against it's GVWR.
I would seriously recommend checking any truck stickers before buying, some trucks from other companies, have huge differences in payload in the same class, without it being very straight forward about it, as far as I understand, ram 1500 has two different suspensions set up, spring coils, or air suspension, not including off road specific packages, while I've scene ford have a difference of 1000 pounds to 2000 pounds on their F150, without any off road packages included, and both with leaf spring rear ends
I drive a 2021 ram 1500 big horn and I love it. Ride so smooth and has a nice interior. And that is a big horn. Towing is awesome we have a 26 feet trailer. Tows so easily
I worked at a dodge dealership and i was a porter so I drove everything, and it took this gen Ram to make me interested in trucks and i plan on getting a Ram
Fellas, get your Ram Longhorn with body colored bumpers, like I did. The chrome grill stays, but the painted bumpers elevate the overall look of the truck. Also, have the exterior door and tailgate badging removed. The 2 hood badges and tailgate's ram logo are integrated into the body, so they can't go away.
Is this truck going to be a dual daily driver & race car trailer hauler? Otherwise, wouldn't it make sense to save money on a cheaper work truck spec, if it's only purpose is to tow?
That kind of stitching has a name by the way, it's called filigree! The name applies to all the artsy engravings in the gauge cluster as well. Its a cool western art style.
I have this truck, but with the color-keyed front bumper which cuts down on at least some of the obnoxious chrome. I didn't opt for air suspension because I know I'd want to lift it (and did). Still rides like a dream and the wife approves.
Geography and my preferences prevent me from ever considering a truck, but the ingenuity that goes into developing the features of these things is impressive. It does make you wonder whether so many American cars are that average because the big 3 spend all their cash on developing nifty new features for Rams, Broncos and Escalades. Also, this might be the first time I’ve considered a car’s interior hilarious.

Meh, I’m not a truck guy and I drove my father’s Ram. I wouldn’t get one as I felt like I was driving a building. Absolutely no fun in driving one, a far cry from my Veloster N in fun factor. It’s absolutely amazing as a tool though.
@@C172fccc well I guess there’s always that one guy. yeah I’m not a car guy, and every time I ride in the wife’s hybrid, I feel like I’m trapped in a tiny box with no visibility.
Had my Longhorn since January 2019. First Ram product. Just love it like the day I bought it. Zero, Zero issues so far.
I picked up my 2021 RAM 1500 Limited Night Edition a few months ago and I love it! I use it for work and if anything just daily driving to anywhere. Towing is easy, comfort is great, and I just couldn't ask for more in my first pick up truck! And yes, "nice truck, son" is a comment I get quite a bit. Looking to get a camper for it, some 33's AT tires, and a Carven Muffler cuz it's pretty quiet which is disappointing cuz of that sweet sweet 5.7L Hemi. Great video gents!
Trucks are amazing if you tow or not. You get full size in cabin space plus a whole bed in the back for whatever you need to haul around if you ever need too. Also higher off the ground
This duo never fails when it comes to giving me the info I need ....great job
I have never seen chrome looking so good on anything that ain't Cadillac
I never in my life liked trucks or would EVER consider owning one in my life until I sat inside of this truck at the Orlando Auto show and I said the same thing: "I get it". I could own one of these without needing to tow something.
You guys crack me up. Very informative, funny and entertaining all at the same time.
Non-truck guy here and also chose the RAM for a truck for work use. I'm in Texas and got thee Longhorn package for $40K USD back when this video was released. I like it too, but I still drive my performance cars when I don't need a truck. I'm not griping anymore like I did in my 2.7L Tacoma.
This is a nice truck, love the color.
Are you going to post the Silverado test video?
I took a quick glance at the name of the video and was like "omg TH you naughty boys!" 🤣
The review is fair. I'd lay off the insults on the demographics that actually fuel your jobs. BTW, I just bought this truck in the 2022 version which added some nice touches to it.
The Ram is much better than what they used to be but I think I’d still have the f150. I like how James always remembers vehicle stats.
They should put the TRX engine in a non-off-road truck like this.
I think the 6.4 would be a better engine to put into the 1500 as an upgraded engine, for the non TRX trims, as the TRX needs to have a special engine
10 months trouble free. With my 2021 Ram 1500 Limited Longhorn. None of that Tree Hugger. 5.7 E- Torque stop - start crap on mine. And Neg- 30 Deg MN winter, and the Air Ride is perfect.
OMG! Ya'lls describing the in's and out's of this truck had me lol'ing and rolling the whole time.
Ram has such a huge opportunity to make the Rampage concept (yes, the sliding rear doors are a must), and steal the segment.
Chrome is the best part of the pickup trucks, especially when you have the gorgeous Longhorn version.
This is my favorite series you guys do!
When you realize the Extra TH is just the same quality as the original TH
Also, Thomas, those 90's off-Green shoes are pretty sick. They also do NOT match that same shade of 90's Purple slapped on a flannel hahaha
THIS VIDEO IS AMAZING! I’m an Audi RS7 owner and buying a truck to pull my boat … Couldn’t decide between the Rebel 1500 Night edition and the Laramie Night edition, I chose the REBEL because of you guys … Thnx !
You guys should submit a color name change for that red at Stellantis '' Dry blood ' ... from your Ford ennemy ! they always have cool color name , it would be 100% approved
Thomas’s stance on trucks is spot on
This is what a review is like! These guys are so awesome!
If you want a Ram, but don't like the chrome, consider looking at the Ram 1500 Sport, Canada exclusive!
Buy it, it's the best truck now. That's coming from a life long bowtie fan. You spend most of your time inside the truck and the interior is lightyears beyond the others and the air suspension gives the best ride
Did I see that end coming..... yea. Did I still like the ending......yeah
I think the best overall truck for truck stuff would be a mid spec F150 with a few options and the powerboost in rapid red
Ram is better
@@jett5084 I agree when it comes to usability for family stuff yeah and heavy duty work the 6.4 is a better engine but the f150 is the go to for usability what with the powerboost
@@jett5084 only 1400 pounds of payload means towing plus carrying people and gear is extremely limited on the ram compared to the other brands
I'm planning a custom western themed interior for my own truck, the longhorn is one of the primary trims I'm taking inspiration from.
Corrections, for interested parties:
1) On the Ford F-150, Powerboost models have an increased GVWR (7300lbs vs 7050 on 4x4 crew cabs) to compensate for the added weight of the hybrid system and batteries.
As an owner of a 2019 Ram 2500 Longhorn, I agree with all of their comments on the interior and I still love it! The cowboy interior is amazing if you truly love America :)
Ram has not been American since 2011 it looks like a foreigners idea of what a cowboy interior is. Like someone watched a bunch of spaghetti westerns and thought yes that's exactly what cowboys are. Hello fellow A m e r I c a n s
@@bigmrfnB you do know Ram is made in Michigan
@@dor1tomcswagger69 ...but headquartered in Amsterdam. The Nissan Titan is made in Mississippi but it's still a Japanese truck. The Ram is made in Michigan but it's still a Dutch truck. Ford and GM are both HEADQUARTERED in Michigan, therein lies the difference. Ram is not American, just American-made.
@@dave3682 what bullshit lie is that I just searched ram headquarters it says it's in Michigan 🤷 you playing games with me dude
@@dor1tomcswagger69 RAM is owned by Stellantis which is headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Ford and GM don't have foreign parent companies. Dipshit.
2:20 - "Body-Color Bumper Group" is the option you need.
I have that on my Limited and it drastically alters the appearance. Takes the semi cab look out of it.
Ram nailed it with this truck. The luxury in unprecedented, and the quality is top grade. If you’re buying a new truck you’d be foolish to not buy any version of the Ram.
Trucks are a necessity in this giant state of Texas. There is never a time when I wish I didn’t have a truck.
The RAM is by far the best truck. Good job guys.
Ram has done a great job with their trucks.
Just got to the part they said it cost 90k. Wow. I bought my 2017 Chevy 3500HD High country long bed 4x4 with a Diesel Loaded to haul our horse trailer new for under 70k. The Ram is really nice but not 90k nice.
i’ve been daily driving my dads 11’ 1500 5.7 and it’s honestly an amazing car. no complaints or issues. although i don’t tow too often it def comes in handy when i need to. only thing that sucks is gas
Wait, is there no air suspension option in the Ford range? Can you run your office and race car winch without the Ford's onboard power thingo? Does the cheaper RAM Rebel spec you mentioned have an air suspension option or is that only for the top one you don't want? This video raises more questions than it answers! 😃
This truck is expensive for what it is, you can do all truck things and city things needed in other competitors for far less. This truck as spec'd is knocking $70K if not over.
@@moegittosview Yeah but not comfortably or luxuriously lol.. That 5.7 with that bulletproof ZF transmission way more reliable than the ecoboom with that ford/gm unreliable 10 speed
Yes you can get the air suspension on the rebels and on the big horn and Laramie as well.
@@derekfoxjr2499 tranny might be good but it still has that POS 5.7 in it.
I have a 2013 laramie longhorn..i love it. Does the 2021 still have the cooler "gun case" under floor mars in the back??
Another great review, guys you energy is awesome
I used to dislike James. I now like James. He is funny.
Switch to the "limited" trim and add the Night addition package if you want to ditch the chrome. It also gives you more interior color options
Good luck with the Eco, your gonna need it.
“Where I could own it and not tow something” that’s a ram for you boys 👌🏼
I worked at a dodge dealership and i was a porter so I drove everything, and it took this gen Ram to make me interested in trucks and i plan on getting a Ram
My dad has a 2019 bighorn with the sport package. I like that it doesn't have a lot of chrome and has a large screen but not the tablet sized one.
i hope you will make one with F150 too?? Looking forward to it.
I really want to be a truck guy, cause they keep making them packed with features. But, alas, I’m much more a Thomas and James.
I have a 2020 1500 sport loaded and no chrome I do love the truck it's a great truck.
I just subscribed! I can’t believe it took me this long.
What are the discounts/incentives like for your shortlist of trucks, if any?
I am glad you. Said something about the chrome
I have a 2020 Big Horn North Edition with the off road package. Wonderful truck. I’m very happy with it.
Deadly truck. What a interior.
Brother-in-Law loves his Dodge Ram Limited, basically the same interior without the gawdy cowboy accents lol.
People complain about the demise of large, American, luxury barges. However, those vehicles still exist. They just take the form of SUVs and trucks.
So far this is the one I like the most for you guys to buy
