Having a “boring life” is actually the main reason why I haven’t started my channel. I was thinking,,,well, I don’t travel on the regular, I don’t go out on the regular, I mean I just chill 😂. But thank you for this, I will change my mindset from now on😊.
Yeah we are all on the same page haha But film your boring life so then when you do travel you'll make better videos! Can look at the boring days as practise!
What is boring for you might be somebody else's dream life. Just start it bro.
I started my channel in the late 2000s/early 2010s. I’m still at 435 in subs. I love vlogs and vlogging. But, my wife is disabled and requires most of my time and energy. I’m 54 with dreams of getting into really low budget filmmaking on my dime (very long story). When I started out, I was getting between 1000 and 5000 per view (if I remember right). I can barely get 15-50 views at all now.
I wanted to vlog my life’s journey to stability and how I’m trying to get into forex trading but it’s hard when you can’t find anyone to help you find your dream (trust me, crowdfunding sucks and trying to get someone to promote is basically giving them your money and they sit on it until the job is “done” - zero results. I just want to make content people will watch and I don’t know the first place to start. I don’t even want to do it to get rich on TH-cam - a nice shiny play button would be cool.
I just don’t know what to do.
I did, however, start a new AI music channel and it’s doing okay. But it, too, requires time and energy. It just never ends.

I needed this inspiration to come up for me because I’ve been wanting to start vlogging, not so much for any random person but to share more insight into my day to day life with my long distance partner but I feel like my life is so boring that by the time when get to our daily calls I’ve completely forgotten what I’ve done throughout the day and struggle to remember what my day was like. Great advice about showing instead of telling. I’m always doing voiceover with too much detail. Then looking back I’m thinking “the audience is smart - No need to tell them so much when they’re seeing it on the screen.” Good video. Thanks.

I’d say the hardest thing is the music thing.
I can get the angles, but music? That’s just not on my tool kit haha

Evan, Leg day will become less hated the more you do it :P I'm rocking a iPhone 11 Pro Max as well (along with a cheap android phone). Loved how you gave us insight into your thought process on vlogging. My vlogging skills are super amateur, so I needed this (hahaha).
"Repetition is the mother of all learning," so I think you hit the nail on the head! Beyond vlogging, I think you are doing a great job incorporating other aspects (like instructional tips). It helps to be a good person too (hahaha)!

Hi man, the intro was really cool. I counted nine shots at the gym. I still feel so embarrassed taking the camera out, specially when people might be in the frame. I guess the majority will not care! And then you hear so much about release forms for this and that. How do you navigate those issues, the filming of people and releases?
Thanks, I don't really think about it, I just do it. But if you notice I always try to avoid people and hardly anyone in frame is recognizable! BUT if someone had a problem with it or asked me to delete the footage I would, but I'm just trying to document myself and have no interest nor want others in my frame anyways lol

How frequently and how much time of your day do you record?
you record every day then edit? or you set a specific day to record whatever is it you want to share then edit?
Depends if Im trying to make one Vlog a week I usually spend 1 day shooting and 1 day editing. If I’m doing something fun or want to capture memories I film everything. Honestly not very scheduled when I comes to this stuff hahaha
When it comes to Vlogging now my flow is a bit robotic its just second nature to me now and I don’t overthink it much anymore

I appreciate the kind words. I think from a TH-cam perspective I struggle with title and thumbnails… From a content perspective I mainly make videos for myself not others so that could be why.
Not too sure but imma keep creating and hopefully one day the channel will grow.
For example a video like this has been doing well because I provided value… But my Vlogs are more so for myself and people might enjoy them if they like Vlogs.

That will work for 30+ year olds, but what I realized for younger people you need to narrate exactly what you're doing and fast phase editing.
Yeah I agree! I’d say more so 25+ but either way I feel like a shift is slowly happening on the platform and bringing back simpler the better.
Slower paced content is slowly coming back, I’ve noticed it even in gaming videos. There’s people who are tired of the whole spectacle and just want a person to connect with.
I'm a big fan of Life with Riza and I think many are. She's definitely not face paced.

Great video! But to make those crrative shots it takes a ton of time.. I’d literally have to halved the things to do in my day, to create the time to make the creatove shots..

Thank you! Well eventually overtime you will be able to streamline the process and get creative shots more efficiently. But at the end of the day if you want the creative results you have to work for it. For some its worth it and some its not. Just depends on your style/flow. Not many shortcuts for creativity in my eyes.
