    Marvelous. Nothing like seeing a guitar like this in the hands of an uber- enthusiast. Thank you!! Also note that Trog brilliantly used a contrasting color in the background for this, so that body just RADIATES. I think Gibson should have given this the Les Paul model code as "M.I. BLUE."

    I thought normally the grounding wire ran from the stop-bar tailpiece stud through to the control cavity!
    The grounding stud was used for grounding on my 1986 LP Custom as well as a few LP Standards I've worked on.

    I decided you should have a Rickenbacker pass through your hands, I'd be curious to see your reaction to such an odd-feeling classic guitar (you'd probably hate it, they take some getting used to).

    • @julosx
      @julosx 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ric's narrow necks are the main issue with these guitars if you ask me.

    • @THEQueeferSutherland
      @THEQueeferSutherland 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@julosx I don't know why people say that so often. I'm tall with long fingers and I love the necks. My Fender AVRI 52 Tele is 42mm wide at the nut and 51mm at the 12th fret. My Ric 330 is 42mm wide at the nut and 47mm wide at the 12th fret, so yeah, they don't taper to be as fat up near the body, but they're pretty normal for what people are used to with a common guitar like a tele.
      The other thing is neck profile - the 60s definitely had some very slim necks depth wise, but they have had some pretty chunky round C baseball bat necks throughout the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. My 2007 360 had a round baseball bat C shaped neck very similar to my 52 RI tele (like 25mm thick around the first fret). I think around 2012 or so, they started slimming the necks to a soft D shape, my 2014 330 has a soft D profile that I actually far prefer to the chunky C shaped necks ric's have had for so long (it is about 23mm thick around the first fret, but the soft shape makes it feel much more substantial than 2mm difference).

    The top of the fret board inlays and nut would probably be too high of a wear point for a finish.
    I would like to see what the Trogly Edition costume Les Paul ( or any Gibson) would look like. If it should ever come to be. Thanks have a good day.

    NOT hating, but Gibson needs to stop making the Side Position Inlay dots black. The side inlays on these models need to pop out better and be brighter in color like silver, chrome, or maybe abalone.

      You can get a clear stick on pickguard. I make them out of sheets of clear lamination and use a Gibby Pickguard as the template , trace it onto the lamination, cut out and stick in place , Saved my finish and can be removed with naptha whenever want/need to do so. Ido this on my Epiphone , Schecters , Carvins, ESP and ECT. pickguargless guitars !!!
      Love all the Gibson finish asthetics in this series here on Trogly Daily, Blue & Red !!! 🤗 I agree that there could be some color choices on the fretboard inlays, even use Abalone Shell !!!
      I would have to sell somethings to obtain one of these Gibson Beauties, pricey but As Man . . . 😁😋🤘
      Peace & Play On . . . 🎸 😎 D D Harris 7-31-2019.

    Trogly Mike here. Do you think someday the guitars with richlite will be sought after like the old Les Paul's since they are pretty much not using the richlite any more. Also could you review an SG HP with the titanium and compare it to the new SG modern that replaced the hps

    They’re charging more for doing less work. ALL Gibsons are stained over the binding, but they then have to scrape the binding clean. Having them charge extra for doing the “widow” treatment of stained binding, is a scam!

    I dunno, I liked these guitars but the more I look at them I am not sure I like the blue (or whatever color it might be) back. Having everything one color might not be so cool after awhile.
    Take and spray pledge on that guitar once in awhile in between regular cleaning and you will eliminate that dust collecting.

  • @Jason-wo5rr
    @Jason-wo5rr 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have a 2015 Les Paul studio that’s in Manhattan midnight so it’s almost that blue but mines a little darker and the one thing they share in common is both are dust MAGNETS. I can’t keep this guitar from having dust. I don’t know if it’s the finish or a special type of nitro or whatever it may be but there’s something about blue guitars like this and dust. When they are clean nothing looks better I will say that.

    • @stepvanjoe3469
      @stepvanjoe3469 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can check pickup resistance using a guitar cable plugged into the guitar, then you use the other end of the cable for your readings by placing the red lead on the tip of the cable and the black lead from the meter on the side of the cable shaft about the little black ring. That black plastic ring near the tip insulates the positive connection (the cable tip) from ground. (The long side of the cable. Plug) you can switch between the pickups using the toggle switch. The middle position (in this case) or lets say on a strat the neck middle position i.e. a switch position with more than one pickup turned on will have a lower reading due to the multiple paths the signal can travel.
      I hope this helps

    I NEED YOUR HELP
    Hi, i'm looking at a Gibson Les Paul Classic from 2011, it looks to be in a very good condition and a case is included. Tabaco Burst.
    Is 940$ a good price? I'm planning to resell it and I Wonder if i can make a profit on it.
    I would be very grateful if you could help me.
    Cheers from Sweden

    • @juliusnisonen2431

      940$ is great for a Gibson but then again, If it is played a lot already the price May drop big time, but If it is in good condition, you can propably resell it for like 1200-1300$ since the classics are usually a bit under 2000$

    I hate gold hardware. I might even have had guitars with gold hardware, it was not my idea. Okay I think once I ordered an Epiphone Explorer with gold hardware. Not sure why I opted for gold. It was stolen but I don’t miss it. Explorers look cool but that’s about it. They weigh a ton, the weight distribution is weird, they are uncomfortable to play, they sound exactly like a Les Paul or SG or pretty much any two-humbucker Gibson, plus buttheads love to steal them.

    Hi there! Great video as usual. My favorite Widow might not even be a Widow, its satin black with red binding and everything red on the head stock. Gbrats has one right now. It's like the 60's Adam West Batmobile -- if it was a guitar. If you are interested in something quite rare and unusual, have a look at the satin blue Modern Double Cut at CME. It's sort of a widow though the body binding is black. I went up and tried it, but it was too cartoony for my taste and I thought I could never sell it once I tired of it.

    *Hi Trogly! You don't necessarily need a BRIGHT light to see through dark finishes like that, you can buy polarizing filters for you camera that removes the glare in certain angles (it is the same type fishermen use to see through the surfaces of water) It could be a cool addition to your videos, in my experience it is worth buying a higher quality one. You can get a cheap one for a couple bucks on ebay but those have rarely good results I would shell out $50-80 for a good one. I don't know what size lens you got on your camera but you should find one in your size. I don't know how it works in black light though but it could be really cool that too!*
