Great review video! The neck shape, volute and the ebony fretboard sold me on this model. Ebony is so smooth to play on and the neck shape actually feels asymmetric to me (I can't confirm that though, just comparing to my 50's rounded and 60's slim taper LP's). It truly is a unique LP Standard and you don't have to be a Tool/Adam Jones fan to like it - it stands on its own merits as an instrument. Wish it had the silver burst on the neck and back, and I wish it had the maple neck. But I understand the "Standard" spec's for it. I am totally fine with the pickups in it, still versatile enough that you don't have to shelve the guitar as a shredder/metal only axe.
I think it’s rly cool that they’re doing a signature AJ model. He is also one of my biggest and oldest guitar influences. Even still tho, I’ve never liked the idea of having someone else’s name on my guitar even if they are somebody I really like.
You can just change the name plate, they even give you a blank one. Also nobody else is going to care what it says on your guitar. And if they do? They're a knob head.
"TOOL MARKS!" LOL! What an appropriate name for a song composed on a modern Gibson. Dedicated to your Slash 4 LP perhaps? Based on what has happened to both the availability and market value of my Epi Brent Hinds V and my Epi Iommi SG, I may jump on the Epi AJ when it comes out. Value will instantly go up.
Nice review Hunter and great sounding riffage. Now that I think about it, maybe one of the reasons why it does not have the same neck as a 70's and does not have the same pickups as Adam Jones uses is that Gibson know that a lot of these guitars will end up as wall art or stored away to be onsold later at a profit - that will also be kept as art. They never get played, so why make it a players' guitar for someone truly trying to replicate the sound of Tool? Just make it look cool, close to the real AJ guitar, and it'll sell. I really do feel that many of these signatures is all about the look/looking like your idol, with actual performance way down the list of priorities.

Just wanted to say that I really appreciated how you showed the process of writing a TOOL style song without even being a fan of theirs. It really captured the essence! And it was very informative at the same time!
Have you ever thought about asking Sweetwater to send you two of the same guitars that are different weights just to test your theory? I was looking at LP Studios in that cool tangerine finish they have and one was 7.9 pound and one was 9.1 something like that would be cool
I was thinking hard about getting this, but for $3k there are just too many intro/budget pieces on this guitar to justify it. I'm the biggest Tool fan on the planet probably, but the pickups this guitar has just kills it for me. Also, not having a bone nut, no locking tuners, the tool marks (no pun intended) on the fingerboard, no silverburst on the back... if they had added maybe just ONE of those things into this model I would probably seriously consider it. But it's just too budgetized for a $3k guitar. The pickups really leave a lot to be desired in my honest opinion. That being said, you killed it with the demo man. For not being a tool fan you created a piece that could fit into the Tool library and be perfectly adequate. Well done! Great review too. Best video on this guitar.
I think Im gonna get this and replace the pickups with the proper ones. Wish it would have had the split diamond on the headstock. And the case is kind of a bummer but that was a solid demo.
maybe it is just the audio i am listening on, i'll have to listen with proper headphones as well, but i wish i heard the riffing guitar better in the full band mix

I’m still waiting for a historically correct norlin top carve but this LP might be one of the best I’ve seen in a long time.
Dude, what you’re playing sounds great, and very much like Adam Jones, so I’d say you figured it out ok😂. Now I have to dial in my Fractal, because I really liked how your setup sounded. I have the same guitar but haven’t spent much time with it.
17:09 what song is that I know it and it's bothering me
Canon in D Major - Johann Pachelbel
Just wanted to say that I really appreciated how you showed the process of writing a TOOL style song without even being a fan of theirs. It really captured the essence! And it was very informative at the same time!
So what do you think of tool now after hearing them??
Thanks for the review! What program have you been using for the backing track?
Another awesome review! How does it compare to the Slash standard? Are the necks similar?
Mine came in a brown Case, kinda weird.
But i share your opinion, It’s one of the coolest standards
One of the few that agree on Norlins having the ultra thin necks. Light ones are out there too.
I think Im gonna get this and replace the pickups with the proper ones. Wish it would have had the split diamond on the headstock. And the case is kind of a bummer but that was a solid demo.
what string gauge are you using in this Adam Jones?
you should do more videos like this. custom guitars and emulate their style with their signature guitars. a sub segment great job homie
Hunter. Great job with your homework assignment!
I like it…. But with what they want for it?? Should come with the right pickups and tuners the Adam uses. The price kills it for me.
I'm with you. Having a weird setup for a $3000 guitar doesn't sit right.
The Seymour Duncan pickups and the DiMarzio pots are more important than some fucking tuners.
Killer job on the tune and that guitar sounds so good! Though I like more of a “strat-ish” neck pickup it still overall sounds awesome!
Splendid work.......well done.
Ooh that smell. I love new nitro finish smell . Thats a sweet axe dude 😊
Wait a minute. The track to demo a Gibson guitar is called "Toolmarks"? Oh my friend, you are a master of sarcasm!!!
maybe it is just the audio i am listening on, i'll have to listen with proper headphones as well, but i wish i heard the riffing guitar better in the full band mix
Hell yeah dude, you Tool’d alright!
My colleague actually told me today he has a '74 LP Custom, showed me a pic, the thing is gorgeous. It's like a cherry / natural burst?
17:08 *Agushred* ?
let me say, if you winged that style, you are extremely talented kid. Im impressed as a big Tool fan be proud of your attempt youngin
