Kudos for the double build. I love the movie, saw it with my father when it first came out (I was 9), and have watched it a couple of times since then on TCM. It would be interesting to build it as a USN recon/surveillance sub with the lab converted to bunks and a head. The light ring around the pilot is pretty silly but looked great on the screen. That was a great era for Hollywood.
Thanks for the shoutout, Phil! That was actually my first set of videos on TH-cam! I didn’t finish the build because I got into the weeds with all of the modifications I was making. I want to definitely return to it someday with my current skills.
It's nice to see Drew Huffman's work getting credit where it is do. Having built well over a dozen for Drew when he first offered them for clients as well as way too many Moebius versions, They both are indeed identical. Drew's kit is actually more detailed. In fact, the painting on the box of the Proteus of the Moebius kit IS one of my Drew Huffman builds flipped.
I've created some add ons for this if you want them for the build Phil just give me shout. I've got some detailed vents for the underside and also film accurate legs to stand it on.
i feel your pain, i dont have shakes but i have severe carpal tunnel, after a few minutes my arms are on fire while brush painting, decaling.... i'm only 58 :(
It is fun to revisit this kit, and to learn the history of it and its counterpart. Thanks Phil.

Fantastic Voyage is a great film. Looking forward to part 2 of the builds
Hi Phil , in the old photo don't think it's a light fitting looks more like the wheel for a watertight door . Loving the builds .

I still don't understand how whoever made the Aztek Dummy t-shirt got the quote wrong.
