I love when people make videos like this! They’re so much fun. I absolutely cannot understand why some get offended. There are many plants, both extremely sought after trendy plants & really basic ones that I find absolutely hideous. We all have preferences & that’s a good thing. Can you imagine if every single one of us wanted exactly the same plants? Some of them are already so difficult to acquire. We’d all be even more frustrated & paying even more for them if we were all hunting the same ones.
I honestly think it comes down to insecurity in our own preferences. If someone not liking what you like upsets you…put away your keyboard & find a therapist
Seriously! Plants I don’t like videos might be my favourite. When people mock my favourites I laugh, it’s funny! Often what they say is true! It just doesn’t make me dislike them.
Life would be so dull, if we all liked the same things! 😄 It's always interesting to hear what someone doesn't like and why. It gives us a different perspective.

I actually think the manjula is really pretty, especially when they are lush, HOWEVER I definitely think they are way over-hyped and think they should have a similar price point as any other pothos🤷 such a fun video!💚

I agree with you on everything except the Pothos! I absolutely Love Pothos and want all of the different ones. I got my first manjula a while back and love her so far!! Still love your videos and if people can’t disagree respectfully then they should not comment at all!!

I totally agree about the global green pothos! The variegation is so subtle that it resembles shadows on a plain green leaf🤷🏻♀️ N’joy/pearls & jade I dislike for leaf size too. Though I do think Manjula is pretty, I’ve never had one.

They’re so ugly! They kind of look like rotting purple cabbage you’d see in your compost. Somehow, I still want one 🤦🏻♂️ I guess some things are so ugly that I want them just for the novelty 🤷🏻♂️

I agree with a good number of them, but I am one of those people who does LOVE variegated banana. I love it for the reason you hate it haha the straight lines making the blocks of variegation are so satisfying to me because it looks so neat and tidy!

I agree with all of them except the Epiprenum. And I do not see the Calathea any of them. And every shopping video they spend so much time on them, drives me nuts 🤮
My list of plant I hate: all the long leafed philodendrons and antheriums other than the panden. Hate the Florida beauty, florida ghost and all the weird shaped leaves, the fiddle leaf is the ugliest plant ever.

I'm pretty sure the last plant on your list is actually a Xanthosoma! It's one of my favourites currently, mostly because I don't own anything (namely anthuriums) that looks like it! Personally, I feel that when it's placed alongside other more plain-coloured houseplants it looks a lot better/less loud and intimidating.
The Pearls n jade, Manjula and N'joy pothos are so squicky looking. No surprise it was created by exposing pothos to gamma radiation.

You make me laugh---" that hideous sinus".... I had to rewind ,I laughed so hard & so long. Feels good to get this off my chest... I dislike Golden Pothos, there I said it. Whew. My mom had one hanging in the bathroom ,kind of over the toilet. I've always been a weird dreamer & in the middle of the night , if I got up to pee, I'd go back to bed & dream it was trying to strangle me. I would glare at it during the daylight, but was terrified of it at night. I really hated that plant.

Philodendron Lynamii is “Baker-Miller Pink” or “Prison Pink” it’s an anxiety inducing color, so it makes sense that you don’t like it

Omg my manjula took like a year to start really growing. I’m so not used to that with Pothos! I do love the watercolor look to the leaves but yeah my marble queen, cebu, and golden are so much easier and faster growers

To me, anything that requires high-maintenance is a ⚔NOPE⚔ Hahaha! 🙈 So no alocasias, anthuriums and calatheas. Also, no caladium or oxalis (due to over-wintering needs). No mesembs, I've learned my lesson 😭 The pothos njoy/manjula/global green I actually agree. I like njoy when its bushy, but they are easily overwatered and not as resilient as golden pothos/marble queen/neon.
My most hated plants:
Antherium, the whole genre. For the exact same reasons you said.
Hoya carnosa. It makes me nervous because when I think about having to clean it up (dust, pests…) I think it’s excruciating and besides I don’t really like the looks of it.
I do have an njoy and it’s the slowest and finickiest pothos I have (also have the golden, marble queen and lemon lime). Not enough light? Reverts to green (the famous ‘global green’). Too much light? White parts start to get burn. Ugh.
Caladium, the whole genre. Too fake-looking and they go dormant, I mean what’s the point.
Ceropegia woodii (and also all the ‘string of’). The pot is not full because I don’t f*cking know what to do to get healthy, rooted cuttings. Besides I lost a variegated one that costed me 22€ sick of some fungus (it came like that from the store) in just a week.
Agreed on Anthurium Regale, creepy. I started early 2019 I felt 'obligated' to get a ZZ & Peppermiodes - and I actually 'hate' them now! So, much so that I let the ZZ die & the Peppermiodes has definitely been abused. I felt sorry for it recently and started to take care of it in the hopes of giving it away. I've definitely learned to not be influenced by people any more. So funny, the 1st 3 pothos you mentioned, n'joy etc I love, but I can't stand the golden & marble queen pothos, LOL!!
I am heartbroken you don’t like N’joy! It’s my favorite pothos that I own! 😂 I totally get your vibe though. I know what you mean about plants looking “fake.” I thought the same thing about the variegated banana, I was like, wow this looks like plastic. No shade! You do you, party people. For the N’joy, the variegation is indeed patchy, but I think the patches if chartreuse with the white and green makes it so pretty to me.
The plant I hate? Spider Plant. It’s just funky grass. And they hate me… though I accidentally got one, and I decided to switch it to water culture and it’s doing way better.
Another idea; how about an underrated plants video? I personally find sansevieria receive a lot of dislike because everyone only knows the typical Sansevieria trifasciata and zeylanica. They're considered easy and boring. But there's so much! Like the Sansevieria Sayuri/Siam Silver with it's silvery leaves, Sansevieria Whale Fin and Sansevieria Star Rose. Or the Sansevieria Kirkii Coppertone that's a brownish copper tone and almost looks dead but is very much alive, which I think is kinda cool! And there's so much more! Like the Sansevieria Ehrenbergii, in all shapes and sizes!

My #1 most disliked common houseplant is the Pilea Peperomioides. I love my Manjula and Global Green pothos, but to each her own.
Love pothos so much, just i agree. My njoy is boring. It really doesn't grow and doesn't do anything exciting. Just keeping it to keep it since it's so low maintenance haha but I'm excited to get a manjula finally!

I always think that it’s interesting to see what people like and dislike, so I enjoy these videos!
A popular one that I dislike is the Alocasia amazonica (or “Polly”), for the same reasons you listed for Anthurium and the one Alocasia. The sinus, lobes, and all the points just don’t vibe with me, lol. I love Alocasia and have four currently, but that Polly just ain’t it for me.

If you give N'joys high light conditions, they will grow larger, more elongated leaves. Their variegation looks cooler/diversified too! More like a manjula pothos. I brought home a basic n'joy and noticed they were getting bigger in my east-facing window.
Girl. Imma say it. I absolutely do not like alocasia. I think they’re so grossssss. And yep, I’ve had several types of alocasia and wanted different types. I like strange and oddball things, including plants but there’s just something about alocasia that are not aesthetically pleasing to my eye! I know alocasia are hot right now but ughhh I don’t get it!
I don't get the hate. Part of the enjoyment of the plant community are the different tastes. I totally agree on the v. banana plant. I don't get the hype. I also think I like Anthurium more than you but do agree that a lot of them look alike. One I want is the Queen Anthurium. I have the Rad x Lux and the new leaves coming in gold is so beautiful. I also like the NJoy and Manjula. The leaves on both can get big, not as crazy about the P&J. I do have the Caladium Lindenii. It definitely is heartier but needs higher humidity to carry through winter. I have the Philo Brandi as well. It is really pretty.

For real. Sinus issues affect more than your breathing! I don’t like the large wide weird sinus, it gives off slightly lurid vibes for me… and I’m just not an alocasia fan at all. I agree about the strappy leaves love them don’t have any yet because you know. $$ but yep. I don’t like the Hilo beauty for the same reason you don’t like the variegated banana, it looks like a screen print and that camo thing is just not for me. If the pot is over packed I kinda like the pothos, but I agree that the leaf shape is meh. I have some but they aren’t my favorites, my marble (snow) Queen is much nicer imo. I don’t mind the caladium but I don’t keep them since I killed a few a while back.
I like my brandi but she hates me, because you know I can’t get a single leaf to just unfurl without getting stuck. I’ve tried literally everything. Sat it right in the mist from the humidifier, put it in a pebble tray, put a humidity dome over it… she just hates me.

Hahaha I don't like the variegated banana either. They look pixelated. I never liked Syngoniums until I went to Costa Rica. I saw them in the wild and I fell in love, came home & bought 2.
I also sometimes can't with the such high contrast variegation. And the large SINUS thing is UGH!!! I also noticed the pillow hahaha but it's way cuter than the actual plant 😂😂😂😂
Hahaha I like all of these. I like striking foliage. And njoy was one of the 1st plants I bought ages ago along w my Marble queen which is still my fav plant. Caladiums do best outside but can't take the winter but they strike me as outdoor plants. I have a few. Glad you decided you liked the brandi. I love mine. Shes so pretty. I love all of those diff variegations. And hey...you can like whatever you want. I hate crotons and snake plants. People are always surprised. We like what we like.
I get so much shit for this, but I don’t like the P. Pink Princess at all. It looks muddy and dirty to me.
I love most anthurium but the lack of the sinus “dip” on a Forgetii freaks me out. So strange looking.

Pfft. I've been growing plants for decades and it's only recently that we're not allowed to have opinions. Baloney. I don't like three leafed wonders. My eyes glaze over every time one of my friends proudly shows me their Gloriosum or whatsitsname that looks just like a Gloriosum and the other species that look the same to me. I don't care if that makes me a Philistine. I'm a cacti grower and I see the glazed look aimed at me, too. It is what it is. I have some foliage, after all these years, but I love the BB plants like Dracaenas and peperomia Ginny, episcias, plain hoyas. I have no shame. I don't like white variegation either, in most cases. I don't want a Monstera albo or a Thai Constellation. And you know what? That's ok. I hope you're feeling better soon.

I totally get what you mean - except for the njoy :). But plants that I really don’t like are e.g. anthurium luxurians, Begonias or the variegated Adansonii :0
I get the same vibes you get from the banana plant from the variegated Peru. I feel like the variegation detracts from the leaf texture and makes it look kinda sick. I think the unvarigated Peru is absolutely stunning and one of my favorites.
I find the manjula, global green and n joy/pearls and jade hard to grow. I have a really cute pearls n jade with some n joy it that is finally cute and full and long, but she was on the “might get rid of” list for about 6 months. And what’s the difference between N joy and glacier pothos?! They look the same and the grow like snails.

YES i agree with the anthuriums!! they all look the same! i only want 3 anthuriums and they’re all different to each other. (crystallinum, vittarifolium, and big bill) otherwise i’d essentially be getting the same plant over and over again.

I heavily dislike cyclamens! The way their flowers look stolen and turned inside out and stuck into beautiful African violet like clumps of leaves. They way they stand straight up yet hang down...creeps me out!
I get it. Most of the new variegated pothos are looking weird to me too. Some plants just turn me off. I have a question for you, have you ever gotten a plant and hated how it grew, looked, or whatever? I have a couple that I thought I would like but…..they aren’t making me as happy as I thought. I’ll go first: Hoya linearis, Hoya pink princess, any pepperoomia, alocasia, moonshine sanseveria, or even the average snake plant with the bright yellow margins are no go’s for me after they lived here.
First I don’t get why people would get so mad. Also it’s funny what plants just don’t float our boats but funnier yet is when we change our minds. When I first saw a Hoya polyneura I didn’t like it at all…. Guess what I just bought 😂

I just recently got into plants... and I love flowering plants, but I didn't realize that people went crazy over the leaves... but I agree some look so fake. And I think leaves aren't as fascinating as a flowering plant. 😀 to each there own.

I agree with silver lady and global pothos but I like the rest because I love fake looking plants and plants with prominent veins. the popular plants I really don't like(at least right now) are most of varigated cactus plants, also varigated ZZ plant, varigated Adansoni and varigated monstera peru.I love the green version of these three and I usually love varigated plants but varigated Adansoni and peru look like sick, almost yellowed plants to me and I don't like varigated ZZ because I find the green and the black version much more beautiful but not that expensive.I also don't get the hype about some rare, expensive hoyas while I adore most hoyas in general specially the common ones.
