Keep The BMW G20 Exhaust Valve Always Open | Free Mod | 2019 BMW 330i | 2020 M340i | 3 Series

  • I have been wanting to do this mod for the past year, finally I did it and documented the process. It takes a few minutes to figure out how to pull it but it is fairly easy. Make sure you put the car in sport mode and let it heat up, once you hear the valve make the sound that it has opened and the car is idling quietly, it should be ready. You can then pull the wire from the controller to keep the valve open at all times. This increases the startup sound greatly and allows for more backfires at low RPMs. You can do this on any BMW G20 Series from the 2019 330i, 2020 330i, 2020 M340i and most likely the 2021 models too once they drop. Keeping this open is the easiest, cheapest, free mod that you can do on a BMW G Series, 3-Series.

    Just did it on 19 330i, which has nice stock burbles, and it sounds so much nicer. I don’t know why the valves close when in drive, as I noticed that they open in sport mode when in park, neutral, or reverse, but close as soon as I put the car into drive.
    I would assume that it would be better for them to stay open, as the car is able to exhaust easier as it has both the left and right pipes to let the gasses out of now.
    If you’re debating on doing it, I’d say why not, you can always reconnect she harness.

    • @Emiliotattedme
      @Emiliotattedme 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Pretty sure there are no negatives. Deosnt void warranty either cuz its easily removable and manufacture deosnt care. This will only make the car sound better. The valve opens in sport mode(basically a flap to make it louder) with this it will stay fully open. From the manufacturer the valves open more in sport but close slightly at lower rpms and this just keeps it open

    And what is the difference with the 330i since they have the same engine?

    • @binarycars

      Vyper they are tuned very differently but seem to have minor physical differences. 181hp vs 255hp.

      Vyper not necessarily, the engines are both b48 but there may be differences as their product codes differ, you’d have to check for what people have been able to do safely without hurting the engine

      @londonas2 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Will Raven the car is calibrated differently don’t there’s no burbles and the valve is closed for much longer at lower RPM to reduce noise whilst driving in cities. I bet with a remap this could be fixed or just physically disconnecting the valve from the solenoid in the exhaust.

    • @willraven5350
      @willraven5350 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      londonas2 The valves in my 330e are half open now and connector is unplugged. Was like that when I bought it at BMW!!!!🤷🏼‍♂️ Going to try get valve completely open snd then unplug

    • @londonas2
      @londonas2 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Will Raven ooh lucky man, I’ve drove mine for about 3k Miles now and every time I check whether the valve is open, it’s shut unfortunately. I’ve read a lot of forums online as well and it seems people are having the same issue as well. Also, there seems to be a difference between 2019 models and 2020 models for some reason so maybe calibration changed at that point 🤷‍♂️

    • @willraven5350
      @willraven5350 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      londonas2 I have a 2020 model, I guess since I bought it nee this year in march. I went to a garage to check the connector and he told me it is already unplugged. Strange you should get a new car in OEM condition normally. Maybe they where experiencing at BMW I don’t know. Sound is still not amazing with a 45 degree open valve but I don’t know how it sounds with connector plugged in
