This thing sounds insane! Is there any footage of it on the road? I just bought a 2015 Veloster turbo and really like it so far. The modest 200 hp is great for everyday driving. Now, after seeing this and learning about the big turbo kit on your website, my imagination is running wild! I know next to nothing about modding or tuning cars, so I’m curious what else needs to be done to a stock turbo Veloster like mine, along with installing the big turbo to really support the 500+ hp and get the same aggressive sound like this car has. 500+ is no joke. Especially for such a compact car like the Veloster. Is the big turbo for newer, 2nd gen models and the Veloster N? I can totally see myself trading up to a newer model and investing in a build like this. The sound is so angry and unique. I love it! You guys are doing amazing work. I subscribed so I can learn more and invest in something like this in the future. Thanks for the content.

I have a white 2013 Veloster....not turbo sadly....and not fast....BUT i LOVE my lil stormtrooper!!
Get an Elantra 60mm throttle body, AEM stock replacement filter if you wanna stay stock or 3 inch CAI, ! inch throttle spacer, J2 engineering catback exhaust, gap plus to .030 then you will be fast.
What made you want to get the arguably "bad" veloster.
Soon I will be getting the Tork OBDII Tune to give that added 20hp boast. In 2013 the turbos had poor reliability.
@@rccarsandmusic2641i did all of these things to my NA veloster, made a big difference! Still slow but not miserably slow like before.
It's a good thing the VT has a good amount of cargo space. Because you're going to need to keep a full set of spare tires on tap 😜

That’s pretty crazy, better get that limited slip in there soon or there’s no hope of a FWD car getting all of that power to the ground. I’m sure this will surprise the shit out of any V8 out there.

Crazy video! I currently have the 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo completely stock. I would love to get the house & torque up to around 250-300. But I'm afraid of the cost lol
Cody Wood theres no cheap fast cars lol im building my engine and is a money taker but I hope wroth it. Mine is a 13, weak internals btw. One of my valves break so I take that opportunity to build it . But go for it lets makes the world change their mind about hyundai👌🏻

Just over 600 WHP now with bigger turbo and better intercooler. Still on stock trans and we should have more updates here soon.

My gf just got a 15 turbo velo, but we both dont know much about mods on a Hyundai. Especially with this small 1.6 litter im beyond impressed with this power. This is something we’ve been possibly wanting to do, but something like this whats the cost of the whole build ? 5k-10?

Reading some comments on here... I see its very time consuming tuning these ecus, wouldn't it be cheaper/less time consuming and probably safer for the motor to swap to a standalone setup? Ditch the factory ECU? Maybe the factory ECU is holding back the engine, even with it fully unlocked.
I am still working on the factory ECU, but plans for next year are to move over to a standalone option.
Is this done with the stock open deck block? or were sleeves/block guard added? My 3a92 build is very similar…
Yes, but we did suffer some cylinder tapper making this much power. For the open deck applications, we are keeping HP limited to 440 WHP.

Really impressed with what I see. Have the forte t but recently threw a rod possibly from the lap3 uncle chip😭. I am now forced to do a moderate build which is still cheaper than the o.e setup. Trying to reach 350 whp with with 845s stuffed turbo and all bolt ons. Is this attainable or will I need a bigger turbo?
First, we have a mild engine that will get you to 350 WHP, check it out on our website at damnfastdd.com (budget engine).
Next, no... sorry but the 845 turbo with full bolts on's has only ever made 309 WHP. If we had the opportunity to tune it, we might be able to get to 330 WHP, but not much more.
Big turbo... will be the only way to get to 350 WHP.
Having reached that amount of power, do you know what the limits of the transmission are? At what point did the stock trans give out?
We have yet to see an issue with the trans, and more power is coming.
Going on year 4 and around 50k miles with this build with zero issues inside of the drive train.
what would I need just to make an extra 30-50 hp. not trying to race it yet and power isn't priority yet.

300 hp NAV... yes, we can help you achieve that. Problem being, its going to cost as much as a new turbo veloster to make that happen.

How much boost can you run on a stock turbo? I swapped the bov to a hks not sure if that helps at all. Just curious to your findings. Also what power # would you stop at for stock internals?
23 to 24 psi on the stock turbo with supporting mods.
I have pushed stock internals to 360 WHP with a bigger turbo, seemed to work well.
@@TorkMotorsports oh man, I’m definitely going to have to buy a stuffed turbo then 😂. I just bought a 1st gen vt and have done pretty much all the bolt ons and swapped to a hks sqv4 bov. Found the oem bov had 4 spots on the bottom that were worn down and must have been leaking boost because the throttle is snappier and seems to hold power above 4500rpms now where before it was basically a plateau or a slight fall off. I wish you guys were local because I’d bring it to you. Found a guy here in Orlando that seems to have a pretty good rep on tuning velosters and genesis. Going to have it tuned in the am so hopefully everything goes well. Do you know the limits of the stock clutch and if it’s anything like my 10th gen civic si I’ll need one 😂 in which case what clutch would you recommend before I order a stuffed turbo?
@@TorkMotorsports ended up making 244whp and my stock clutch started slipping. Ordered up a new clutch and one of your downpipes, while all that work is getting done I’m pulling the turbo and having it stuffed so I should be pushing past the 300whp mark :) should be a fun little car now.
@@TorkMotorsports my veloster is at the shop now getting a upgraded clutch, downpipe and stuffed turbo. My question is does the car have to be retuned for the turbo? I had the tuner put the stock map back on for the time being because I was having an issue with the car making more torque than it thinks causing limp mode to turn on. I have to break in the clutch and I haven’t been able to get to the tuner for the fixed tune. So In short can I drive the car with a stock map until the clutch is broke in?

We have not had the opportunity to work all the bugs out of the tune. If and when we do, it should easily have an 11 second pass. Right now, the best we have managed is a 12.2
I see a big turbo kit on your website for hyundai and kia and just wanted to clarify. I have a 2013 hyundai veloster base model so will that kit work for my vehicle? I really don't want to waste money.
You do not have a turbo Veloster?
This will not work on a base model (non turbo) without a lot of additional work.
I have a 2012 veloster ultimate base i think its called red leather and all anyway i wann tune it more i put a protune cold air intake on it and a chip sounds good only mods think its pushing over 200 hp had it going something like 115 in 4th gear its a 6spd paddle shift

blakekrocks we currently have around $18,000 into this build. There were some discounts that were given, and a few sponsorships that we recieved for the car that helped with the costs.
There are only 3 things missing from this build. Darton sleeves, DSS axles, and a limited slip differential.
We have a bigger turbo sitting at the shop, thay we hope to be installing soon.

No, the 2013 to 2014 auto trans can only hold around 320 WHP. The 2015 to current auto trans can only hold around 350 WHP. Upgrades can be performed on both auto trans applications to hold more power, but... its not cheap.

There was not much you could do with the V6 see if the stinger motor would fit in it that would be something to see.

No point in turboing the non turbo. To much money when it's cheaper to just upgrade to the turbo model. They cheaped out on the non turbo engines which means your going to have to build up the internals A LOT. Only viable option for n/a is to do a engine swap with a turbo models engine. Even still just selling your car and upgrading to the turbo model instead is more worth it cause you get a fully loaded veloster with more sporty styling and will most likely cost you less...
I have a na veloster so I did my homework when it comes to power gains. Basically the only thing "performance" wise that's worth the money is a intake and a custom exhaust. Won't give you massive gains but it will definatly sound better.

Matthew Goolsby he has a pretty aggressive street tire, but traction is limited in the first 3 gears. 3rd geat really starts to hook hard on warm dry roads.

What can the 2016 7 speed DCT hold?
265 to 270 wheel torque, and its just the clutch that has the problem, not the transmission itself.
ya I heard you only have to upgrade your torque converter, which is not cheap! Better swap it to manual 😜u gonna love it

David Rodriguez no, and yes. Its the gamma 1.6 that gets used in just about every car in both KIA and Hyindai.

Marco Huertas the cost for a build like this for a totally stock car would easily run you at least 5-7k just for parts not including labor and tuning. You’ll need full bolt ons (2k for good parts), engine kit (1-2k), depending on the tune you would need better axles to handle the power (1k), and on top of that the cost to tune it (500-1k). This also doesn’t include any suspension or brakes you might need but like I said it all depends on how much power the stock car can handle.

grim reaper agreed, but we are not finished yet with this build. This was our first day out, open diff and stock axles. We didn't want to break anything with it being the very first day we had the car at the track.

i'm guessing 10000 rpms as to your graph , u have a steady climb in your chart with no drop-age.
Yes, power is still climbing, so we are thinking 8800 RPM, but... its going to take hours to revise the tune and adjust all RPM scalers, uhg.
OK, we will attack this next time we are on the dyno. I have to free up the time to adjust the tune, and then we will see what we can make happen.
