1960's Eveready Torch Lantern Restoration / Rebuild

- Hello and welcome folks.
Today I'm restoring this vintage Eveready torch lantern
I picked this up at a farm sale and have been waiting to restore it
As you will see there are a few pieces missing from this project.
I had to think long and hard about how I was going to fabricate the pieces.
The lens and the clamp turned out well I think in the end.
Please tell my your thoughts.
This project took extra time as it is our summer and my work shop gets up to 50 - 60 degrees c .
I would find part way through filming my camera had overheated and completely shut down.
Another very challenging project after my last one.

I was iterally smiling from ear-to-ear as I watched this majesty of repair and restoration. From the re-creation of the missing lens to the re-shaping and riveting with trimmed commercial pop-rivets, it was all so satisfying.

🤯🤯🤯 This was absolutely incredible!!! As I already said, I firmly believe I found the "My Mechanics" teacher, I have seen all MM's videos, but NONE of them achieve Austeration's level of skill and creativity, MM only owns expensive equipments, that's the reason why he is so good at his job, but I doubt he would do a fantastic job as Austeration did with the same equipment he uses here!!! Congratulations, you are the guy ❤❤❤
You are too kind my friend. I would so love to have some of the fancy tools he has. Most of these projects take me weeks and weeks to complete. You only get to see 20 min of that. I'm a big believer in trying to make something out of nothing and finding creative ways to do jobs with what I have.

You knocked that one out of the park mate. Genius solution to the lens and retaining ring. The domed lens polished up well too. Back in the ‘50’s and 60’s my dad taught me to use steel wool to scour the plastic or “Perspex” and then Brasso to polish it. That was before wet/dry sand paper was prevalent.
Your restorations are improving exponentially mate.

@@Austeration- we don’t mind long videos, and you didn’t show the top light working. Interesting that you put an LED bulb in the forward facing torch light, and an incandescent bulb in the top lamp

I subscribed because I was impressed with how meticulous and inventive you were. I did think shortening the rivets instead of just using shorter rivets was a little cheeky, though. 😏😉
Thank you very much for the Sub and for watching Kent that is appreciated. The rivets I had was the shortest rivets I could purchase. I dont think they make them as short as what I modified them to be.

Cool restoration! This Lantern is a close match to ones made by Delta in the USA. Not sure if Delta licensed them to Eveready in the UK or the other way around. I have a couple of Delta's and your video gave me some great tips to restore them! Cheers from the Pacific Northwest USA!
