This video is outdated. The style part they sell now the plastic pipe on top can not be removed. “ I just broke a 500$ part trying “ lol keep the black hose they have a special fitting that goes in the block so you can use the hose that comes with it
First of all, Thank you Francisco. Your videos are extremely helpful. My 2016 Cascadia DD15 has a leak around the hose attached to the motor. Crankcase itself is in good condition. Please advise the fix to this issue. Thank You.
Just replace the pipe hose.

Hi Francisco just wondering if you may have possible answers to what may have happened to my truck, so I apparently overfilled engine oil on my 2016 cascadia and now I have an oil leak and at times oil pressure it low and water temperature runs high but not always.
Do you know what would be the most common issue for doing what I just did?
Do you drain the entire engine oil first? Update i read more comments its says to let engine sit for 10 mins

I got a 2013 Cascadia DD15 and it started leaking oil just from about every gasket. I was also getting some blowby through the oil cap so I replaced this Crankcase beather/Oil separator and it fix my problem hopefully this help someone else

Hey frisco, the plastic pipe on my crank case filter to the valve cover broke in the middle from heat . I wanted to just dump the pipe to the ground since it doesn’t leak oil . How will this affect it . Is it better for turbo ?

Yes, it should be like that but when you remove the engine oil cap should be able to feel that the cap is being pull to the engine, if the cap is being push away from the engine you need to replace the crankcase filter.
How often should it be changed?

No, It is no necessary. Just wait 10 minutes after turning the engine off.

Every 600k miles.
They last long, this specific truck had 990k miles when I replaced it. It was the original crankcase filter.

My company has 2017 freightliners with around 230,000miles maybe 300,000 miles and a lot of oil leaking from that area. Of course nobody seems to care about it but it’s good to know the specifics of it so I can keep drilling the shop to fix the damn truck since I’m in it every night.
I have a 2011 dd15 it has a metal pipe with a sensor. I went and got a replacement from Freightliner but it has a plastic pipe or tube. They are telling me it's the only one they carry for the dd15. It will not work with the metal tube on my engine the plastic tube doesn't come off. Any help or ideas on this ?? Thanks
You remove the T25 bolt on top of the oil separator that are holding the pipe and you are going to replace the plastic pipe with the metal one.

It is call oil separator.
I just prefer to call it crankcase because everyone can understand that.

I have this problem but I have seen that this issue can be because of a blown head gasket I have this issue also pressure in my coolant reservoir but no coolant in my oil though is this a head gasket or just me overthinking that I have a head problem? Thanks
I guess you check the amount of pressure the coolant system is getting, it is possible that your engine has a bad head gasket.

No, you don't have to remove the compressor. Only the power steering pump.

It could be the air compressor, clean it and inspect it.
Francisco, I have a 2010 cascadia and I am loosing about half a gallon of oil to one gallon every week or 3000 miles.. there's no visible leak on the engine or floor agree parking for 10 hour of duty just see oil around the crank case breather filter no where else and I notice the truck almost want to cut off when it's in cold temps lower than 30 degrees this happens in only the low gears what do you think
Check to see if you have oil in your coolant. Also, check around the bell housing of the transmission. It could be coming from the rear main seal. Does your truck smoke? It could be burning the oil. Turbo issues? DPF filter issues? If it's going thru the exhaust, it should be in the DPF filter. Crawl under your truck and see if there's any oil on the undercarriage..
It could also be going into your engine harness. Unplug the injector plus and check for oil. Those are the 2 plugs on the drivers side of the engine towards the top. Two big round plugs..
No oil in coolant, no oil external on the ground after 10 hours of not driving. The turbo is not leaking or wistle, no high idle to indicate turbo going bad and no smoke out the exhaust pipe either

Hello Francisco I have a 2011 DD 15 Freightliner Canscadia in the morning I started up my truck and oil leak out from the oil filter cap I changed a seal and the cap oil pressure pretty high in the am once it warms no more leak is there a oil blow filter or something that can cause this or do I need to change this crankcase filter
Do the housing have any damages in the surface where the seal seats?
It don’t seem like it but I checked the cap and it was lose I wrench it down two turns haven’t started it yet.

Hola Francisco puse el crankcase nuevo pero liquea por el gasket nuevo k es diferente más delgado k el gasket antiguo fui al dealer y según mi vin number es el gasket correcto porque likea el liqueo es mínimo
Esta seguro que removio el gasket Viejo, en muchas ocasiones se queda pegado.
@@franciscoamayaYT Si Francisco lo renovi limpie el gasket antiguo porque fue la única manera para k dejará de liquear incluso le puse silicon rojo y liquea en resumen liquea con el gasket nuevo y gasket antiguo
La presion de aceite entra por un agujero en la pare izquierda, revise que se selle bien.
El gasket nuevo es negro y mas Delgado, revise que no este doblado
@@franciscoamayaYT lo hicimos y de paso le puse silicon para evitar otra fuga los 4 tornillos fueron apretados correctamente esperaré 24 horas antes de arrancar el motor

What exit are you off of
I have a 2015 with under 100K miles. I have a check engine light/code for low filter spin speed. I know the smaller Merc engines have that spinning oil separator. I ordered that for this DD15 and this is the filter they sent me. I don't see any sensors on it to monitor spin speed??? Is there a spinning filter inside that housing? Any help please....Thanks
This sensor goes on top of the oil separator but it doesn't comes with the new oil separator you have to reuse the one that is on the old oil separator.
Francisco Amaya thank you. I got new sensor and code self cleared for now. We have issues with DEF system on all these DD15’s. Our company efficiency has dropped 15% since we got these.
Delete that shit. I paid $7000 at the dealer to fix the entire air system because its metal, also connected to the DEF and trans

hey bro I have 2012 dd15 engine the oil and coolent are mixed I took the truck to Detroit diesel shop and smoke and oil was coming out from crankcase they told u need to overhaul the engine i said ok and then they finished I tooked the truck from them but the crankcase still smokes any help

Sometimes that I caused by water contamination in the crankcase system.
This is caused by a small crack in one of the liner that later will be a bigger problem.
When the engine is off for more the 10 hours, check the exhaust orifice of the crankcase filter. Touch it inside with you finger to see if you can see water or moisture inside it.
Hi Sir, I have 2013 cascadia with dd13, I had little bit of oil leaking from breathin valve from last couple of months and recently I had smoke coming out of my breathing valve. Mechanic over the phone told me that I might need an engine overhaul. Very little smoke comes out of oil filler cap and it pushes the cap outside, not oull it inside like you mentioned in comments.Plz advise ? Thanks.

Hey brother I changed mine twice within one and half years it is still spitting oil out of the blowby pipe and I have vaccum at the oil filler cap. But ever since I changed it I noticed that my oil pressure went up a good 7-8 psi. Is it spitting oil and losing oil just because the oil pressure went up? Any advice would be appreciated thanks for posting good videos.

@francisco amaya Hi my name is YASIR my engine is DD15 cascadia on 533000 miles I have a same problem with my crankcase I changed two times and still is leaking and I went to shop they told me we checked everything you don’t have any problems just keep on eve your oil level and you have to add some LUCAS OIL with regular oil and it will stop 🛑 just keep running and am on the road I almost drove over 1,500 miles I didn’t add any oil and I always checked my oil and it’s level MAX.. and ok right now the crankcase leaking isn’t bad as before but there’s smoke coming from the crankcase it self NO CODS NO WARNING LIGHT NO LOSING MUCH OIL. I need your help any who knows this problem
