    Have you ever taken a DNA test? What did you discover about yourself?

      Yes, I have. I found out that I have ancestors or DNA-similarities to people from Southern Italy or Greece, 24 %. So I keep telling myself whenever I am in Italy: You have Italian roots 😁😁🤣🤣🇮🇹🇮🇹.
      (The rest, 76 %, shows that I come from the former Yugoslavia, which isn’t surprising since my grandparents, parents and I were born there.)

      With myHeritage, they don’t have a huge sample population. I am full Ghanaian and I came in as 62% Nigerian, 31% Sierra Leonean, 2% Kenyan and 5% European.
      This is clearly erroneous since i have no Ghanaian but I have East African?
      However,my DNA matches were spot on showing my Aunt and first cousin.
      Ancestry DNA gave me more realistic results with 73% Ghanaian, 24% Togo and 3% European.
      I strongly urge you to take the ancestry DNA or even 23andme for more accurate ethnicity estimates.
      Cheers….

      I used Ancestry DNA. I'm African American from the US. My DNA of 98% from Africa shows I have 3% Luhya which is a Bantu tribe that is now in Kenya. My other 2% is Amazonian Native American from Brazil. The Bantu people have migrated to many parts of Africa.

    I did my DNA test with Ancestry and I loved it. Super easy and found a ton of distant family members. As a bonus, every year it updates to be more accurate after more people do their own DNA test. I also saw a saying specifically for Black Americans that said "If you know where your parents were born and their parents, then you know your history!" And I loved that!

    • @NaturallyKenya
      @NaturallyKenya  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love that saying! I see both companies must be employing the same updating techniques, so thanks for sharing! 😊

      @@NaturallyKenya They may update genetic groups or other little things like how you are related to your dna cousins; but, they have never updated ethnicities ever since I have used them over five years for sure. They gave me 7.1 percent North Africa and I know they are wrong. I have been waiting for an update to correct this mistake which to my disappointment has not yet happened.

    What are your 3 genetic groups?

    • @NaturallyKenya

      They are:
      England (West midlands)
      Creoles in Louisiana
      Southern and Northeastern USA

    • @doubleutee2100
      @doubleutee2100 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NaturallyKenya I really tried to crack that Central Asian 1% for you, but that really is an enigma. If you had any Caribbean ancestry, then I could've theorized something up (see below). However, you do have Louisiana Creole for one of your genetic groups, and My Heritage has 3 different categorizations for Creole: Native American, Black American, and European. I don't know which category your Creole genetic group falls under, but the "West Midlands" genetic group falls underneath the European category. However, in the 19th Century, there were several British invasions of Afghanistan that were primarily launched from India. If those British soldiers had any "affairs" with Afghan women, theoretically your Central Asian DNA could be a "carry over" from such encounters. Please bear in mind that the contemporary so-called royal family of England also has sprinklings of Indian DNA, and you can research that further on your own timetable. The bottom line is, England was active in Central Asia for a time, and vied with Russia for influence in the region. There is a potential Caribbean connection, but it's not British. Louisiana Creole is closely affiliated linguistically with Haitian Creole, and both had/have a French connection (and even Spanish settlements). There was also Haitian immigration to the Louisiana region in the 18th Century, and many Cajuns (Acadians) came down from Canada to merge into Louisiana as well. So, I tried to give you a little something to ponder, and hopefully you can look into it to take it further. Thanks for sharing your results, and the video came out well. Peace!

    I totally plan to do this finally. Many of my cousins have done it so I have a bit of an idea what could show up. Although DNA is not totally linear and every company is working with a different data set to "compare" against to interpret results it is still interesting to discover. Something that I saw in another YT video that might be interesting to you ... identical twins did the DNA tests with 2 or 3 different companies and actually got different results! So if you can talk your sister into doing it with another company it could be interesante!!!!

    I actually thought you were Kenyan going by the name of your youtube channel. Your Kenyan percentage is definitely false because most african slaves that went to the America's were taken from the west coast of Africa. Absolutely none from Kenya or east Africa. Maybe, that Kenyan percentage is ancient because west Africans originated from Ethiopia.

      Not true black slaves were taken from Mozambique, Madagascar and other parts of Eastern Africa. Do some research.
