Hey guys! Just wanted to say a massive thankyou for the overwhelming response to these three songs, I thought i'd put them all in an easily accessable place. Creating these made me realise exactly the type of artist I want to be. The challenge and possibilities of how much you can convey in a one shot video was something that was challenging but equally exciting for me. I'm excited to get back to the drawing board and create some new stories and characters!! The support for the last tale in particular has been fantastic and it means a lot to have this platform to share these ideas on. Also massive big up to Sam Perry Falvey for being an absolute rude boy on the camera and doing amazing work as always!
Great work with all tales. And if you're about to do new ones you can do something in style from Peaky Blinders cause you are fitting with your look. Much luv and health
@@RenMakesMusic ok my bad sorry i was to hurry to write my comment and thanks for your answer ;) continue your songs you are in my playlist spotify since 1 or 2 years ;) i'm french and i really like your artist talents i want to hear your on every radio station :3
This is exactly how I see Ren, he doesn't just make or perform music. He embodies it, he becomes it. If you ever watched any of his live performances you can see how he puts every part of his soul into his stuff. Incredible artist.
I.... see clear images when I listen to rens music. Having never really watched the videos. They're descriptive. It's like a musical. Or a play. It's so well put together. . Music tells a story. But as u said. Ren becomes the story. It's so good 😢❤😊
And the vast knowledge an experienced expertise he has in and with all different kinds of instruments guitar for when it's very hard to play and the piano is extremely hard to play as well as the several other instruments that he does play astonishing talent is right
For the fact that he doesn't give a s*** about the crazy innocent awesome tunes that he makes with his vocals box almost like a beatbox / instrument box through the mouth and not giving a crap how it sounds but it does sound pretty intriguing and definitely incredible
Ren, I'm a psychologist working in Germany with people like Screech. I've shared your work with everyone - I'm by no means an art connaisseur but your way to express yourself is absolutely unique. I can't even begin to describe how much your work means to thousands of people. It allows us to get connected to those deep parts of ourselves we tend to bury to be able to function in our daily lives. You have my eternal gratitude.
These were all recorded in Brighton. Jenny's Tale was recorded down Orange Row, Screech's Tale was on Jew Street and Violet's Tale was down Clarence Yard and Meeting House Lane. Such an iconic performance in such atmospheric settings.
Ren is resurrecting the art of the bard. I truly believe we are watching a legend in the making. Thank you Ren for putting yourself out there. Keep yourself safe.
The #RENaissance is happening!! Ren is absolutely going to be a household name just the same as Michael Jackson, Prince, KISS, or the Rolling Stones among others. And he deserves it 100% and I must say, I am here for it!
@@adophfishler It's only missing a supernatural element and comic relief, though you could argue Ren himself adds comic relief in how he plays and breaks up the tension. It isn't in iambic pentameter sure, but the person did say modern version so a change in structure is fair. It is, by definition a tragic piece of sung poetry, potentially a ballad, but I didn't look into the structure of the song enough.
@@adophfishler not only does each song follow an unxplicietly stated five act structure, the entire trilogy follows a general five act structure with jenny's tale (exposition, rising action), screech's tale (rising action, climax (possible falling action and denouement)), and violets tale (falling action, ironic denouement).
Ren, I discovered you through TikTok, a reaction video to Violet’s Tale, then came here to fully appreciate your song, Violet’s Tale. Then hearing these thee tales in sequence is just a masterpiece! Your storytelling and talented guitar playing shook my love of music to the core. You are a rare gift to humanity with your music. Thank you so much!!
I'm a year behind... but holy fuck. What an artist, all the way through. Ren really captures the masses, due to his lyrics and his amazing guitar work, and vocals. I'm happy to have discovered him and his work, because he's really the most unique artist I've ever seen. Thank you, so much, for sharing your work of art with the rest of us. We are so undeserving.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate the guitar in these songs...like, the stories, and his singing are phenomenal, but the guitaring is on a standalone level itself
@@RenMakesMusic And the video you linked to will change your life young man. I'm 59 from Surrey and an ordinary bloke. But I do know true talent when I hear it. Hi Ren is basically breaking the internet! I feel confident in a week or two you will be world famous and that world will get to experience your art and be a better place for it. Keep it together and enjoy it, you've earned it. Best wishes.
I love that he starts their birth with “two twins lying side by side” and then when they die- they’re both lying on streets side by side. So many little things like that. Also Screech’s friend being not home- and his girlfriend being “busy”. Just little details to set the scene. He really is a modern day Bard lol 🤯
Ren I am 70 years old and I 've heard a lot of music and seen a lot of artists and you are the antithesis of reality. Rarely in my life has a performance brought tears and laughter from me. Keep it up son you are a rare mix of genius and true gritty expression.
Ron, I agree with everything else you said in praise of Ren! But doesn't "antithesis" mean "opposite"? I believe part of the beauty of his art is his grasp and expression of stark reality.
@@tango4449 yes, antithesis deals in opposites and juxtapositions so I'm not sure what he meant by that but it was an extremely nice sentiment none the less!
Hi Ren. I'm a 66 year old recent widow and I've been looking for something to move my dial off numb, then here you come. I don't remember how I first ran into you online, but you've become an important person in my life. Your music moves me. You've even earned an entry in my gratitude journal. I'm grateful for you.
This is genuinely the most interesting and cool thing I HAVE EVER witnessed be done with music. No goliath production team or budget needed for a million props and effects that barely matter just a single extremely talented man performing with a guitar and a brilliant story. Truly like a modern day bard, only the stories you tell aren't that of heroes and monsters but real HUMAN stories. I love this to bits already, so please never stop with where you're going.
Now you say it the bard comparison is soo on point. There's an old medieval french song called Marienson who tales the tale of a girl which got duped into giving her wedding rings to her wanna-be lover who then copy them and run off to her husband to make him believe she was unfaithful. The husband then cries his soul out and filled with rage, comes back to kill the girl and her baby. In her dying breath, she forgives him for her death but not the death of the baby. And now you say it I realize it's the same goosebumps I felt for both songs, like there's something in tragedy and mourning that strikes that violin chord deep in each of us. Truly terrific stuff !
@Jayfeather3451 Couldn't have expressed so well my feelings while listening to these songs. This guy makes me think he could as well be the spiritual and musical son of Ian Anderson, leader of Jethro Tull. The same kind of troubadour and raconteur, if I may say so. Really, this tryptic is a masterpiece and I'm longing for more. I hope one day I'll be able to buy this on an LP !
If you're not one of the biggest stars in music in the next year/18 months then there is something wrong with the world. This mans talent knows no bounds.
@Justin Bowen Lmao I love this fantasy land conservatives exist in where lgbt ppl now rule the country and are locking up anyone who disagrees. We have no power bruh. Disney/other corps pandering with pride flags and tokenized gay representation is not real power and nobody has ever been locked up for misgendering (lmao 🤣, the idea is absurdly funny tho). Cons have state legislatures, congress, and decades to come of Supreme Court control. If anything trans ppl will get locked up for existing before any cis person who misgenders XD
Watching this again in October 2023...and Ren's new cd SickBoi has just been named #1 on the UK charts! It's unheard of; an independent artist, no label pushing him, and he's spent the balance of the year in hospital in Canada receiving treatment for his autoimmune disease. No appearances, no tours, just word-of-mouth on social media for this incredibly talented, kind and caring young man. You rock, Ren!
ART. Full stop. THIS IS IT!! There are so many parallels and layers to this presentation of his story; From the setting, facial expressions, tone changes, lyrics, to the music itself. It's complete. It must have taken him a long time to put this all together. Modern-day music should take notes from this artist. They take all those elements for granted. A well-needed muse in today's world.
The twist in this is pure genius. And the repeating cycle of tragedy; Violet's father was an abuser, and her mother stayed quiet, even though she knew, then Violet silently being abused by a violent man, and finally you see that Jenny was still and quiet like her mother, and Screech was violent and angry like his father. What a heartbreaking tale. Because of you people are talking about this subject. What an amazing way to finally give them a voice. Thank you Ren for finding such creative and beautiful ways for people to open so many conversations that are long overdue.
@@jhainje83 this is the first one that really makes feel for them and the first one that sounds real, like you knew those people hes singing. This IS amazing.
I could just be reading into it but in Violets Tale when Ren uses the stairwell for acoustics, he drops the line "She never had a chance, the devil comes to dance" and then (Stevie? Forgot the name tbh) knocks on the door to violets room, naturally shifting your perspective Stevie and identifying him as a devil. In Jenny's tale screech is described as swinging with the devil in his chest, an animal possessed. Another line foreshadowing this cycle?
REN - JENNY'S TALE It was a quiet, dark night on an empty street Somewhere in London City Jenny walked alone, she was dragging her feet She was heading back home to sleep Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor Because she'd walked it about a thousand times before She wanted to escape, can you blame? Well on the very same night, in a different place There walked a hooded young youth by the name of James He was 14 years old and out of his brain He'd been smoking ganja with the boys James, he grew up to be a kid of the street His mates called him Screech, he was quick on his feet He was a liar, a thief at fourteen years old The devil had set his sights on his soul As Jenny walked home all alone, she felt scared Usually she was alright But it was like there was something in the air A divine intervention telling her to beware? Or maybe intuition bugging her and making her so scared? Sirens sound in the distance to the beat of Jenny's feet A symphony of the night that echoes crime on London's streets Jenny turns a corner, their eyes, they meet Our poor girl Jenny and a boy named Screech "Give me all your money bitch, give it to me If you co-operate, then you'll soon be free I want your purse, your phone Don't fucking look at me I mean it bitch, are you listening to me?" Jenny freezes, statue like, a lady shaped stalagtite Fear like liquid nitrogen in the dark night She tried to find strength to move But stayed as still as a statue in high heeled shoes "What the hell you playing at? You playing games with me? I swear to fucking god, I'll slice the rosy off your cheeks You think I don't mean it girl? You don't know me The last thing you see will be a boy called-" Screech reached for the sheath of the blade with the teeth That could bite through steel and slice concrete And he swung possessed, with the devil in his chest And the statue she was turned to, butter in a breath It was a quiet dark night on an empty street Somewhere in London city Jenny laid still on the cold concrete She's found somewhere to sleep Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor Because she'd walked it about a thousand times before I guess that she escaped, it's such a shame REN - SCREECH'S TALE Our story it starts, Right at the end of the life of poor Jenny, Clocked out like big ben Dear Screech, Dear boy, Where did he go? He melted into the black night just like snow Patrick man, let me in please open the door I think I fucked up patrick, really fucked up... man I’m not sure I got crazy left a lady lying still on the floor I think I killed her patrick come on man i can’t knock no more... But Screech kept on knocking ‘till his knuckles became sore, but there’s no sign of Patrick down at number 54, No refuge for our villain for the bitter hands of fate Have something far more sinister in mind, that does await “Hey babe… are you in? Nah nothing really I’m just a bit tired, listen… can I swing around yours a few moments, I just really miss you babe WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE BUSY?! YOU FUCKING BITCH! FOR FUCK SAKES!” Siren sounds approaching like a banshee in the night The shrill sound of justice cutting like the sharpest knife, but screech was never one to run, not one to miss a fight, one hand upon his blade he turned to face the blue lights. "COME ON THEN YOU FUCKING CUNTS! LETS FUCKING HAVE YOU THEN! I AM SCREECH! I’M THE BOSS! I’M THE ENDER OF MEN! YOU THINK THAT UNIFORM YOUR WEARING MEANS THAT OWN THESE STREETS?! WELL THESE ARE MY FUCKING STREETS!! AND THEY FUYCKING CALL ME SCREECH!" Richard was an officer who stood at six foot three working london on the nightshift, what he didn’t think he’d see was a boy running at him like an animal possessed with no time to hesitate, he fired four bullets at screech’s chest Our story it ends right at the start. Young screech and poor Jenny lying one street apart. An officer shaken by the boy that he claimed. Two bodies lay lifeless and its such a shame It’s such a shame REN - VIOLET'S TALE London City, far from pretty Two, zero, zero, five A lady down in Paddington Is fighting just to stay alive Rhythmic beeps and blood stained sheets Our lady weeps; she’s tired and frail To set the scene We must rewind the hands of time for violets tale Violet was a silent girl Grew up with violent starts Her mother was a drinker And her father was a bastard Every night he’d tuck her tight But never left the room Ill spare you of the things he did Im sure her mother knew Violet was a silent girl She moved out at sixteen A semi-detached council flat Paid for by a welfare-scheme Packing shelves at Tesco’s Stacking jars like pickled bricks She met a boy named Stevie And he was a little prick Violet was a silent girl And violet she fell fast See Stevie was a wrongun But he sure knew how to charm her Every night he’d tuck her tight But never left the room History repeats itself Hed paint her black and blue and ah… She never stood a chance The devil comes to dance “Violet, why you always so silent?” knock knock knock On her bedroom door and he’s irate He’s been drinking and smoking he’s up late And he stands by her bedside, she shakes But her eyes stay shut “You fucking slut! What I find most interesting is that Jenny and Screech represent Violet’s life. Jenny is her, which is why she freezes up and goes silent, but Screech is Stevie, violent and dangerous with no sense of empathy.
when we are looking closely they are violents but have empathy. I'm explaining myself, for Violet, Stevie soon after he beat her, he realised he might killed her, he called med to check if he is a murder or just a bastard. for Jane and screech, screech after kill Jane immediatly realised he might killed someone and looked for help (not for her because he knew she was dead but he was panicked) and if he threw himself away to kill the cops is because of integrity, if he did nothing, all of his hard work to be called Screech would have been lost and he just would be in prison without honor, but by trying in a last breath to kill the cop, he is showing the part with no mercy and hiding the panic he have to kill someone, foundamentaly, Screech isn't bad, the streets made him like that and if he didn't acted like that he would have been the one that another screech would've killed
very few pieces of media have made me cry but god damn this song gets me every time i dont understand how someone can be this damn talented. beautiful work ren
Can we all just admire the fact that this man isn't lip syncing or using a backing track. I'm sure it takes forever re-recording after every mistake. These songs can be challenging to play (speaking from experience) and he's giving us something close to a live performance in beautiful videos that lack any of the filler that a lot of modern videos have.
I think he hides the cuts, masterfully that is like in violet's tale there a bit where the camera is off him looking up the stairs and I can see that being a sneaky place for a cut
yeah you can tell its not lip synced as well cos there’s points where words are slightly different, i notice it mostly in screech’s tale like on the phone he says “for a few moments” but on spotify its “for a few minutes”
what i love about Ren’s music is that he doesn’t write it as verses then chorus, he tells a story with fantastic lyrics and amazing guitar. he’s the one i’ve been waiting for
I watched his other popular videos, I was watching this one, enjoying it and following the story but also looking at a couple other things at the same time. Until the last 10 second when he said the babies were Jenny and Screech. As I heard that my eyes unfocused, my ears started ringing. and all I could thing for a good 30 seconds was WHAT THE FUCK. Even now my body is in a cold sweat thinking about the story he just laid out. Very few people can create such a narrative and deliver it with such an effect..
9:04 “To set the scene, we must rewind the hands of time for Violet’s Tale..” I am in love with this beautiful ballad, you performed this piece perfectly in my eyes. That being said, I will now be hyper fixated on your music for next little while..or forever..I have not heard anything like you before.
This story is so beautifully yet perversely built. Three stories, seemingly unrelated, an ending that just makes your spine chill. This is a 12 minute novel that made me feel so much.
This story though dark is incredible. Even the subtle way you mentioned Jenny's intuition of knowing someone's there and it happens to her twin at the end. Twins intuition crazy
I found Violets tale, which led me down a rabbit hole of Jenny and Screech's tales, and I gotta say, i'm in love. i've listened to them nonstop since i've found them and Ren is actually just unbelievably talented. I mean, not only with the singing and acting, but the guitar- it's just wild.
Dudes a real life bard. Rhyme structure, cadence changes, musical cues to support character change, and actual acting. Stacked with sick guitar and a unique voice. I’m a fan, hope I get to follow for years man.
I work for one of the emergency services in London. If a song/video could ever convey what it feels like to ever have a bad day at work, the tale of Jenny and Screech is it. Brought me to tears with the memories it invoked. Musician, artist, story teller...whatever title you prefer, you have a remarkable talent Ren. Keep writing, keep telling the stories and good luck with your battles.
First of all, I'm so sorry for the things you must have gone through Second of all, thank you for being brave enough to work in that field. No one wants to go through those things, but we need people to do it. Third of all, I agree with this comment 😂
Thanks for being out there, I really respect and appreciate what you lot have to go through. I "escaped" from London many years ago but I still visit frequently. I wanted to do the old Cadet Course at Hendon but I couldn't square it with my conscience.
The most incredible story teller…..someone here called him a bard….yes…a 21st century Shakespeare…..overtones of Tommy Shelby in his delivery, but no actor projects so much as this…..and his delivery being astounding, let’s not overlook his guitar work…….everything…..unbelievable……
Ren is honestly the best at lyrics and story telling and no one can tell me different. And then the videos and his voice not to mention his guitar skills. Absolutely love this
❤could not have said it any better! I literally get caught up in the vibes and literally can’t even explain the electrical connection I feel listening to this!❤
That transition back into the guitar riff and vocals when he said “ that’s the sound of his fists when they land like a crashed pilot “ and goes back into the verse was seamless and smooth. This dude is unreal
I am genuinely blown away by every line of every song I hear by ren. I've seen heavy metal reactors fully open up about their mental health to your songs, psychologists questioning their practices, established musicians moved to tears. You are breaking down barriers and creating a new level that no one saw coming. I'm grateful for you, and everything you have created and will create. Thanks Ren
After watching 'Hi Ren' dozens of times in a few days, and then watching reactions to that song, I ventured out for more Ren. Holy shit, what a boundless talent. These songs were heartbreaking and crushing in the most beautiful way. I'm so fucking blown away by the depth and creativity of this guy. Kudos, Ren.
Man, you have completely blown me away as a musician, writer, actor, and a showmen. You can make someone emotionally attached to characters who aren't even real. It's pure poetry. I love you man, I hope you are doing well, the world needs artists like you.
That’s my first instinct and I have witnessed so many Jenny and screeches. It’s real and raw and we the people love it and all people in services such as social workers, police, nhs that are there to serve should just watch Rens art and mastery to come up with new creative solutions to help safeguard and support. No one can judge…only God xx
i truly feel like this is a hallmark in terms of modern music. your composure of the instruments for this song, how you make one guitar sounds like an entire symphony and the unrivalled lyricism really makes you a foundation for so much music to come. please continue making incredible music Ren:)
For a generation where attention span is limited, this had me hooked the whole vid through. Dig the intense storytelling mixed with amazing guitar talent. Well done Ren, well done.
Brilliant Ren. I only saw you first with Band, and soon realised what a great talent you are - fantastic on any guitar, and superb range of vocals, and brill music writing.
It’s my first time listening to it all together and I couldn’t hold back the tears I damn near exploded crying so hard lol this whole three song video is so intense!!
The way the 'cycle' motif and repeating patterns are worked into this trilogy, all to support the idea that abuse and violence is a cycle... It's unparalleled genius. First there is the epanaleptic structures, where the starts and end are _mirrored_ : Jenny's part: "It was a quiet dark night in the empty street..." + "Can you blame"/"Such a shame" (...) Screech's part: "Our story it _starts_ right at the _end_ " + "Our story it _ends_ right at the _start_ " Violet's part: "London city far from pretty..." + the rewinding sound effect at the guitar The whole: starting with Jenny and Screech's death and ending with their birth (...) Then there are tons of reference to the lexical field of cycles and repeating patterns: Jenny: "She walked it about a 1000 times before" / she's compared to a clock / "a symphony of the night that _echoes_ crime on London streets" Screech: "Can I _swing_ ..." he says to his girlfriend Violet: "Every night he tucked her tight..." / "Packing shelves at Tesco, stacking jars like pickled bricks" so repetitive work, and repetition builds a prison / "History repeats itself" I'm sure I'm missing a ton. And I'm not knowledgeable enough in music, rapping, and directing structures but I'm sure these patterns are present there as well. I pray all the Jenny's get to escape these cycles, all the James's manage to stop knocking, and Violets manage to not stay silent... *_Ren, your genius is staggering_* .
Man, i just saw this for the 1st time. I was blown away. I am now watching again after sending to everyone! You are massively talented in so many areas! Genius combination of your talents. You remind me of a modern welsh bard! 2nd tine watching i thought you woukd make a great movie! I'm almost 50 now and always loved music. You made me cry, think and just feel. Amazing! I hope you succeed in everything you create! ❤
I am seeing this video again for at least the fiftieth time and am still astounded by it. Every detail has been attended to with perfection. What a story, Ren. To have imagined it, scripted it, and to have emotionally embodied each character so flawlessly is high art. Equally, your singing, your guitar playing, your dramatic settings with interesting movement, lighting, acoustics and Surprises are all Masterful strokes. And to have Samuel filming your performances gives us another genius to appreciate! We are so lucky to have found you both. We wish you great success in all of your creative endeavors. The Tales are now our modern Classics. I am so grateful 💜
Once...maybe twice...Every few generations we get blessed with a great artist. What fortune we have to be in one of those generations. Epic Ren! Epic! Thank you.
There are many great artists that offer substance with their music. It just may not be the ones who fit into standardized, consumer-driven, pop culture. If you look for it though, you can find it.
I can literally feel this music. I haven’t had music make me cry like this in a long time. Your voice, your talent, your story telling ability, the way you are able to use your guitar to communicate like it’s an extension of you- all absolutely amazing. Such raw, pure, original talent. You are incredible.
This should have at least a few million views. This is probably the closest video on the internet that is just art in its purest form. Thank you Ren for blessing us with your talent and having the guts to put it out there for the world to see.

Sir, you absolutely shook up the whole world beneath us. I'm 50 yrs old and I've heard a wide variety of music over my years..BUT NOTHING has ever come close to what you created. I'm absolutely GRATEFUL to be alive to witness the impact you have made on the world. I'm from Oklahoma city, Oklahoma U.S.A. The world is yours
Well said I'm from Norman myself and I can't tell enough people about Ren! One of the few artists that I have followed from day 1 (well day 1 2.0) and let me tell you man me and my lady absolutely love Ren.
I found your music in the last few months and might I just say you are HAUNTING in the best ways. I have your songs on repeat all day this week and this trilogy just got added in. I literally yelled when you said "twins".
This is almost better than “Hi Ren”… and “Hi Ren” left me speechless and in chills! After this song I was again in chills and couldn’t listen to anything else for quite some time.. touched deep. You truly are a modern day bard! And although you still haven’t overcome your health issues, everything is already coming together in your art! You wouldn’t be able to touch people like you are doing if you weren’t “twisted and tested” like you said in “Hi Ren”. Life happens for us, not to us! And you are a shining lighthouse for so many after suffering yourself for so long… -A fan from Finland who’s heart and soul you have deeply touched Ps. NEVER give up!!
Sung poetry I've never thought I would hear that music genre outside of Eastern Europe. Ren has it all the dramatic skills, guitar, very powerful lyrics... Every single song is its own universe in a capsule. Theatre experience within one piece.
I am 28yo I did not cry since I was kid, and I just cried so hard and I dont know why...man your song just touched something in me I never felt before. Thank you
I can't think of another example of excellent guitar playing + vocals + lyrics + acting, all at the service of powerful storytelling. Ren is a genre. So happy i met him
The range of rens voice in this is next to nothing - the knocking on the 'door', screech panicking so bad you can almost hear his voice tremble. Even the way he paces while on the phone and gets so aggressive because screech knows this is the end. A masterpiece
Utterly wonderful. So exciting to find such an original and passionate artist. Great storytelling. Love this as much as Hi Ren (and I love that a lot). Hope you continue to get the recognition you so richly deserve!
Grandad here. I don't think I've ever been impacted like this in my life before. The fact that you just did it live, one take, it was awesome and inspiring and awe inspiring, for sure... Like a true poet and writer and musician and author. I couldn't, maybe shouldn't ask, but you know I just want more. Ren, this meant a lot to me, it cut me to the bone. If you ever get the chance there Ren, come visit me, I'm home.
God bless you sir. I'm sure you'll be together soon, but make no mistake - your grandson is one of history's great and blessed messengers. I know you must be proud, I hope all's well
I see a lot of people talking about this guy's music and how he did the videos all in one cut but can we appreciate the camera man's work here? That was great movement.
absolutely...the position and timing of movement between Ren and camera person is key and very very deliberate, beautifully worked out and perfectly executed...stunning video work !
I love your trilogy, your music is real and amazing, I have been a massive fan of your music since April where I was hooked with Hi Ren and I have loved every single piece of your art I have found since. Your truths that you sing/spit about in your music is real. RENagades for life.
You are without doubt the most talented musical story teller I have found in my 52 year life. I'm truly astounded at the depth of your talent. Here's to many more musical journeys with you Ren. Amazing!
I had to learn Jenny's Tale on guitar but Screech and Violet's tales are definitely beyond my capabilities. Bravo, Ren! Incredible to play like that, act and walk around the way you do 👏👏👏
MY LORD, this is hands down one of the best songs and even music videos ive ever seen. I cant wait to see where you will go with this Ren, im so glad I discovered this on my youtube home page.
You are a walking Broadway Musical. Artist is a term that is overused, in my opinion, but you, my friend, are a true artist. Even your parts that you act out scenes are spot on. Talent just radiates from you, mate, and I'm so happy to experience your art. 😊
Absolutely my thought also. I wouldn't be surprised if he was writing or will write a Broadway Show. He's got the material to do it now, in my humble nonartistic, but very appreciative of the arts, opinion!
Well it's 1:30 at night and I'm lying in my bed, have to get up in 4hrs but watching Ren's music on TH-cam.. and about a hundred reaction videos so that I don't feel like having company listening to him. Beautiful!
I have no words...i love when a song has lyrics with meaning and form a story. I found you out of luck from a random video on social media and i was immediately hooked by your voice and lyrics. Of course i will agree with all those who call you a modern bard. I've been listening to your songs litteraly every day, at my home, car and workplace and i have to say im never bored of em. Keep up the amazing work mate, lots of support and love from Greece !
I never noticed how good the live performances of these songs were, since i mainly listen to your music on spotify, but DAMN the camera work and singing on Screech's tale is much different than the spotify version and i mean that in the best way possible, for lack of a better term, ITS FUCKING INCREDIBLE. All of them are incredible.
Can I just say I love all the guitar effects? The 4 shots, the "rewind", such good usage of the medium. I wish more people would be more creative with compositions, sometimes it feels like people get stuck in sheet music and cant imagine making any noises that aren't traditional notes on a scale
Sorry I think I must have been living under a rock! I can't believe I only discovered you yesterday, Ren🙈 Absolutely amazing! I just spent 2 days binge watching all your music repeatly ❤ This one brought me to tears especially having a life story similar to yours, this hit hard. Thank you for sharing your talent and messages with the world you and your music is truly a gift to all that hear it.
Violet suffered from terrible abuse and died in the hospital. The doctors saved her twins. Jenny and James (Screech was his street name). They were adopted into separate families but on the same streets. ..but history repeats itself if we don't do inner work and past life work. Jenny wasn't portrayed as an overly happy-go-lucky girl and as some twisted act of fate happens .. she meets a street kid who kills her because he went all crazy from smoking weed. ( I especially like the fact that weed can drive you crazy was pointed out ). That street kid happened to be her twin brother that she was separated from at birth. He was already taken by the darkness that also consumed his father who abused and killed his mother. This is absolutely GENIUS.
Another thing that I’m not 100% sure is intentional, though knowing Ren I wouldn’t be surprised, and doesn’t seem to have been picked up much is that the story implies that Jenny is a prostitute. ‘Walking the streets’ is a saying used to say someone is a prostitute and he says it a couple times about Jenny walking this street many times, especially in high heeled shoes at 14
I just discovered you about 4 months ago and have become a huge fan. Lyrical genius comes to mind. Money game just blew me away and led me down a path of amazing music you have created. Thank you for sharing it. If you ever tour please come to eastern ontario canada would love to see you perform live. Xo

these 3 songs are such masterpieces. It's so raw, the music is unique in each but they clearly go together, the lyrics are absolutely gripping. Damn Ren, I've listened to your stuff on repeat for weeks now, can't wait for the Dec 15 release!

This artist isn’t playing music, he becomes the characters and the story. Absolutely astonishing talent
It's so good 😢❤😊
And the vast knowledge an experienced expertise he has in and with all different kinds of instruments guitar for when it's very hard to play and the piano is extremely hard to play as well as the several other instruments that he does play astonishing talent is right
For the fact that he doesn't give a s*** about the crazy innocent awesome tunes that he makes with his vocals box almost like a beatbox / instrument box through the mouth and not giving a crap how it sounds but it does sound pretty intriguing and definitely incredible

no
@@adophfishler explain your reasons why you think this is not a story similar to a shakespearean tragedy.
@@cristianborgo1905 well it doesn’t even follow the basic plot structure of a Shakespearean tragedy
@@adophfishler not only does each song follow an unxplicietly stated five act structure, the entire trilogy follows a general five act structure with jenny's tale (exposition, rising action), screech's tale (rising action, climax (possible falling action and denouement)), and violets tale (falling action, ironic denouement).

yah agree, it quite beautiful. a band that i also love are The Lumineers, they also have this beautiful tone/story telling infuse in their music.

I've listened to this atleast 100 times and the ending still hits me like a train. Such great storytelling.
WORD! Modern-days bard with vibrant tales... and tremendous TALENT !
You might like how Radical Face structure their music. The family tree is a cool bunch of albums.
Well put!
If you're not one of the biggest stars in music in the next year/18 months then there is something wrong with the world. This mans talent knows no bounds.
This! 🙌 I swear I will straight revolt!
Well you can go to jail in california for calling someone the wrong pronoun so yah there already is something wrong...
Agreed! 💯
Well, I am afraid most people prefer simple, accessible background music :-)
This is not the first song to deal with this. There are literally thousands of songs, poems movies and stories about this.

REN - JENNY'S TALE
It was a quiet, dark night on an empty street
Somewhere in London City
Jenny walked alone, she was dragging her feet
She was heading back home to sleep
Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor
Because she'd walked it about a thousand times before
She wanted to escape, can you blame?
Well on the very same night, in a different place
There walked a hooded young youth by the name of James
He was 14 years old and out of his brain
He'd been smoking ganja with the boys
James, he grew up to be a kid of the street
His mates called him Screech, he was quick on his feet
He was a liar, a thief at fourteen years old
The devil had set his sights on his soul
As Jenny walked home all alone, she felt scared
Usually she was alright
But it was like there was something in the air
A divine intervention telling her to beware?
Or maybe intuition bugging her and making her so scared?
Sirens sound in the distance to the beat of Jenny's feet
A symphony of the night that echoes crime on London's streets
Jenny turns a corner, their eyes, they meet
Our poor girl Jenny and a boy named Screech
"Give me all your money bitch, give it to me
If you co-operate, then you'll soon be free
I want your purse, your phone
Don't fucking look at me
I mean it bitch, are you listening to me?"
Jenny freezes, statue like, a lady shaped stalagtite
Fear like liquid nitrogen in the dark night
She tried to find strength to move
But stayed as still as a statue in high heeled shoes
"What the hell you playing at? You playing games with me?
I swear to fucking god, I'll slice the rosy off your cheeks
You think I don't mean it girl? You don't know me
The last thing you see will be a boy called-"
Screech reached for the sheath of the blade with the teeth
That could bite through steel and slice concrete
And he swung possessed, with the devil in his chest
And the statue she was turned to, butter in a breath
It was a quiet dark night on an empty street
Somewhere in London city
Jenny laid still on the cold concrete
She's found somewhere to sleep
Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor
Because she'd walked it about a thousand times before
I guess that she escaped, it's such a shame
REN - SCREECH'S TALE
Our story it starts,
Right at the end
of the life of poor Jenny,
Clocked out like big ben
Dear Screech, Dear boy,
Where did he go?
He melted into the black night just like snow
Patrick man, let me in please open the door
I think I fucked up patrick, really fucked up... man I’m not sure
I got crazy left a lady lying still on the floor
I think I killed her patrick come on man i can’t knock no more...
But Screech kept on knocking ‘till his knuckles became sore,
but there’s no sign of Patrick down at number 54,
No refuge for our villain for the bitter hands of fate
Have something far more sinister in mind, that does await
“Hey babe… are you in?
Nah nothing really I’m just a bit tired, listen…
can I swing
around yours a few moments, I just really miss you babe
WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN YOU’RE BUSY?!
YOU FUCKING BITCH! FOR FUCK SAKES!”
Siren sounds approaching like a banshee in the night
The shrill sound of justice cutting like the sharpest knife,
but screech was never one to run, not one to miss a fight,
one hand upon his blade he turned to face the blue lights.
AND THEY FUYCKING CALL ME SCREECH!"
Richard was an officer who stood at six foot three
working london on the nightshift, what he didn’t think he’d see
was a boy running at him like an animal possessed
with no time to hesitate, he fired four bullets at screech’s chest
Our story it ends
right at the start.
Young screech and poor Jenny
lying one street apart.
An officer shaken
by the boy that he claimed.
Two bodies lay lifeless
and its such a shame
It’s such a shame

Rhythmic beeps and blood stained sheets
Our lady weeps; she’s tired and frail
To set the scene
We must rewind the hands of time for violets tale

Grew up with violent starts
Her mother was a drinker
And her father was a bastard
Every night he’d tuck her tight
But never left the room
Ill spare you of the things he did
Im sure her mother knew

She moved out at sixteen
A semi-detached council flat
Paid for by a welfare-scheme
Packing shelves at Tesco’s
Stacking jars like pickled bricks
She met a boy named Stevie
And he was a little prick
Violet was a silent girl
And violet she fell fast
See Stevie was a wrongun
But he sure knew how to charm her
Every night he’d tuck her tight
But never left the room
History repeats itself
Hed paint her black and blue and ah…
She never stood a chance
The devil comes to dance
“Violet, why you always so silent?”
knock knock knock
On her bedroom door and he’s irate
He’s been drinking and smoking he’s up late
And he stands by her bedside, she shakes
But her eyes stay shut
“You fucking slut! I know you’re up!”
and he pinches her eyelids and folds them up
“Violet, why you lying to me violet?”
She stays silent, things turn violent
Knock knock knock
Thats the sound of his fists when they fall like a crashing pilot
Hit like hailstones, one to the collar bone, full force, full blown,
blood splat, bone crack, knick-knack-paddy-whack
one to the jaw and a tooth spat - detached
fist connects and disconnects the bone
a quick deflect to misdirect the blow
But non-the-less his punches met her throat
such a mess; he’s left her bruised and broke
“Violet!?
Why you always so silent violet!? Why you such a little liar violet!?
Do you think I want to do this Violet?!”
In character she stays silent
“Well say something Violet!”
Silence
“Fucking say something Violet!”
Silence…
“Wait… say something Violet”
Not one word, she stays quiet….

“If im to die right here tonight, please let my baby stay alive

Sirens sound in the distance to the beat of Jenny's feet
A symphony of the night that echoes crime on London's streets
Jenny turns a corner, their eyes, they meet
Our poor girl Jenny, a boy named Screech
"Give me all your money bitch, give it to me
If you co-operate, then you'll soon be free
I want your purse, your phone
Don't fucking look at me
I mean it bitch, are you listening to me?"
Jenny freezes, statue like, a lady shaped stalactite
Fear like liquid nitrogen in the dark night
She tried to find strength to move
But stayed as still as a statue in high heeled shoes
"What the hell you playing at? You playing games with me?
I swear to fucking god, I'll slice the rosy off your cheeks
You think I don't mean it girl? You don't know me
The last thing you see will be a boy called-"
Screech reached for the sheath of the blade with the teeth
That could bite through steel and slice concrete
And he swung possessed, with the devil in his chest
And the statue that she was, turned to butter in a breath
It was a quiet dark night on an empty street
Somewhere in London city
Jenny laid still on the cold concrete
She's found somewhere to sleep
Well, she knew this town, she knew this floor
'Cause she'd walked it about a thousand times before
I guess that she escaped, it's such a shame
[Screech's Tale]
Our story, it starts
Right at the end
Heard the life of poor Jenny
Clocked out like Big Ben
Dear Screech, dear boy, where did he go?
He melted into the black night, just like snow
*Knock, Knock, Knock, Knock*
*Knock, Knock, Knock, Knock*
"Patrick, man, let me in, please open the door
I think I fucked up, Patrick, really fucked up, man, I'm not sure
I got crazy, left this lady lying still on the floor
I think I killed her, Patrick, come on man, I can't knock no more"
But Screech kept on knocking, 'till his knuckles became sore
But there's no sign of Patrick, down at number 54
No refuge for our villain, for the bitter hands of fate
Have something far more sinister in mind, that does await
[Interlude] (Spoken)
Hello?
Hey babe, you in?
Nah, nothing really, I'm just a bit tired
Listen, can I swing around yours for a few moments?
I just really miss you, babe
What the fuck do you mean you're busy?
You fucking bitch, for fuck's sake
Sirens sound approaching like a banshee in the night
The shrill cry of justice cutting like the sharpest knife
But Screech was never one to run, not one to miss a fight
One hand upon his blade, he turned to face the blue light
"Come on then, you fucking cunts, let's fucking have you then
I am Screech, I'm the boss, I'm the ender of men
You think that uniform you're wearing means that you own these streets
These are my fucking streets and they call me fucking Screech"
Richard was an officer, who stood at 6 foot 3
Working London on the night shift, what he didn't think he'd see
Was a boy running at him, like an animal possessed
With no time to hesitate, he fired four bullets at Screech's chest
Our story it ends, right at the start
Young Screech and poor Jenny, lying one street apart
An officer shaken, by the boy that he claimed
Two bodies lay lifeless, and it's such a shame
It's such a shame

London city, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5
A lady down in Paddington is fighting just to stay alive
Rhythmic beeps and bloodstained sheets
Our lady weeps, she's tired and frail
To set the scene, we must rewind
The hands of time for Violet's tale
Violet was a silent girl, grew up with violent starts
Her mother was a drinker and her father was a bastard
Every night he'd tuck her tight but never left the room
I'll spare you of the things he did, I'm sure her mother knew
Violet was a silent girl, she moved out at sixteen
A semi-detached council flat paid for by a welfare scheme
Packing shelves at Tesco, stacking jars like pickled bricks
She met a boy named Stevie and he was a little prick
Violet was a silent girl and Violet she fell fast
See Stevie was a wrong'un but he sure knew how to charm her
Every night he'd tuck her tight but never left the room
History repeats itself, he'd paint her black and blue and dark
She never stood a chance
The devil comes to dance
"Violet, why you always so quiet?" *knock, knock, knock*
On her bedroom door and he's irate
He's been drinking and smoking, he's up late
And he stands by her bedside, she shakes
But her eyes stay shut
"You fucking slut, I know you're up!"
And he pinches her eyelids and folds them up
"Violet? Why you lying to me Violet?"
She stays silent, things turn violent
That's the sound of his fists when they fall like a crashing pilot
Hit like hailstones, one to the collar bone
Full force, full blown, blood splat, bone crack
Knick-knack paddy whack
One to the jaw and a tooth spat detached
Fist connects and disconnects a bone
A quick deflect to misdirect the blow
But none the less, his punches met her throat
Such a mess, he's left her bruised and broke
"Violet? Why you always so silent, Violet?
Why you such a little liar, Violet?
Do you think I want to do this, Violet?"
In character, she stays silent
"Well, say something Violet!", silence
"Fucking say something Violet!", silence
"Wait, say something Violet"
Not one word, she stays quiet
London city, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5
A lady down in Paddington is fighting just to stay alive
The doctor in a state of shock saw something here so very wrong
See Violet, she was pregnant
Poor Violet, she was nine months gone
Turning to the doctor, Violet broke her silence and she cried
"If I'm to die right here tonight, please let my baby stay alive"
The doctor soon regained composure
Called the surgeon to come in
As Violet's world turned to black
The curtains closed, the lights went dim
In London city, far from pretty, 2-0-0-5
A lady down in Paddington just lost the fight to stay alive
A tragedy or a miracle, it happened on these very streets
Two twins are lying side by side
A girl named Jenny and a boy named Screech
OMG! THANK YOU SI MUCH.

Jesus. Christ. You paint such a beautifully destructive picture with this artwork Ren. You have a gift that not many possess. Simply brilliant
What I find most interesting is that Jenny and Screech represent Violet’s life. Jenny is her, which is why she freezes up and goes silent, but Screech is Stevie, violent and dangerous with no sense of empathy.
Yeah they adopted the traits of their respective parents
when we are looking closely they are violents but have empathy.
I thought Jenny and Screech were siblings (from Violet)
@@aarondiamond4157 they are, but they had no clue

I feel like this man's the closest we will ever get to a TRUE BARD in our lives. I'm literally transfixed on the whole natural flow of it all.
I thought the same thing.
Indeed 💜
Exactly what popped into my head when watching this. He's a damn bard. Extremely refreshing and cool to see.
I had the exact same thought! A modern Bard indeed.
1000%
Omg Jenny and Screech are Violets twins 😮 wow I can’t even put this into words. You’re an amazing storyteller Ren. This really got me
very few pieces of media have made me cry but god damn this song gets me every time i dont understand how someone can be this damn talented. beautiful work ren
At 10:37 but it's really smooth I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a cut here
I wouldn't be surprised if he just rolled up to the set an nailed it first take honestly, The lads just a bloody good muso
This is the art of it for sure
yeah you can tell its not lip synced as well cos there’s points where words are slightly different, i notice it mostly in screech’s tale like on the phone he says “for a few moments” but on spotify its “for a few minutes”
Ren is the Definition of criminally underrated
i agree
I can't usually agree when people throw around the "underrated" moniker. But quite literally yes, this lad is SEVERLEY in that category.
His guitar skills is a Masterpiece
what i love about Ren’s music is that he doesn’t write it as verses then chorus, he tells a story with fantastic lyrics and amazing guitar. he’s the one i’ve been waiting for
This man is like a modern bard. Just the way he plays and tells a story gives me a feel of how musicians used to play in the old days.
What the fuck???? I didn’t think I could ever be impressed so much by an artist but this dude keeps blowing my mind. All the props to you Ren.
Very few people can create such a narrative and deliver it with such an effect..
he is the greatest Artist ever... There has not ever been another like him... we are Blessed...❤
Blew you away , , , omg I'm in bits , , , just brilliant x
Over and over and over again.

I couldn't have said it better.
I dont get it ? Was jenny and screech her kids?
@@pixiegem yea, so screech killed his twin probably without even knowing her name
Watch “hi Ren”

The stories are amazing. I have never felt so sucked into a song before. Its hypnotizingly good. A true modern bard
First of all, I'm so sorry for the things you must have gone through
Second of all, thank you for being brave enough to work in that field. No one wants to go through those things, but we need people to do it.
Third of all, I agree with this comment 😂
Thank you for fighting so others can feel safe knowing there's people like you to save them
Thanks for being out there, I really respect and appreciate what you lot have to go through. I "escaped" from London many years ago but I still visit frequently. I wanted to do the old Cadet Course at Hendon but I couldn't square it with my conscience.
Thank you for doing all you do to help others.

Absolutely love this
Ennit
❤could not have said it any better! I literally get caught up in the vibes and literally can’t even explain the electrical connection I feel listening to this!❤
Bro is an bard in the 21th century telling tales like no other one could do
That transition back into the guitar riff and vocals when he said “ that’s the sound of his fists when they land like a crashed pilot “ and goes back into the verse was seamless and smooth. This dude is unreal
I am genuinely blown away by every line of every song I hear by ren. I've seen heavy metal reactors fully open up about their mental health to your songs, psychologists questioning their practices, established musicians moved to tears. Her part always gives me goosebumps. So tragic

same. this is the first time I've listened to these songs and I'm crying hard
The way the 'cycle' motif and repeating patterns are worked into this trilogy, all to support the idea that abuse and violence is a cycle... It's unparalleled genius.
First there is the epanaleptic structures, where the starts and end are _mirrored_ :
Jenny's part: "It was a quiet dark night in the empty street..." + "Can you blame"/"Such a shame" (...)
Screech's part: "Our story it _starts_ right at the _end_ " + "Our story it _ends_ right at the _start_ "
Violet's part: "London city far from pretty..." + the rewinding sound effect at the guitar
The whole: starting with Jenny and Screech's death and ending with their birth (...)
Then there are tons of reference to the lexical field of cycles and repeating patterns:
Jenny: "She walked it about a 1000 times before" / she's compared to a clock / "a symphony of the night that _echoes_ crime on London streets"
Screech: "Can I _swing_ ..." he says to his girlfriend
Violet: "Every night he tucked her tight..." / "Packing shelves at Tesco, stacking jars like pickled bricks" so repetitive work, and repetition builds a prison / "History repeats itself"
I'm sure I'm missing a ton.

OMG this explanation is great. Thank you.
Wait holy shit thank you so much, i was wondering how violet played into this, that’s insane
Now that I listen to it again it makes sense
Another thing that I’m not 100% sure is intentional, though knowing Ren I wouldn’t be surprised, and doesn’t seem to have been picked up much is that the story implies that Jenny is a prostitute. ‘Walking the streets’ is a saying used to say someone is a prostitute and he says it a couple times about Jenny walking this street many times, especially in high heeled shoes at 14
Thank you.
The way you're moving between rooms and using the acoustics is pure genius mate. I'm literally lost for words.
