Manchester City never paid for the 3G pitch, the only time they paid was for the sponsorship. All the money raised was by the football club and its been worth it as we have over 30 junior teams on it which pays for itself. The club is on a good financial footing since the pitch went in.
Always found it fascinating how Hyde United were influenced by Manchester City and Salford City continue to be "influenced" by Manchester United old boys
So to be clear.... Hyde United were in financial trouble but following a partnership with Manchetser City they are no longer in financial trouble. OK. City ruining football again!
Nobody sold their soul. Mutually beneficial deal for both sides. Hyde were struggling at the time and threatened with bankruptcy and City needed a temporary home for reserve games whilst the City campus was being built. Nothing more, nothing less.
@@michaelc3051 Yes, the fans were consulted. After the trauma of being temporarily wound up the previous year (a side effect of the Global Financial crisis on a major sponsor), all help was gratefully received. The club is now fan-owned (unlike either City or United), a solvent Community club, and support is increasing.
@@DeadAirMediaFootball If you think it was a shrewd business move, why the clickbait title? Trying to pander to the red clubs perhaps? Slagging City off seems to be the easy way to get clicks.
We support neither Manchester clubs, we just thought this was an interesting story involving a non-league club. Manchester City has to be mentioned in this video. To answer another potential question, yes, we have a Salford City video in the works, which may draw on similar themes. Though it should be pointed out there is no direct link between Manchester United as a club and Salford City, which was not true of Hyde United at the time.
@@DeadAirMediaFootball All headlines are "clickbait" in a sense. I don't think it's anything like as bad as lots I see on a daily basis. Maybe a bit unfair to City, I'd go no further than that. And the video is good. It's a very interesting story, thanks for telling it well.
Can you make a video on Sheffield FC, the worlds first football club. They currently play in the 9th tier and aren't even located in Sheffield anymore. There's a community stadium on the old Don Valley stadium site in the heart of the city centre with excellent transport links with Sheffield Arena and training facilities right next to it but the owner is refusing to move the team to just because the club won't own the stadium, the local council own it. Instead they've unveiled plans to build a stadium in the middle of nowhere but he is considering it as a success as it JUST ABOUT get them back within the lines of Sheffield, even though the local demographic of that area support Sheffield United and there's no way to get there on a match day unless you drive which then means you can't drink
I was one of the fans who was told the club was going bust and i was there doing bucket collection at city stadium. The partnership was the only way forward to survive,im a city fan aswell didn't agree with the name change and colour change of the stadium, but i understood it was the only way forward. Now we are fan owned, have over 40 youth teams playing on our astro turf weekly, and have gone back to our rightful colours.
It just sounds like Hyde thought wanted to secure the future by being a second team for City fans, and worried too much about a couple of things that were very minor from City's point of view, but not Hyde's. How many City fans who might have gone to Hyde when City weren't playing at home would seriously be bothered that Hyde were United? Or that the seats were red?! All the best for now as a fan owned club. Sounds like it's going well! As a non league fan years ago, Hyde were always United, and good to know they still are.
Went there on Easter Monday to see the Super Silkmen win 3-1 and push for that 2nd spot gor play offs, nice food and ground, just a shame Hyde didn't turn up on and off the field 😂

With Salford though at least the United old boys are actual owners so can't just leave overnight and cancel sponsorship

We’re the fans consulted on the change of name, club colours etc?
There is no link between Salford City and Manchester United. Ex-United players bought Salford, but the two clubs have no formal partnership.

They got some stadium upgrades out of it and a few year's at a higher level, less travel in the northern premier league and less costs.
It was a shrewd business move.

We're really not sure what your point is, but the use of language is unbecoming, so we'll report you.

We have a video on their new stadium on our to do list.
It around 7 miles from The Etihad Stadium to Hyde United not 3 miles.
Yea, this is one that not many made a video on 😊
Good editing from you 😮

Change does not sell or remove your soul.
did FA Prelim Badge there in 1990
Good video, keep them coming
I’ve played against the youth team we beat them 4 - 0
