The young Palestinians are not just dying for a cause, they're willing to die for their home, for their families, for their lands, for their country. The Israelis, on the hand, are fighting to occupy someone else's land. And occupiers have never known to have the same motivations as resistance fighters.
Nor long term rights to possession of the others country they occupy by force by eviction. (Truth be told, twas the 🇬🇧 RMPs who showed the fledgling Israelis HOW to successfully evict Pals from their homes, before same and the murdering 3 fell out, if course).
Exactly, but somehow all these western expert directly or indirectly equates Palestinian resistance as terrorism . They also somehow always manage to highlight and condem the resistance by calling it appalling and horrific .
Hamas' 7/10 attack reflects Algeria's 01/11/1954 attack on the french which, after hundreds of thousands of algerians killed, brought international attention to the colonization in addition to the defeat of french forces in the guerrilla battles. As the French retaliation got more brutal, more and more Algerians started turning against the french government and the FLN got more support. As the years passed, even the french public turned against the colonization. All this lead to the eventual inevitable end of a 132 years long occupation and genocide. Also like the hamas attack, the Algerian attack happened in a french holiday. There are many similarities which point to the inevitable end of occupation of Palestine, unless of course, the US chooses to follow israel's WW3 path. Edit: some said that the difference is the FLN attack didn't happen within frances borders. Wrong, there was no Algeria at the time because Algerian land got completely annexed by france and became france proper. So yes, the FLN attack happened within france and was widely labeled as a "terrorist" attack. Hmm, familiar.
That’s an interesting observation. I hadn’t thought of that. I guess one of the differences in this situation was that they crossed the border, whereas the battle of Algiers and subsequent battles took place within the borders of Algeria. Perhaps that seems like a small detail but I think from a symbolic perspective, especially vis-à-vis an world w is largely ignorant of the history of this region, Or am I just talking about people in the US. I pray that you are correct. But from what I can see this is a different situation entirely. They’re leveling the place and there will be nowhere to return to. It might not even be livable for the captors. Pure insanity
One big difference: the French living in Algeria (the so-called pieds noirs) had somewhere to go - the metropole, France. Israelis who have known no other country, whose parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents were born there have nowhere to go, therefore they will fight to the bitter end - and, don’t forget, they have nuclear weapons.
The difference is that the French had their home country to which to return. The Israelis have nowhere else to go, so they have to fight until the last one falls.

Make no mistake, Israel actions in Gaza are illegal and unjustified when considering the international law, responding to an offense has rules and limites and justifying the destruction of Hamas is not a right within the law. The 7th of October is a shock for only the delusional and the arrogant.
This is what I put to people who harp about Oct 7th….. Was it shocking in Nat Turners Rebellion of 1831 when Black Slaves killed 65 White People in a Slave Revolt?
@@dorothyleeuw8774 The reaction to the Nat Turner Revolt was beyond horrendous for their revenge they even killed people who had no idea that the revolt had even happened. Hi Owen, Israeli here. I largely agree with Prof. Paul Roger's prospective about this war, but there are a few points I disagree with him on: (1) Israel’s right-wing shift is not (primarily) because of immigration from the former Soviet states in the 90s. Notably, while the immigration largely ended by 1995, Israel was still relatively left-wing back then. Instead, it is largely explained by the Israeli experience of the Second Intifada and the results of the withdrawal from Gaza (pre-blockade), which suggested to the public that the Palestinians cannot be trusted to be peaceful when given independence. (2) The beginning of this war was horrible no doubt - Northern Gaza was devastated similarly to Dresden in WWII. But American pressure does seem to be having some effect on Israeli tactics, as some analysts have recognized - Israel has refrained from bombing Khan Yunis so far to nearly the same extent, sticking more to targeted operations. I know this is not very optimistic given the situation, but I still have hope that Gaza won’t be horrifically razed to the ground as much of Gaza City has, and the death toll is slowing down as well. (3) I think there is too much emphasis on Israeli voices calling Palestinians "amleks" and for genocide. It's largely for audience consumption - because, as you said, Israel's current government is extremely right-wing. But it is also very unpopular for obvious reasons, and will certainly get replaced at the next elections with a somewhat more sane one. Also there are a few quotes being taken out of context - the "human animals" one for example certainly referring specifically to Hamas in context, and not to all Gazans as people are making it out to be. Lastly, related to point (1), I feel something crucial gets missed in your conversations, which Paul Roger alluded to a little bit. And it is this - the motivation and beliefs of Palestinians are important. Any future solution that “addresses the underlying problems” must take into account what they want. Polls and interviews have repeatedly established that a majority approves of October 7th, and around half have the long-term goal of conquering back everything they lost in 1948. Israel simply cannot let this happen as it will put its entire population in grave danger. Serious efforts must be made to think also about how to move the next generations of Palestinians towards wanting peace. It is not just about Israel ending its current war, or even ending the occupation, as this long-term goal of reversing the Nakba will remain unfulfilled and is incompatible with peace or security for the Palestinians or Israelis. Thanks for reading.
Agreed - we should never underestimate the power of the narrative. There could have been a solution back in the 40's if the absolutist stance had substituted belligerence for diplomacy.
Officially 83% of social media posts opposing Israel, and only 9% with Israel … I think it’s an international consensus and that will change the future forever.
@@priestsonaplane2236 Partially true, but you're ignoring an important fact, the language of military power is about to vanish, it turns out tech disruption also apply on weaponry, if you insist on the same path you're moving backward. Israel already lost in terms of soft power.
After evicting a million indigenous Semitic Arabs from their homes the Israeli terror state created 80 years of war. What part of that extrapolation escapes you??

The young Palestinians are not just dying for a cause, they're willing to die for their home, for their families, for their lands, for their country. The Israelis, on the hand, are fighting to occupy someone else's land. And occupiers have never known to have the same motivations as resistance fighters.
Nor long term rights to possession of the others country they occupy by force by eviction.

The Isrealis are also fighting for their ancestral homeland. This reality is often omitted.
So why did Israel dismantle the settlements in Gaza and left in 2005??
@@simonstuddert-kennedy8854nearly half of Israelis are dual citizens. They can go back to the 109 countries they crawled out of. It’s Palestinians who have nowhere to go but THEIR land.

You'd think certain folks, with regard to their grandparents history, would know bloody better.

Hey, Adolf says hi 👋

Hi Owen, Israeli here. I largely agree with Prof. Paul Roger's prospective about this war, but there are a few points I disagree with him on:
(1) Israel’s right-wing shift is not (primarily) because of immigration from the former Soviet states in the 90s.
Your last point is absolute bs.
Agreed - we should never underestimate the power of the narrative. There could have been a solution back in the 40's if the absolutist stance had substituted belligerence for diplomacy.
@@RoyMunson10 Care to explain why you think so?
