    I’m 225lbs, but I dream of being able to do a muscle up one day. Was just able to do 10 pull ups last training. Couldn’t even do 5 a few month ago.

    • @uncolorr
      @uncolorr ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I'm 154lbs and my max is 5. One of my objectives is to achieve a muscle up. Guess we're on the same boat

    • @enekaitzteixeira7010
      @enekaitzteixeira7010 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you can do 10 pullups you're not there yet, but you're almost able to do a muscle up. Try pulling higher and higher and improve your max a little. Then aim for good mucle up form. Kipping is allowed and you'll need it at the beggining, and probably always in fact. Be patient.

    The answer is that everything counts that stimulates your body to grow stronger and bigger.
    You notice that by how it feels, so you need to be honest to yourself (duh).
    Cheating only hurts yourself.

    I'm weak at pull ups... I do 3 sets of 6 - 6 - 5 pull ups.... 3 times a week with 1 min rest between sets.... But I do slow perfect reps with full range of motion... (all the way down) .... and guys... believe it or not I can do muscle ups.... perfect slow reps are extremely effective.... (not too slow reps... I mean decent full control reps)... as your reps increase, you will see that your reps will become faster but again full control eccentric/concentric phases... I'm 50 years old and very muscular heavy man.... and young guys, please listen to me and stop half rep jerky fast movements... if you want to increase your performance, reps, strength and muscle size without injury....

      Question is not really about "how long", but "how often"...
      Train regularly, be consistent, respect your day off and sleep and go for it.

      I varies depending upon age, weight, strength, practice, etc.
      when I was 17, I could do the full pull up right from day one and without any physical fitness background. it was 1997-98 and Internet wasn't so much available in my country. I didn't even know the name of this exercise!!! or how beneficial it is or how difficult it is for most people to achieve. so I took it for granted. anyway, within a month I could do 12-14 in single set. then I stopped it after some time. I still curse that decision because now I am more aware about exercises and their benefits.
      then I restarted fitness journey at the age of 35. obviously I couldn't do a single one. I only used pull down machine in the gym and once I could use almost 85% or 90% of my bodyweight on it, I was able to do full pull ups and chin ups for 6-8 reps. soon I reached 14 per set. but I do them like once a week or sometimes in 15 days because I was also prioritizing Deadlift and barbell rows. I also did weighted versions with additional half my bodyweight. today I am 44 and can do 20 chin ups and 18 pull ups. my plan is to keep them at bodyweight and use them for muscular endurance and general fitness. my main priority is deadlift that I personally find more beneficial for my fitness goals.
      sorry for a long reading time, I just wanted to share my experiences. maybe it helps someone.

      Do everything, bodyweight training is mostly safe in all ages. If you want you can also start to do weight training, but I would suggest you to learn bodyweight basics like Push Ups, Squats and Pull Ups or Rowing on a Bar first, especially with correct form.

    • @farhanhussain_

      it shouldn't be either-or thing. these all are non clashing and can be pursued simultaneously.

  • @dobrinhristov3940
    @dobrinhristov3940 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I mean, if you're not training to do muscle ups or calisthenics and are just looking for strength and/or hypertrophy, then doing only the bottom part of the movement (with a deep stretch) is theoretically equally as valid as a full range of motion.

    What about setting the standard of touching with the hip on the bar, and going to failure, considering failure when you dont reach the bat with your hip, would this be effective on muscle builiding, or only to get more explosiveness?

    • @calimove
      @calimove  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Only good for working on explosiveness. You got too many regular reps left in the tank to make this work for hypertrophy focused training.

    Whats the difference on pulls ups if your feet is in front and at the back. At the back means like crossed?

  • @byron_hs4604

    It mostly depends on what you weigh and your goals. A guy at 150 lbs vs a guy at 200 lbs is very different.

    Is he not going to the dead hang? Pls reply I can do 10ish pull ups but now I'm confused whether I should do it with an active dead hand or true dead hang

    • @calimove
      @calimove  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A complete Deadhang with a elevated scalua is good to learn the movement, but not that good for consistent muscle tension in your back. For a fluid Pull Up motion, it's enough top completly extend your arms.

      Sounds like too much bizeps. Pull more using the back (squeeze shoulder blades). Do antagonists - in this case push ups/dips for triceps.
