What a great video! I'm just starting down the road of card modeling and your video has cleared up a lot of questions I had. Much thanks and looking forward to any of your videos. Well made too.
There is also another method that Bob Lutz is working on using a vacuum and heat formed plastic. It is great for the more curved shapes on a clear canopy for a paper model.
I wondered that too,but as I watched when he cut the tabs out on the 1st layer of tape it left gaps.then when he taped the back the cut gaps where now sticky. Smart.
You know, these folks were dealing with here like to build static paper models, but a fair amount has opened their eyes into incorporating micro r/c and stufff into these small paper models and may also apply a small amount of depron foam. I don`t think it`s "all that" but it is modelling, and i like modelling. Both plastic and r/c. I`m even contemplating doing a few of these fiddling paper models. fourmost the Caproni Stipa "flying barrel" as these odd birds are somewhat amusing to me ;-)
Yes. Most of the models come with an instruction sheet, which is a basic diagram of how the parts fit together. It helps to have a picture of how the paper model is supposed to look when it's done. A lot of the building models had that printed on the back of the postcard before the internet was around.
I've watch this a few months back and it is a really good technique despite I'm using cardstock (160 GSM) but it made my sopwith camel model luminated though, thanks btw.
@@chipfyn1 Sure did. I'll be exploring Monday morning before me and my handicapped son go out for yard work. He loves to watch me work-maybe because I play Beach Boys and CCR while I work. Its time to share some creations with my grandkids.
I discovered these models on Google when I was in 7th or 6th grade and I always wanted to know about the website I seen it and it looked like it just been abandoned
Nope, it's not abandoned. It gets updated every Saturday with 7 free models for everyone who has an active Magic Keys subscription. WHy do you say it looks like it's abandoned?
@@chipfyn1 I actually just looked at the website and yeah I see it now anyways you kind of can see how the website is kind of looking really old and how Google says it's not a secure website but now I see it is active
Genius!!!! Just made my stress of trying to figure how to make paper models more realistic go away lol.
Awesome instructions, this works for RC planes as well, without the heat gun, vacuum form, etc. Thanks!!!
You're welcome. Some of our planes at www.Fiddlersgreen.net are aerodynamic enough to fly.
This is the best modelling tip video I have ever seen! Kudos!

Thank you so much 😊 all of my models just have the colored canopy now I know how to make it more realistic. Thank you
Man!!! I fought a lot with transparency that is hard to work and gets very dirty when glued! You're genius!!!!

Thanx for this!!
Thank you for the tutorial !
You're welcome, and thanks for the comment.
beautiful
Fantastic! I like it!!
I'd like to do some videos that help people learn how to design models. Perhaps some step by step tutorials on the graphics software?
👍👍👍

Useful video. Thanks.
Thank you uncle Bob!!! I will soon make my video to constribute my vaccumm technique!!
Maravilhosa!! sua dica!!!

@@chipfyn1 If your talking how to videos you could do landing gear rolling them is a pain must be a better way.
How do you make canopies for the Cessna 172 Skyhawk when there is no frame on the windshield ?
coke bottle,heat and practice

When you buy a template from the website does it give you instructions on how to make it?

thank you VERY much for making this video!
Simple, but effective!
Brilliant! Thanks for this
I'm waiting for your A-10 Paper model :)
great tut, thx for sharing.
Amazing I used some tape on my b17 bomber.
How did it come out?
@@chipfyn1 quite good, I'll do a video on it later.
I didn't know you were still in business...
Yep. Two generations now. We have to stay in business to make sure everyone can still get their models.
@@chipfyn1 I'll have to get in the groove.
@@davidrasch3082 You have hundreds of models in your online folder. I sent you an email to help with that. Did you get it?

¡De nada!
what is the name of the glass
It's called packing tape, or sometimes packaging tape.
Master!
Ooh do tha sky crane plzzz
Thanks i have spitfire whit rerestic canopy!
Very useful
wicked !
hmm not bad, but i think sticking a ciggaret packing foil only from inside looks better
What if you did both? You could have the clear packing tape canopy on the outside and the tin foil on the inside. Sounds interesting.
does it fly
No they are paper models
I like.
👍👍👍👍
Bravasooooooo
Then you will have no tape left to attach parts at last stage.
porada z cyklu: jak tego nie robić.
Good method for 1980, not for 2010.
How we do in 2010?
