I saw Jane's Addiction in a really small club in the UK back in 1990 (The Bierkeller in Bristol with just a couple of hundred audience members....going fucking crazy!!!!) and i don't think Dave had any tattoo's at the time.......that i can remember (or none that were visible at least). Perry had one (that Praying Mantis type thing on his arm) which i think is still the only one he has! They were such an amazing band back then (one of the best bands EVER at the time!) but sadly the last time i saw them (2003 i think ?) it felt like i was watching a very average Jane's Addiction tribute band just going through the motions. At least i have the memories of them when they were truly a magnificent band to behold!!!
I love Dave, but damn do I ever wish things could be different. Listening to him talk about all his amazing tattoos, mainly the rose tattoo. But yeah if your a rock star/ famous person, you have the right to express yourself. You can live your full life, purple hair, tattoos, piercings etc. But any average person, trying to land a job, etc, have to worry about a tiny nose ring. I love Dave, he has true talent. No ones life is perfect, but can't EVERYONE have that beautiful freedom he does?

I was kind of... upset with Dave because of all the times he judged artists with a... misogynistic eye. Some artists would get female canvases and if they wanted something, not "feminine" and the artist gave them what they wanted, the artist would probably end up on the bottom or slandered for making the girl leave "less cute" than when she came in. It seemed to have pissed a lot of people off in the comments section and I do agree on that being misogynistic and he should judge for the art and not because it wasn't cute or feminine.

They were forced to shave their heads, get the tattoo of their number and much more. So when she meant she “has one but not by choice” she revealed she was in a concentration camp during the Holocaust and saw the horrors of it
I remember reading the story of the woman on the plane saying she had a tattoo from the holocaust and I couldn't for the life of me remember who the musician it was! Didn't realise he went and got a tattoo after to commemorate the meeting. Makes me love Dave more
Okay.. so it’s 2021… Dave’s message reminds me .. There was a pottery sale every year to raise money for students.. I looked at every beautiful piece and selected the one that was artfully done but clearly not done as skillfully as the others. I really like the colors, the design, but the lines aren’t straight- it wasn’t ‘perfect’- and that’s what I like about it. I wanted to support the person who probably thought that no one would chose their piece. To me it was the best one!
Dave your approachable, the ability to share such a historic time, in a person's life, with it comes a gratitude, a historic gratitude- That with you, her story will not be in vain, and for a bit there, she took you to a memory, suspended in a traumatic time- "crying"- vowing to never forget.. a history through eyes of a survivor of the holocaust. Love Ink Master and Dave of coarse, watching something they have drawn come to life on a body is great to watch. Its a lot of fun, at one time tattoos were a taboo subject. My ancestor's Ta Moko were banned, my Great Aunt being one of the last women in our tribe to wear one that was in the early 1970's, now the men and women are returning to Ta Moko or even having Maori designs on their body, in my eyes beautiful to see. There are people who don't like them. Your Ink is special to you and you don't need to justify why you did it!
Dave will probably never see this comment, but I had the honor to meet the same lady (at least I think so)! She had dinner at my house in Mexico City in 1995! Her life testimony changed my life forever! Her name was Rose Price! She told me the SAME THING about her tattoo! If it is the the same person, it would be the craziest coincidence ever!
I love this show..Lyle Tuttle is an old Friend of mine..I was on his Biz.Cards in 1962..I've Been Watching Him Do tattoos all these yrs..I was there when he tattooed the Allman Bro..& Hot Tuna (1971 & 2)...I got my one & only tattoo from him in 1971 ..a Dragon That he signed his name around..This was the 1st.time he ever signed his name on anyone..I played at Both tattoo Balls at Bimbos in San Francisco..around 1978.(I'm a Musician)..Tattooing has come a long way..I'm 69 now Lyle Is 82...
