Except in this case, the father put doubts in her head because of his own words. HE caused her to seek out the test by saying that he always wondered if she was really his. It's sad, yes. But, he shouldn't have said that if he didn't want her to go there.
Even with those doubts he still raised her.... He probably only put that bug in her ear due to blatant infidelity, insecurities and pure saltiness. Very interesting. I applaud this woman and her family are for how they handled the grandfather's vile prejudices. That couldn't have been easy. When I was a young woman, I would've had the same opinion that this daughter expressed regarding how our lives are not determined by our ancestors' but feel differently as I've gotten older. Although as adults, I think we can pick and choose what characteristics we're going to take on but making major behavioral changes takes a lot of self awareness and internal work.
Her daughter is lovely and has a beautiful French name. Cosette is the name of the single mother in Les Miserables, in the book by Victor Hugo, France's beloved author.

My grandmother claimed that my mother was fathered by a member of the British Royal Family ... nobody believed her. She was living in a very working class area of London when my mother was conceived. However ... in 1999, long after my grandmother's death, I came across a web-page that detailed the movements of Prince Albert (later to become King George VI) around the time of my mother's conception. He attended a gathering of "working-class leaders", accompanied by only a single companion, at a location very close to where my grandmother was living ... on. believe it or not May Day (it is reported from other sources that the Prince was toying with becoming a Socialist!) He was in the habit of popping over to Paris, incognito, for a day or two, where, so his brother's diary noted, he had liaisons with women. My grandmother claimed my mother was conceived in Paris. If my grandmother's claim is true (that my mother was fathered by a "member of Royalty") then Queen Elizabeth may be my aunt.
My mother told me that when she was very young (maybe about 4) her mother took her to "large house in the country" ... where a man came into her room and spoke to her ... she thought that he was her father. Her mother later told her that her father was "a Duke". Albert was then the Duke of York. In 1930 my grandmother had a total mental breakdown, after the man she was living with left her for a younger woman ... my mother ended up in an orphanage. A "mysterious benefactor" arranged for her to be fostered out and provided for her education.... my mother thought that he was probably a relative ... my grandmother came from a family background that included people who owned farms and were fairly well-off. Immediately prior to my grandmother being taken away to an asylum and my mother being placed in an orphanage my mother said that "Three well-dressed men visited the house ... she thought that they had 'come from her father'". Its possible that money was provided to a family member to support my mother.
After not having looked at my Ancestry account for a couple of years I, for no reason, felt inclined to check it ... and found a message, posted a few days earlier, from a descendent of the man who my grandmother lived with until 1930. He had married and had chldren after he left my grandmother. As he is recorded on my mother's birth certificate as her father his descendents by his wife should have the same DNA as my branch ... if he really was my mother's father. I haven't yet figured out how to persuade them to have their DNA tested (at my expense). Do I want to prove I'm not of "royal blood"?
That daughter's comment is about the best thing I have ever heard on the internet. "Our ancestors don't make us who you are". Super intelligent answer. Don't be ashamed of yourself girl you are beautiful inside and out. My great great grandmother was a Cherokee Indian. I was told I had Indian blood in me once by my grandmother. My mother never really talked about it but I felt my grandmother was ashamed of it. Then in my adult years I learned that back in those days being Caucasian with an Indian was like an African American being with a Caucasian in my lifetime. Who you love is who you love. Who you are is who you are.
What does the DD mean her ancestry doesn't influence us?!?! She chose not to act like him!!! Nobody wants to hear their father was part of the KKK and attacked mlk!!!
Thought it would be more exciting than that. Kind of a let down. Most older people that age are either racist in one way or another or anti PC so that wasn’t surprising. The info on the great grandfather was a little more interesting but still, I expected more.

And I feel that the man she called father was in her life to protect her from the revelations of her biological father until she was strong enough to handle what was reviled. Her family (Mother, husband, daughter, and the man who raised her). Is her strength.
Wow! God bless this woman and her new family. What an amazing example of class & kindness. It just goes to show us that we are not defined by our parents & if God wants to change the hearts of children He will! XO
I love what Cosette said. “Your ancestors don’t make you who you are.” Brilliant! I wish everyone else thought this way. Maybe all the hatred would stop.
Applause to the man that raised her and stuck by her even though he knew she wasn't his!
Wait... so am I the only one who just realized that we just found out who killed mlk jr.
I just stumbled on this by chance. I couldn't get a picture but heard the commentary and I was like, What did she just say? MLK's killer was just revealed on the Meghan Kelly show and she just glossed right over it. WTF!
Kimberly Bernard Wasn't it already revealed who killed him though?
am not sure if i heard it right......
Weve already been " told" who killed mlk however we know who they say killed him is false.
The govt killed him
Kimberly Bernard he was one of the men who did it
My Adoptive Dad will always be the best Dad I know & lucky to have.
My bio father deserted me when I was 12 yrs old. My mother married a man who I call dad. He was bi racial I am black he treats me as his child. I will always love him as my dad.
You can't judge yourself or your life based on what your ancestors did. The past is dead. The future is alive.

DNA advances are such a crazy thing. I'm adopted and recently took the tests and found so many things I wasn't even looking for. Mind blown.
I just love Megyn!!!!! She interviews the most awesome people with the most unique stories and is always so composed....
Her daughter is beautiful! And I know it had to hurt her hearing mom hearing that about her grandfather. So sad 😔
Well...I was not expected that. Mind blowing
Just goes to show that a person should NEVER be judged on the actions of their ancestors, and people shouldn't have to apologise for being related to horrible people.
Wow she looks so young, and very beautiful!!!
My goodness, Wendy and her daughter can pass as sisters!!!
Who is a dad? In my tribe we say whoever raises the child is the dad not biological.
Our ancestors do partly make us who we are.
I think what she meant is that, her great-grandfather actions can't influence her as person, neither can her grandfathers beliefs, even if they are related by blood.
Absolutely.
I kinda was thinking that too, but I realized what the baby was saying🤔, cute girl.
What? Riveting? And then you give us 3/4's of a human story and don't wrap it up with a finish??? What's up with that? You. Left. Us. HANGING. Terrible interview.
Kathleen5429 i thought I was the only one it doesn’t make sense
I'm here saying the same thing ..waiting for the pin to drop\shoe to drop & yawnnn. This was not a riveting anything.
Megan doesn't want to say too much and turn off her FOX News fans
I so agree. She just cut the interview with no real wrap-up or closure.
Centennial It looks like it was on NBC? The Today Show? Not Fox.
Wow. Well done for handling this news so well. My husband and I are still struggling with recent discoveries. I wish you and you family all the best!
Thank you! All the best to you too.
Last year we found out my sisters and I have an older sister. Due to the lack of a relationship with my paternal mother, we where shocked. My paternal mother refused her as she did all her kids she did raise. Its a sad but glorious opportunity to have an older sister. She even looks like me!!!
Paternal mother? Do you mean Paternal grandmother?
@@indigenousspinster_6665 I think she must have been raised by 2 lesbians. One is more motherly/nurturing, the other wears the pants and flannel shirts, you know, the more parental mother, who they call Pop.
@@adeho789 i think what she meant was Biological mother, she clearly doesn’t have a basic I understanding of familial terms
@@adeho789 and no that doesn’t exist in lgbt relationships, neither in lgbt families 😂
@@indigenousspinster_6665 Oh, yes, that does make more sense. I think you're right on biological mother. Some people are even worse! I knew a guy in his 20's who was an only child... He didn't know the difference between nephew/niece and cousin. He claimed to be really smart and have a high IQ, yet he couldn't get those straight. /:
Their daughter is absolutely beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
What a beautiful family. So sorry Wendy Spencer's dad was a racist and a disappointment.
The old man is missing out on having this beautiful family in his life by his attitude. He doesnt deserve them.
Sadly he was brought up by a racist and just carried the torch of racism further into his future.
Hope he turns his life around and find out what he has been missing out on most of his life, being part of the human race (whether black, indian, white, asian) were all family
So she's at least 50 years old ! She looks good !
Well thanks for this. I’m on my 3rd decade of searching, and prepared for some bad and ugly, so it’s inspiring to me to hear this story.
I'm about to turn 46. I wish I could say I've aged as well as this beautiful woman. Wendy won the genetic lottery there.
She looks in her twenties
"I don't believe our ancestors make us who we are".... What a remarkable young woman!
If my grandfather kicked your grandfather it is on my grandfather ........if my son kicks your son , it is on me because I should have taught him better !
Cosette is actually the daughter.
We just recently discovered a nephew that was my deceased brothers son proven by DNA test. We finally got to meet with this 25 year old nephew. Oh Lord! He was an absolute know it all. No one could carry on a conversation with this kid because he thinks he knows more than anyone!
"People oughta accept me for the way I am." .....Yeah maybe offer others the same courtesy, bro
Devastating
She had a lucky escape, you are not defined by your family history, it is what you do in your own life that matters. The man was a product of his upbringing, he knows no better.
We can't change the past but in the future love can conquer all.
bingbong. Fairness can change the past n present times!!!
woah, was not expecting that last twist. Props to her for dealing with it so well. What a lovely family.
What a beautiful result of this couple. This daughter is so precious and beautiful. God bless them all and cover them. No ancestors should make you who you are, very well said
Wow this family is absolutely amazing! God bless them! Wanting to find out the truth and getting pinched in the stomach like that! What a wonderful sweet family! Her parents raised her right and thank goodness her biological dad didn’t raise her. Her husband is beyond classy! Now they’re doing an amazing job as parents!!
First of all their daughter is so beautiful ❤️ Second it's a good thing that the dad that raised her was the dad that raised her because she would have turned out like him too since they learn it from their fathers and mothers, it's good that she didn't grow up with him.
The granddaughter is extremely pretty.
You guys are a beacon of light for that family!!!! You have the chance to save them all!!!!! Good luck!!!! may God bless you all
This is such a powerful story. What I took away is that racism is taught based on your environment, upbring, social setting etc and not something that you inherit. So sad!
Interesting story.
dang she doesn’t look 49 at all
The DNA test reveals I am 26% golden retriever.
Good for you. You are from better stock than most
Oh nice. How's your barking?
Lol i love this thread
LMAO! Thanks, I needed a good laugh! :'D :'D :'D :'D
Awesome I am 25% golden retriever and 25% dachshund, 20% irish wolfhound and 30% border collie! I think you may be my cousin!
Considering his father he is very liberated. Now Wendy can turn things around for him. Hope she will still get in touch and be patient to know him. Thank God, that family curse is broken. Praying for your success. Don't give up.
The mom and the daughter are both so beautiful.
I was adopted as an infant and had no real idea of my ancestral origins. I took a DNA test and found my birth families as well as a couple surprises in my DNA :)
Luka Slone how much did it cost and how can someone accesses this
Lateef, I took my test through Ancestry DNA and it was 99.00 when I did it but now, I think, it's 79. Just log into the site and sign up for their free trial. I cancelled w/o having to pay and I was still able to take the test and I can still access my results.
So he said that he took part off Martian Luther king murder
That's the only thing that I heard that actually matter to me
Every thing else matter very little ..
And the church bombing that killed those 4 little girls
I am stunned how gracious Wendy reacted and handled that. Also her husband and daughter. Actually it is horrifying. The only good thing I took out of this story is superficial, but true. She obviously has great looks, as I really thought she was in her 30´s.
Yeah, she took after her biological father, but she is so beautiful, unlike him.
I really wish they would bring back Megyn Kelly! She always had great topics!
And she does it again gracefully. Great interview.
Well that bis a switch , racist has biracial granddaughter .......... lol
ahahaha best story ever :D
Take this! Racist! xD
I'd suggest there are many many racists out there who have biracial children lol you are simply not told about it..
my biofather is one off them
And a Jewish daughter. =-D
Haha I'm one but my grandma is black
See, eventually down the line,
Our generation, combined,

David Peters that is a crazy cool story ... Have you done a DNA test yet?
Wow that's crazy if indeed he was her father
After not having looked at my Ancestry account for a couple of years I, for no reason, felt inclined to check it ... and found a message, posted a few days earlier, from a descendent of the man who my grandmother lived with until 1930. He had married and had chldren after he left my grandmother. As he is recorded on my mother's birth certificate as her father his descendents by his wife should have the same DNA as my branch ... if he really was my mother's father. I haven't yet figured out how to persuade them to have their DNA tested (at my expense). Do I want to prove I'm not of "royal blood"?
@@jordanpeters3746 I mean that could be interesting, just like adopted kids wanting to know who their real parents are
That daughter's comment is about the best thing I have ever heard on the internet.
Same with my family and great great grandmother
But it was talked about more. And also Algonquin.
Very good episodes
strom Thurman had a black daughter....no different then being on the plantation.
He had more than 1 black daughter. I believe there are 2 others. His daughter that came out and told the truth is my aunt.
Such a horrible man and he made laws for us to obey
Very attractive lady. Be careful searching. Mom kept him out of her life for a reason.
What does the DD mean her ancestry doesn't influence us?!?! She chose not to act like him!!! Nobody wants to hear their father was part of the KKK and attacked mlk!!!
The Granddaughter wonderfully answered the question of not being our ancestors!
Grace and class is right‼️
Thought it would be more exciting than that. Kind of a let down. Most older people that age are either racist in one way or another or anti PC so that wasn’t surprising. The info on the great grandfather was a little more interesting but still, I expected more.
Megan Kelly is not good at this!!!!! Wasted interview.
londiwe langa well Megan is a racist... So she can't figure out how to be unbiased.
Agreed.. this interview was choppy.. she should have introduced to 2 additional people to the panel...! Megan is Fox News person, she just doesn’t have what it takes to nurture a meaningful conversation... she’s hard.. really black and white... no gray when she reports
londiwe langa. Megan appears to have dark eyes, not sure, have not really sought out a close up, but that is "one" way to tell when there is dark- skinned genealogy within a person; thick/ thicker lips, natural full heavy hair, real obvious hips, easily tans, curly black hair, heavier speaking vocal tones! Most Blacks; Latinoes, Native Americans, Asians can tell when you carry our ancestry, whether you can or not.
londiwe langa that’s because she’s racist and a trump supporter!

Hopefully god can open narrow minded souls that hate is not the way it just a festation to eat away ate ones very conscious .
