Thanks man I'm going into High School because of this whole covid thing I haven't been able to play in two years I forgot some of the football terminology like which hole you need to go in

Excellent that's kind of the goal of these videos. They are mostly for Europeans but I'm glad it can help someone across the ocean.

Ran into this and recommended it to some people as it's a very helpful explainer. I know it's a couple years old, so if you've corrected this or gotten a better understanding, disregard. D-line tech verbiage is somewhat independent of the larger gap system, it's more about how we're shaded against specific offensive linemen largely dictated by defensive scheme and our aiming points. Strong/weak determines what side your nose/tackle and strong/weak DE's line up on, the techs then tell the D lineman what position to take relative to the O lineman.
Zero technique is head up on the center, 1 is shaded essentially with your inside shoulder directly across the center's outside shoulder relative to the side of the ball you are on. 2 is head up the guard, 2i(nside) is your outside shoulder shaded over the guards inside shoulder, 3 technique is your inside shoulder over the guards outside shoulder. 4 is head up tackle, 4i(nside) is shaded inside tackle, and 5 is shaded outside tackle. That the numbers correspond with one side of the hole numbering scheme the offense uses is a coincidence.

Thank you so much, this is from a general Defense perspective, I made this with the idea that a non US american would want to learn the sport. I know D-line is more specific on the shading. I have even seen the youth sleeves that have even on one arm, odd on the other. However in 80% of European teams they will use ABC gaps to keep consistency for people who walked on the field 2 weeks ago at the age of 27. the top leagues in Italy, Germany, Poland even France probably use numbering.
I definitely wanted to say more on the topic but I had to realize my mission with this playlist and my target audience. Never seen the sport before or anything like it and not very good with American English Terminology.

@@dashric For sure, and why I recommended it to the people I did. It's a very good video, but it got a little muddy at the very end and didn't know if it was something you weren't familiar with or if it was just a little awkward because you weren't sure if you should include or not. Always glad to see people help others learn the game!
