8:21 skip stop service. The 1 had it with the 9 train where it ran skip stop service from 242 st to 137st in the AM rush hour or 137st to 242nd st during the PM rush hour
The unused rail you saw at Myrtle Avenue is actually an old elevated system. It used to go from Middle Village to Park Row via the Brooklyn Bridge. Later, service was cut to Adams street I believe it was. It was later demolished, and was replaced by B54 bus service. There are abandoned middle express tracks along the line to Middle Village, and a wide gap at some stations for the express tracks. This is evidence of an express service that used to run on the line. Fun fact: The original line used to connect to the Lexington Avenue Elevated (Not to be confused with the Lexington Avenue Line), and the 5th Avenue Elevated in Brooklyn.
Sad to see that the W didn't turn up :( - you were so close! Here's a route that I suggest, which may be more successful - plus, it gives you a second chance to catch the W if it doesn't show up: 1) Start on the W at Prospect Av at 7:28 AM north towards Queens. Take it one stop. 2) Assuming that train exists, it gets you to 4 Av - 9 St at 7:30. 3) Hop on the regular F at 7:38, which gets you to 7 Av at 7:39 4) From there, you can hop on the 2nd , which should arrive at 7:53 AM. (Arrives at Jay St at 7:58) 5) Take the A to Hoyt Schermerhorn 6) Then take the G to Broadway. 7) Walk to Lorimer, and take the J 2 stops. / The last Z gets to Myrtle - Broadway at 8:40, leaving you with 42 minutes to do 26 mins of travel - not the worst margins / 8) Hop on the Z to Marcy Av 9) Take the M to Myrtle - Wyckoff 10) L to Atlantic Ave 11) LIRR to Nostrand 12) C to Franklin Ave 13) S to Prospect Pk 14) Q to 7 Av 15) B to Atlantic 16) 4 to Nevins 17) 2 to Hoyt 18) 3 to Boro Hall 19) 5 to Atlantic Then, D/R wherever you want! Hopefully I didn't forget a line...
On the MTA website it shows the W train from Astoria-Ditmars to Whitehall St. It's doesn't showing it going to Atlantic or Brooklyn on the new December 2023 subway map. Maybe that is why it never came?
It’s better to reference the timetables for each line where they will have a symbol next to them indicating that it will terminate at 86th. Subway Maps won’t show that
You should really try to start with the W and you can take to 9th St, G to 7th Ave, then the and continue the route as normal. Just take whatever is after the W at Atlantic Terminal
There is also a W Train that reaches 9:28 at Atlantic. You reached Atlantic at 9:35 so you just barely missed it considering the Skip Stop mistake with the J & Z so it is also possible to get that W Train if you get the first F Express. That way, you will have 2 shots at getting the W but you just barely missed the first one this time so I think it is possible 🤷♂️
I’ve known cases where that happen where they would hold back the last rush hour special if they need it for service and not send it back for the yard. It’s happen to me before with last 2 Train in the morning to New Lots so I would definitely say you have better chances with the first one.
🚨 I would also say if you are going to keep this route, in order to avoid leaving station situation with the J & Z, take the J back one stop to Alabama and then from there, take the Z all the way to Myrtle. Both J and Z stop at Alabama so you won’t have to worry about the Shenanigans between B-Junc and Myrtle
For the J and Z service. Between Myrtle and B Junction, there are two stations to transfer from the Z to the J train. One station is Chauncey st and the other one is Gates ave. You could get of at Gates for the transfer to the J train or at Chauncey st for the J train
That doesn’t work during Rush Hours though. J runs through until Z stops covering those stops. The only stations that you can transfer between the J and Z during rush hours are Jamaica Center, Sutphin Blvd, Woodhaven Blvd (closed for construction), Crescent St, Alabama, B-Junc, Myrtle, Marcy and all the stops in Manhattan
yeah so when the Z is running, they literally alternate stops, but they do it on the SAME TRACK, which does not speed up things by a whole lot... barely at all actually. they explain this on the subway map in the best way i think they can, which is "Z rush hours, J other times." the way you, and any other Normal Person would think it worked would instead be worded as "*J*; Z rush hours." that's the real reason why everyone thinks the Z is Z tier. like it's super awful scheduling for 0 lol MTA genuinely needs to delete the Z
Right? That’s why I was confused I think. I was under the impression that skip stop trains run on the center express track. It would make a good episode to actually time the difference between skip stop local and skip stop express… if they ever start running ACTUAL express Z trains again.
If you want to catch the express for all Brooklyn trains, start at 86th street on the W train and take it to kings highway then transfer to the N back to Coney Island and catch the 7:29 AM express, the video that has diamond display, then come up with your route to catch the Z in time.
I’m pretty sure those abandoned elevated tracks (well, they used to have tracks on them) was the old Myrtle Ave. shuttle line. I believe that shuttle line was still around when you first started making videos. I believe you talked about this shuttle line in your Subway Secrets 3 video.
@@SuprToeI guess this also works too but then that would mean you would need to take it to 4 Ave-9st Street, take the regular F or G back to 7 Ave in order to catch the F Express and that also might be a close call but still possible
hey supertoe!! i’m aaron the guy you just met today at the holiday train! awesome to meet you man. you definitely made my experience way better. super happy to meet you 🥳

Suprtoe do you think the (Z) deserves to be eliminated from the system? Many transit enthusiasts stand for it because of how the skip stop service interferes with (J) service during rush hours. Like, during regular times the (J) would be making all stops, but during rush hours when the (Z) is running, the (J) skips the stops the (Z) makes, thus increasing the headways at those stations.
Can you spell rice with L can you start from 5th aveune 59th street to 14th street union Square to 8th aveune to the E train to wtc and take the A from chambers to jay street metrotech
I mean yeah. But at the same time I very much enjoy my life not requiring car ownership currently. Move outside NYC and car ownership is the only ticket to freedom. Not here.

I looked at the W timetable.
When will you retry this?
Might be next year. Already have something planned for next week.
Ooo wow
Pls do it after the holiday nostalgia ride
Fun fact: The elated portion at 12:09 could be used for the MJ/Myrtle Av El used. It is demolished in 1969 and was abandoned since then.
