    Great video. I ordered the part from Ford on April 3, 2023. Almost 2 months and still waiting for it. But, once I get it, I know it will be easy to install. 😀

    Nicely done ! Easy to follow. I just ordered one for my new F350. I had the DZ on my last truck. It was better than nothing but didn't supply much dampening. Going with the Ford part this time.

      Tap broke (bought from a big box store). Drill out the factory nut. The bolt is long enough that I was able to put a lock nut on past the factory welded nut. I'm sure there is another way, but this works.

  • @moreaudio760
    @moreaudio760 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just drill the lower bolt out with a 3/8’ drill bit and install a m8x1.50mm nylon nut on back side to install the lower shock mount bolt with ease

      Late to the game, but I've installed two of these.
      The trick is to thread the ball mount from the opposite way/nut side first to start the threads, run it all the way up and remove....then it'll start by hand from the correct side easily.
      Yes, a ratcheting closed end over the ball will make tightening it easier....you need to put the wrench on 1st since there's not enough room to put it on after you start the stud....but plenty of room to remove it after tight.
      Another thing I found is find a saw horse, table or another set of hands to just remove one cable and one side of the tailgate...use towels, Styrofoam or similar and lay the gate on the support....or just have a buddy hold it for the 1 minute to remove the bracket and install the new one...no need to completely remove the tailgate.
      I cannot believe anyone would install the aftermarket damper vs. this OEM one.

    Any tips on getting the bolt started on the underside? It is not pre-threaded and you have to cut your own threads.

    • @ironwoodoverland
      @ironwoodoverland  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I remember correctly I was able to just start it by hand and then use the box wrench to tighten it up.

      Doubtful, they are completely different body styles. You would probably need to find out if they made a similar part for trucks of that generation.

      @@ferraraleo If the part hinge part that holds the tail gate is the same or will work, I'm sure you'd be able to drill and tap the lower part of the gas strut if it doesn't line up to a hole.
