Hey I'm new here and saw this review, it's nice to see a positive, loving, Black couple on the internet. Just a mention though, y'all should check out the movie "Soaked in Bleach" it's about the death of Kurt Cobain and raises several interesting questions. Any way bout to hit the subscribe button and be out. Peace
The Guitar he is playin this video sold in auction for 6 million dollars
After the ex husband of his daughter stole it from her
There go I but for 6,000,001$
Should sell it and buy 12 LeadBelly guitars.
The sweater sold for 334,000. Bananas.
If you can prove what performance the item is from makes it more valuable.
The look he gives when he takes that deep breath at the end always gives me chills.
Same man same
Yeah that look in his eyes is like he saw the abyss waiting for him.
If you believe the story that they hadn't planned to perform this and Kurt decided they had to on the spur of the moment, and that it was about his wife, it makes it even more chilling considering a lot of us believe she had him killed.
Same dude
The look he gives is because he is about to pass out. Luckily he brings it back
When they were designing the set, Kurt asked for more candles and flowers. The set designer responded, "Like a wake?" and Kurt simply answered "Yes." About 5 months later he was found dead.
I think Kurt have up on music after this. Sources said he told everyone that this couldnt be topped. He reached his height. And like you said, he was dead 5 months mater.
@@chadwinpark8386 Or she killed him. Just saying.
@@chadwinpark8386 He told the organizers of the Unplugged show he couldn't top this song; they wanted him to do an encore and he wisely told them no for this reason. But he was breaking up the band to do other things, which is probably why Courtney had him whacked.
@@Iansco1 she had him killed.
This unplugged he was saying goodbye to us
Haunting. Heartbreaking. Bone chilling. Devastating. Beautiful.
He was a hero to me.
The guitar Kurt used in this "MTV Unplugged" performance sold at auction for 6 million dollars. Must have been a serious battle over it as it is the highest bid ever for a guitar. Bidding started at 10K. I wonder how long it took to go from 10K to 6M. The second highest guitar sold at auction? Again, a Kurt Cobain guitar. The guitar he used in the ''Smells Like Teen Spirit'' video. Sold for 4.5 million. Guitars owned by KC rank among the highest value instruments in the world.
The answer to how much his guitar went for - the one used for this performance - is $6 million.
One of my favorite artists of all time dead or alive!!! RIP Kurt.... I struggled with addiction for years.... been clean 2 years..... we do recover!!!
Yes we do. Keep going 💪I've just hit 3 years and I don't know about you but I struggled during all the lockdowns.
Be strong, bro!
This one of his final performances before his untimely murder. This has been my favorite band forever. This song... hands down my favorite.
Thank you.
He killed himself accept it.
Yeah, Courtney love, the criminal mastermind of the 1990s
He was a suicidal junkie. He killed himself.
The joking around and smiling hiding his pain, such a tragedy! Love you Kurt.
Seeing couples so compatible is inspiring.
Kurt was sick with worry about doing the 'Unplugged', Nirvana's set was so different, doing this cover of Leadbelly, and other covers by the Vasolines, Meat Puppets and David Bowie. It was unique and a real success and showcased a totally different side to them.
That whole unplugged is my favorite ever!!! I was in jr high when he killed himself, I still remember that day. They announced it over the intercom and instantly we were all in tears. That's how inspirational he was to our whole generation. R.I.P. Kurt! I'm so glad you guys did this reaction and it's nice to see his legacy living on
Believe it or dont, this song is 100 years old almost. Its a blue song and used to be "Black Girl" instead of "my girl" and it was called "black girl". Leadbelly recorded it as "In the pines" and changed it to "my girl" for the record. The song is about a murder the authorities are interrogating a black girl about. Leadbelly liked this song cause he could relate. He was put in prison for a murder he claimed he was innocent of. He learned how to play guitar in prison (which is strange cause you'd think there wouldn't be guitars in old world mississippi prisons but he had one. He played songs for the warden and the warden decided "no murderer can sing with that kinda soul" and petitioned a judge to parole him. He then went on to be one of the very first recording artists. It would be a lovely story of justice and redemption had he not killed someone else and went back to prison. The circumstances were the same just there was more witnesses and evidence. Its unfortunate really. He was really the first bluesman to take the genre to the masses. Its unforgivable to murder and its really too bad he had that on him. Anyways, Kurt loved leadbelly and he even recorded a couple blues songs when he got into him. I think one was called "grey goose" and "clean up before she comes" and "aint it a shame". "Where did you sleep last night" was the best though
grey goose was only instrumental as the vocals hadn't been recorded, it would've been great if we had them
We’re all losing ourselves and being held by others expectations unfortunately 😢
We all felt one with him. That's why the loss was so painful and why we still love and miss him!
The very guitar he’s holding broke the world record for most a guitar was ever sold at 10 million ish dollars.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. Thank you for reacting to these songs. I have always loved Nirvana, and especially this song. It gives me goosebumps every single time. I heard you talking about putting on the “brave” face in your addiction. Yes, I was the same. We have to put on the brave face so nobody will see our pain! Kurt RIP
I was in my second year of college at Ohio State when Nirvana dropped. It was unreal. We were just like who IS this guy?? Legend.
I never realized that Kurt played a right handed guitar upside down, the same as Jimi Hendrix. 😎🤔
RIP Leadbelly and Kurt Cobain. Everyone should give Leadbelly a listen, he's a legend of legends.
You said it bro......NOBODY can scream like Kurt. Nobody.
brokenseatbelt... I gotta beg to differ re; "the scream"... you never hear of Frank Black of the Pixies? His scream took paint off walls and took windows out..he was doing it a long time before Cobain., who cited pixies as a major influence
Too bad we never got too see a Nirvana and Alice in Chains collaboration..that would have been intense
Indeed!
@tomasz stfu
@Brad Viviviyal whoa how old on a minute I don't like the new singer but layne staley was mad genius and don't act like kurt cobain was a sober saint we know how he died
@Brad Viviviyal layne and Kurt were both geniuses and amazing at their craft
Brad Viviviyal no. I like Nirvana better, but you can’t deny the sheer talent of Layne’s voice
I really appreciate your reaction to nirvana! This entire unplugged set was awesome...I love your reactions and would love it if you could do "plateau" as well .
Saw "THANKS NIRVANA NOW I'M IN TROUBLE" and went "... yep, Where Did You Sleep Last Night" 🤣
He's cool because people were also cool back then. People aint cool no more or got any chill. That vibe is long gone.
Todays yourh are bunch of woke lunatics
@@okirrama3587 Yea fake woke.
We all die, take it in stride!
Yeah, your comment makes me think of The Weeknd recently crying because he wasn't nominated for a Grammy. You think real artists give a f*ck about awards?
Ok boomer
The drummer is the lead singer of Foo Fighers now
Yup Dave Groehl
and a great guy!! check out his drum battles with a 9 year old Nandi!! so good.. they made a song for her
@@luciferluci4570 oh I know, I saw both of them. He wrote a song for her, how awesome is that
He's not just the lead singer or the drummer.
He's the whole band.
For their debut CD, he was literally the only recording artist. Wrote and recorded all of it himself.
Dave grohl, he’s amazing artist
I was in my early 20's when Nirvana was big. They were one of my favorite bands. Their unplugged concert is by far my favorite. Go down that rabbit hole. You will not be sorry.
I love the rocker in Jai lol
Takes me back to high school 😩 love the unplugged album thank you guys
Kurt was a life changing guy.. I was around 13 years old. He changed my life the first time i heared him.
This is my favourite Nirvana performance EVER! I was so pleased when 'Nirvana Unplugged' was released as an album. This is IMO the best song on there, even though it was a cover - Kurt's voice & charisma took it to a whole new level - the way he looked up at 8:04 - haunting. Kurt was a gentle but troubled soul who hated fame.....what a wonderful legacy he left us........I wish he'd got to see his daughter grow up. R.I.P. Kurt Cobain 💔
My favourite quote about kurt is when Dave growl said that he would never pose or put on a voice, he was 100% real on stage as he was off stage
“Be kind, for whoever you met is fighting their own battles “
-Plato
Words so simple yet so true. If only everyone could keep this in mind. 💯💕
When we knew this time Kurt was gone & not coming back due to Kurt’s pause, eyes closed, deep breath out, eyes opened, goodbye....🥺
Every Nirvana fan had this discussion the next day at school, some us were even crying....😥
Queen’s “These Are the Days of Our Lives” & Nirvana’s “Where Did You Sleep Last Night” from MTV’s Unplugged, are the first two times I have seen someone saying bye forever....👋
thank yall for listening to about anything out there. music can't save us but it's the bandaid we need at times. we gotta make that difference, to connect, to move forward in a positive way.
This song raises the hair on my neck
I just found the dynamic duo Half and Jai I have been checking out a number of reactions you two are fantastic and fun and you can see you are truly best friends you did Nirvana So Proud they changed the game it went from hair metal which was fun to Nirvana in the blink of an eye I never heard anything like it just regular guys bringing heat passion pain everything we are lucky that you are Nirvana fans Jai you wear the Nirvana shirt so well thanks guys
Black, white, brown, or red. I’m just so glad good music is respected across the board. I bought this CD when I was 13, and Nirvana shaped my life, they were such good musicians
This song is by Lead belly in the 40's it's called "In the pines"
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Pines
is this info true?It said the authorship is unknown for the 2 song which it originated from
@@yen6170 Lead Belly wrote the song. Idk why someone would put it's originator is unknown. It's been known for years in music history
Jesse G lead belly was a folk musician, he played folk songs. sure he wrote songs as well, usually the topical ones. but this one was a folk song and there are versions twenty years before his. they probably didnt write it either. very common.
@@melvinwren I learned today. Yay. Lol
@@jesseg94 lead belly did NOT write the song. In The Pines is an old folk song that originated in the late 19th century and no one knows who the original source was. Lead belly covered it like everyone else since then.
This song is a rendition of Kurt's favorite folk singer "Lead Belly". Lead Belly was an African American folk singer. The original song featured "black girl" as the main chorus. FYI
I put my headphones on for this one. Arguably the best Unplugged performance of all time.
His guitar ironically sold for6 million at auction. I believe the Goodwill sweater was 60,000
His voice is and probably will always be haunting in this song
YASSS!! Jai i feel it too!! i have always LOVED this performance!! great reaction video as always , i love your channel you guys are my fav 💜
“Put on that brave face...”. So well said. Thanks for sharing what you did about addiction and or mental illness, it hit me. Best reactions out there and you both just seem like such cool honest people. Much success
i'm so happy when I see black Brothers enjoying Nirvana...I remember as a kid, I was the only black kid listening to Nirvana, Alice on Chains or bands like Kyuss in the neighborhood...time has changed !
I’m 50, the most influential albums for me were Back in Black by AC/DC in 1980 (first album I bought), Appetite for Destruction by Guns’N’Roses in 1987 and Nevermind by Nirvana in 1991
The original was done by THE old blues artist 'Leadbelly', and was entitled "In the Pines" or "Black Girl", depending on your source. Many ppl have done 'their' versions of this song, and this is Nirvana's adaptation.
LOVED THE VIDEO AND YOUR RESPONSE!!! His life ended way too soon. RIP Kurt‼🙏
That whole unplugged in a sense was his funeral his goodbye
This song tells u alot about Kurt! Makes me shiver up or tear up alot...Voted one of the best live performances ever..! Love ya Kurt!
This ole white boy from Tennessee loves y'all! My favorite performer of all time. 30 years young, my dad showed me them when I was a kid. They've been my absolute favorite for almost 20 years. Love seeing y'alls respect his talent.
He was the last rock star! Nuff said - great great job- bless you both!
The greatest live song ever played. His soul can be felt in that last solo, he left a mark on so many, and will always be missed
Ya'll had me at Nirvana. Hi guys from New Orleans. Been watching for a little bit, subscribed just now.
Hello to France. You are the best. Peace and respect.. Rest in peace Kurt....come as you are my friend.... ✌️🙏
Unplugged Nirvana come as you are ✌👍
Growing up in the heart of Seattle in the 90’s was a gift. It’s hard to believe one of the greatest artists of today sits in the back on drums!
Mental health is difficult for everyone to understand. I'm still with my wife after 21 years of ups and downs..😀 ♥
This very guitar of Kurt’s went for 6 million dollars and was sold at auction to Peter freedman. And holds an outstanding world record for most expensive guitar ever sold.
The greatest concert I’ve ever seen.
Definitely check out "The Man Who Sold The World" and "All Apologies" at this same performance, it's amazing!
Just see his eyes, and you will see the pain.
The green cardigan that he is wearing sold for $300,000 at auction last year
Jai was appreciating this performance.
"Ya girl Wendy" lolol
YES.. the 80's/90's, good times to be alive..
Lake of Fire is my fav from this, but the whole Unplugged show is worth a listen
Good vibes baby good vibes baby prrrrap 💥💥💥💥🙌🙌🙌
So talented. RIP Kurt
This whole Unplugged show is excellent.
I would recommend watching the whole unplugged concert, 14yr old me was hooked
LOVE HIS VOICE AND PASSION WHEN HE SINGS ❣
The original song was sung in 1944 by Lead Belly.
Thank you!! Them knuckles looked ready, she better like your answer😂😂
Keep it comin, 50k right around the corner!!🙏🙏
Kurt passed not too far after. They were game changers. RIP Kurt, never forgotten.
So much love to Kurt, Rest In Peace
It's worth noting that was a closed MTV set, so it's not like he had to worry about the people who were there; they'd already been vetted for TV
Ironically the guitar he is playing in this video just sold last year for millions. I'm not sure the exact amount but it was in the millions.
wow they sounded awesome live!
He didn't cut loose near the end, he was holding back for the majority of it haha
It's sad but true! His death/murder was NEVER INVESTIGATED!!!?????? He is a LEGEND & I look forward to meeting him in heaven!!!
i like that you observed the autograph signing
Nirvana has Leadbelly and Gap band DNA, also some Beatles melody with punk rock 🎸
His vest sold for 335 000$ at auction last year and his guitar sold for 6 million dollars a few months ago🤓
Lol..funny you guys should mention "I wonder what HIS guitar would sell for?"....cuz it was sold y'all ....last year...for $6M.USD 😳 ... BTW that makes it THE most expensive guitar in history...(seriously) ...Peace ✌️😆
And the sweater hes wearing too
Nirvana the best...
THis was the legendary highlight of the Unplugged series at the time. Eric Clapton show was also incredible.
I remember when Kurt died, I was numb for days, such a tragic loss
Back in the days when music had a soul and people had some brains
The final gaze gets me every time. 😪
You guys are too much fun and a lovely couple!
My fave of his 🌺
The guitar he used in that show just sold for over 6 million wrap your melon around that one crazy
Kurt had the deepest respect for Leadbelly. This says a ton about him. Especially at this time in America. We need more Kurt Cobains🙏
I just want to let you know. I love you two
Such a great performance that everyone watches him leave! Everyone!
We lost him to his inner demons. So sad. What a talent.
I love you guys, one Love
Whats up fam yall just made my day that much better i really like this song it's a cover of a old blues song by a singer named lead belly and it hits different when you think bout the fact that this is one of the last live performances that they did before kurt committed suicide by shoiting2 himself in the head i think it was five months after this performance if im not mistaking especially the part at the end when he did that last screaming high note and opened his eyes and breathed he looked like he had a thought like whatever he was thinking was clear to him and he looked like he was in pain hurt and tired and not just physically tired but emotionally mentally and whatever other way you can think of like jai said in one of y'all other reactions when people say they're tired well he looked like he was just tired great song fire reaction like always R.I.P Kurt Cobain🙏🎶🔥
You guys are AWESOME!!!! Love yalls videos!!!!!
I was way into Nirvana in the 90s, and I regularly think of the liner notes (remember those?) on Insecticide: “If any of you in any way hate homosexuals, people of different color, or women, please do this one favor for us - leave us the f--- alone! Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records.” That was radical to me then, and I guess it still is.
