With each step, I feel like we're getting closer to a big CB twin and I'm all here for it. I'd love a 750 retro style bike with the NC engine and frunk.

You'll see Nighthawk 750s and 650s within this decade. Some of the Japan builders have dabbled in 70s Triumph/CB standards shape, but it seems the India companies are more sucessful at 70s: Triumph/RE/Honda India as there is a much bigger market there for the c1975 bike..
I'd have a guess that 80s styling will be their niche. This is an 80s retro of the Honda track inspired street that started that design line.

Since Honda is days away from revealing the new 750 Transalp then you can rest assured that same 750twin platform WILL be used tor the type model you have in mind ...maybe for 2024....Take Yamaha's CP2 700 platform they derive several models using the same motor including Tenere 700 ADV, the MT07, the Tracer7gt and dont foget the R7 sportbike! ....(probably a cruiser too for all I know....maybe even an XRS 700 retro? I also dont know?)

This bike's price will probably be closer to the Rebel's (10k) than the Africa Twin's. The AT has a lot more equipment and beefier suspensions and such, this will be a more simple street bike. It doesn't really have performance cred to charge $14k.

I was excited when I heard about his new honda being developed. Now after seeing it I still want to like it but the lines and shapes do not flow. I think it has some good design elements but the front and rear look like two different bike designs. The exhaust doesn’t do anything to compliment any lines of the bike. While I prefer the sound of twins I’d rather buy the cb1000r as it’s design is so much better.

That engine is in an adventure bike, a cruiser, a touring bike & soon a sport bike. If they put it in a standard style road bike like the Honda Hornet 919 I'd take a look.

Personal thought but I've always liked the older more round shaped sport bikes from the early 2000's over the new aggressive and angular bikes of today. Don't know if it's considered "retro" but whatever it is I approve.

I agree about its appearance. Nice looking machine. I don't care for the mirror placement. But then, this is not my class of bike, so idc anymore so than that. lol I like the name, but then, it is a strong reminder to me of when I owned the 450 NightHawk. What a fantastic machine that was. Balanced, power band was great, comfortable and great curb appeal.

Love this bike, looks great. Also yes to the DCT, in fact I would like to see more DCT across the whole brand. My left hand is busted after a work accident, clutching in traffic is a pain for me. I get cramps and spasms when I hold or use the clutch for too long. I don't necessarily need a large displacement bike, that's why I think it would be great to see this transmission on smaller cc bikes in the future.

Sadly the reason not to expect a higher power version of this engine (which obviously Honda could very easily provide) is that manufacturers spend quite a lot getting a PLATFORM all certified for environmental rules so a niche version of a platform would not have the sales potential to warrant a seperate expensive version DANG IT! This bike would likely be so awesome with say 130hp or so! Which is totally doable with this displacement as evidenced in other brands

Cool bike. Honda is always willing to make something interesting, and if they can keep the price right I suspect this will sell like hotcakes. It's got a little Ducati Sport Classic upfront, nice engine, Honda reliability, what's not to love? As a rider of a HEAVY bike (K1200LT) I can tell you that heavy doesn't mean it won't take a curve. You just need a bit more faith in that itty bitty contact patch.

I own an '88 blue Honda Hawk GT (NT 650) and I like to stare at it in my garage when I'm not riding it.
One thing the Hawk GT is over the Hawk 11 is that it weighs under 400 pounds, although it lacks the horse power of the Eleven. It also has a single sided swing arm. If I'm paying over $14000 for Honda Hawk, I would at least insist on a single sided swing arm. As it is the closest new bike on the market today that resembles the Hawk GT is the Suzuki SV-650, and I would consider buying a new one of these. It wouldn't be my first SV.

Very cool bike guys! I would think a USA version should be coming here. Or something with that motor.
I think over the years the Japanese motorcycle manufacture’s have been very good to us here in the states! After all, in Japan, cc limits, automatic transmission only and strict licensing regulations make it difficult for them to even ride the cool bikes we get here. 650cc I think is the limit. Back in the day we even saw some of the coolest inline four 400cc sport bikes come here. The development of some of those bikes were incredible. At that time 400cc’s was the limit in Japan. (1990’s)

  •  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

mismatch of lines and parts. Looks like someone took the AT and made a customisation... The weirdest thing is this is coming from the cb4 interceptor concept and has broken it... That fairing should be added to the CB1100 Neo retro... no here on this frankenModel.

Yamaha and Kawasaki have both made some nice retro inspired bikes. And Honda’s answer was dusting off plans from 1980 and giving us the reimagined CB1100. Honda’s not listening. It’s sad that all the manufacturers are each just using the same motor in multiple platforms and claiming a “new model.”
I’m sure this 1100cc twin is a fine motor, and I know they tune them differently for different applications, but it’s still boring and takes the excitement out of the industry.
For me, the motor is a big part of a bike’s soul. I don’t want to roll up next to a Rebel, an Africa Twin, and a NT1100 when they all have the same motor.

    • @Mudmoto_Marine
      @Mudmoto_Marine 2 ปีที่แล้ว

It's a move from the car industry, and actually can work out quite well if done correctly. Engine R&D can costs hundreds of millions of dollars, and motorcycles, especially in the US, don't sell enough to justify giving each bike its own engine. They're not just developing the engine, but also the manufacturing processes to mass produce it as well, so it only makes sense to try and use the same engine in as many different things as possible.
Personally I think the CB1000r motor would make much more sense in this platform, and the 1100 twin would probably work out better in a middleweight naked bike, especially if they could get it under 480lbs, though I guess the 650r is more their entry there.

Agree, this is overall a swing and a miss by Honda which is ironic considering they had their own bike to emulate. All they had to do is take a classic design and add minor design updates. The exhaust on this one is completely out of place, and I don't like all the sharp angles. And what's with the oddity of a front-fairing? I just saw an '88 Hawk recently, and compared to that, this bike just doesn't do it.

  • @saddle8bag

Much as this is outright theft of Triumph's design, I think I'd prefer this as the twin and a little road holding weight would probably make it a far better street bike.

@@samus4799 that's so weird. The Rebel 1100 is 487lbs, which is still alot, but I guess they brought over too much from the Africa Twin

@@Mudmoto_Marine Yeah, the frame from what i understand. In all seriousness an adventure bike has no business being that heavy either.

The Hawk 11 looks like an NC750 humped an 80’s prototype bike that was the idea of what future bikes would look like. I love cafe racers and cafe styling, but this ain’t it.

Not retro enough. Need's to look like an old 70s Honda CB.

Lets hope Honda decides to bring the model to the west.. Seems lately Honda have become increasingly boring.. The hawk looks the goods, even a little character there! Come on Honda, step up and start producing bikes with style and character again!

Honda should get rid of the marketing department.
There not bring the NT1100, but the Hawk11.
