What a terrific way to rescue a rather sad looking hat. Kudos to you, Ilona.

Love the feather and adore the lining. Of course, you look adorable in the hat.

It suited you, even though you weren't a trilby fan. Great tutorial 👌

Hello Sara, thank you! I'm still not sure how much wear I will get out of this style, but I am trying to always experiment with new things 😀

I have at least a dozen hats from my Grandmothers and even a couple from my Great Grandmother. I had no idea that they could be updated.

This video is a new favourite2023! How wonderful to see how to refurbish an old hat -- I have a box full that I might actually wear after some tender loving renovation.
(I also want to mention that one thing I love about your videos is that while watching your hands work their magic, we get to see all your gorgeous fingernail designs! It's that kind of attention to detail throughout that makes your videos so exquisite.)
("This kind of gathered lining looks rather like a cat's bottom." 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣)

I loved the lining and thought it matched the hat perfectly. It one of my favorites that she's made and looks great on her.

Love this video - and the flower in your hair. I love all the flowers on your website... can we have a video on how to wear flowers in hair; and do you ship abroad???? 🎉🎩

I love this. I have a little collection of thrifted hats that need some love to make them look vintage. This gives me confidence to just try! Now you need a 30s suit to complete the lady journalist look! ❤

I know! It's always just chance! I saw it in the corner of a charity shop window and new I had to purchase it - it was only £2.99!

That would be my favorite part of the book too. Im always looking for a hat that needs a makeover. Just clean it, fix any bad wrinkles, and redecorate. Is this a new book ??? Great tutorial

Hello Dianne, Re-working old hats to make them wearable is so great! Yes, it is a new book, it was published in may 2022. I've got the full publication details in the description box 😊

@@ByIlonaMillinery Thanks Ilona, guess I should have read the description box. I really enjoy your videos. You are a "fresh face" of hat making. I almost had another stroke watching you cut that hat up. Good hats are so hard to find here in the USA. Supplies are another thing. The good quality feathers and ribbon is (I feel) almost a thing of the past. I hoarded it for years and now I can't replace it. Hope you continue to put up videos. 🙂🙂🙂

Hi Dianne, Thank you so much! 😊 Oh no! sometimes I feel the same about cutting into fabrics and hat materials - but I didn't want to be too precious over this one 😅 I am already working on my video for next week - it's a really special one, and I am so excited about it! 🎉

Can sisal straw hats only be shaped by cutting off part of the crown?

  • @deborahduthie4519

It suits you. ✅. Not everyone suits that shade of green. Is your join on the outer band, on the left or right side of your head? Not a criticism but your Trilby looks left sided in the video.?
Would you please make a video on how to correct a creased hat brim. My hat’s brim keeps losing form. Thankyou Ilona.🤠🇦🇺💚
