Thanks for taking the time to do this video. I own 2 of them, one for backup and daily lighter thread stitching, the other for heavier 277 thread. I completely agree their tensioning can be a lot like black magic once it gets out of adjustment. My spool thread wrapped around the spool base like you cautioned. Naturally i started twisting tension nuts wondering what was holding the thread back. Like you said best thing to do is go back to factory specs and make minor adjustments from there. I just ordered some of the spool netting. Great suggestion. Also, dull needle can drive you crazy wondering why the shuttle bobbin wont grab the down thread. Thats another way to get you confused about there being a tension problem. Great video, many thanks.
I actually very much prefer to use a size 346 POLYESTER with a dry corse feel. BUT it is hard to find in the colors that the type of projects I still use the Boss for require. So, I ended up switching to Bonded Nylon size 277. This is smoother and slides thru the tension plate of the bobbin much easier so some adjustments of top tension will be needed. Try not to adjust the bobbin tension much if you can avoid it. You may find no issues till you hit a certain project with a certain thickness or firmness of leather that suddenly dictates the tension adjustment.

For the Tippmann Boss, what thread (size, brand and/or type) have you personally found that works best and given you the least troubles?
Ah! See my other comment plus a short video coming to the channel specifically answering this question. Thanks!
