Fascinating footage - a real shame that so many cities did away with their tram networks. Thought this was going to be a cat free edition so good to see they got a mention! I remember the Loughborough Junction deaths around 3 years ago
Pat in Thai railway heaven. His enthusiasm is infectious. Everyone into choo choos will luv this. Pat reveals his childhood as a graffiti artist and being electrocuted for his stupidity. He barely felt it. That might explain a lot Pat.
Michael Portillo eat your heart out ! 🤣 and not a Bradshaw's guidebook in sight ! 🤣🤣 PS when i was a kid in the 80's we had the red rattlers here in Sydney, doors didn't close ! Unthinkable these days . 🤣
Such a cool place would love to visit the Train Factory and look at the older engines. When I was young I would ride on the old New Haven Railroad outside of New York city and was often fascinated by the many types of trains. As young as ten years old would often take the train alone to the nearest city nearby for fifty cents and wander. Likely where I found my roots for traveling and by age thirteen I flew across America by myself and settled in Washington state. Getting ready for yet another long train trip in about a week . Guessing I have likely traveled more on the trains in Thailand than any foreigner over the last twenty some years. Another great show Pat.
Awesome video Bangkok Pat,I could really see the smile all over your face, trains make older guys (like me) become like a young toddler again, travelling in time…
Great vblog and love your tee shirt. When I lived in Islington for over 22 years , I often used Crouch Hill station. Finsbury Pk was my local tube station too.
Nice one Pat. Birmingham used to have great stations, when each railway company had its own station. Then some bright spark designed New St lol. They are incorporating the original Curzon St into the new HS2 station I think. I see there's a Parkland Walk in your old childhood haunts, that uses an old abandoned line. I never noticed it when I was a student down there, but then maybe it was full of crack dealers then? Will there continue to be a train from Don Muang airport to Hua Langphong Station, if you're saying the commuter routes may remain?
The Parkland Walk covered an old line that closed in the 60s, and is probably not a safe place in general particularly at night. Commuter trains will definitely call at Don Muang from Hua Lamphong.
Great Viewing Pat. A trillion years ago, I was a shunter / guard, at times the driver would let us drive the shunt loco in the yard. Great fun. You find some super content 👍👏👏
Good video. I miss the old sleeper train vibe, with their restaurant/party carriages. Nowadays the CP food and soft drinks doesn't really have the same appeal. At least the views are the same. Sunsets and sunrises inThailand from a train window should not to be missed.
Wow. So much of this resonates. I was a similar train buff as a young un and in later years had to try and chase off graffiti gangs as a supervisor on the tube. Right up there with your best work. Thanks as ever. I will pray the factory opens again for Goodebumps 2023 as I’d booked a night cruise on the Chao Phraya this year.
Wonderful news about Hualamphong, Pat. I'm more a fan of the 3rd class commuter trains amyway. You do fine work here, mate. Cathedrals such as this are meant to be admired.
Great tour of Makkasan. Thanks. Finally I am coming back to Bangkok after more than 2 years absence. I got my 6 month METV and just have to get my Thai Pass then heading back later in June. I missed Bangkok so much. Your videos repeatedly kicked nostalgia back into my consciousness many times.
G'Day pat , wow a train fetish lol , I think many of us love seeing these old trains as they do bring back many memories from yesteryear !! I too would love for this to become an annual event , seeing the old girls being brought back to their former glory, a testament of how they helped develop the country through the years, Catchya...

Bangkok Pat on the Vinegar Stroke in Bangkok could've been the title haha. I do like trains but I love history and old stuff in general; I even started collecting records again (I used to DJ too). I was hoping to see the train graveyard but maybe one day.... King Robbo RIP
Hi Pat, in your video you mentioned that the long distance trains would continue to leave from Hua Lamphong till September/October. I'm planning a trip on the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai in September and would love to leave from Hua Lamphong one last time. Is there somewhere where I could find information on the date when that ends? PS. I'm sure you noticed the sad passing of Fletch from Depeche Mode during the week.
Long time follower first time commenter.... great video about graff history and trains, my two loves of life as well, I grew up in Melbourne during the 80s the quintessential era of graf, so always keen to hear stories from that era, I am interested to know more about Makkasan train station, are these locos always on display, mega keen to check it out. Keep up this great channel, I often share your videos to friends and family back home, and where did you get that rad BTS T-shirt i want one
I searched for some railroad stuff in Bkk , but got balled out by the girlfriend I had at the time ! Awesome and thanks ! we call the big fans FOAMERS here !
@@ivanovichinus Thanks, that's Don Muang stationwith the remains of the unfinished Hopewell structures in the background. The SRT Red Line has now plunged all of that into shade now!

I caught the train a couple of months ago from Hua Hin to Hua Lamphong Because I thought the Station was about to close. 42 Baht One way to Bangkok 6 hours 🥴🥴🥴 it was great👍👍👍👍 (I sure hope they don’t close The Pretty station in HH when the new one opens🙏🙏)
Nice job Pat ! I also heard about the Spiritual Festival last week but I missed that , too bad ! By the way, have you ever heard about there's a famous ghost hotel (4 Stars) at Makasaan ?
Hi Pat , love your vids .. The train that goes to Kanchanaburi on week days from Thonburi..i know of but do u know of a special train that goes there on Saturday from Hua Lamphong Station.. Ive heard about it but cannot seem to find a timetable about the Saturday trip .. Do u have any info on this ???
Right up my street this one, or should i say rail line! So you were one of those that scarred our unpainted aliminium Underground trains were you?.... I used to be a tube guard & driver, you were lucky to live after stepping on the juice rail and earthing youself with a train! Quite a few graffetti vandals killed themselves, either by getting in the way of a train (they are very unforgiving...) or tripping and landing on the juice rail. One supervisor told me human flesh burning smells just like roast pork! Not a nice way to go..... Looking at the venue, i can't imagine something quite like it happening here in the UK, the health & safety brigade will have palpatations for hours just watching this upload......
I only remembered it was on that morning! When I was feeling tingly in my hand, I could feel it getting stronger and my hand was sticking, if I'd not jumped away I would have no doubt got a blast.
No, it used to be where they manufactured trains. There's not an official museum there as it's not open to the public. That display area and lighting was created for the exhibition
If you're interested in UK retro bus and train footage then check out the Soi Buakao channel: th-cam.com/channels/wsWpJz29OHl2O8Rw0-E9bA.html
Thanks Pat. That channel is already bringing back memories of the nightmare comuteing to the west end in the 1980s !
Hello Sir, is this place open for public or students who want to visit and look around?
The electric shock was how Pat gained his superpower of always looking sharp in a very hot climate.
I have a sweat filter setting on the camera Simon.

Nice place. I saw it every day from my balcony. I wish I would go there and make alot of photos. I love these old, rusty trains.
They made the place look lovely for the festival, don't know when they'll open it again to the public though.
