✅ SIRIRAJ Thonburi | UNEXPLORED BANGKOK | Across The Chao Phraya River | Railways | Markets |

  • Siriraj Hospital area in Thonburi is an area that's changing. Bangkok changes all the time with redevlopment. I take a walk through the local streets, along the railway tracks through the local communities to see an area that is changing. The railway history, the old terminus at Thonburi, Bangkok Noi canal, markets, the old wooden houses and I also conquer my fear of heights (almost) Plus a quick chat about weed.

Bangkok Pat is the best thing to happen to TH-cam in Thailand · no BS · always interesting and fact based. TH-cam on Thailand is in the main full of clickbait · numpties churning out worthless content.... Never happens with Bangkok Pat who is the best Bangkok vlogger by a country mile!

Nice one, Pat. The SRT has five working steam locomotives. Number 850 was manufactured in Japan by Nippon Sharyo in 1950. The wheel arrangement is 4-6-2 which makes it known as a Pacific. It is partnered by number 824, made in 1949, for the special excursions on royal anniversaries, also on an SRT anniversary.

Many a time I took our boys to wander around Thonburi Steam Shed, the epicentre of preserved steam in Thailand. It used to have open days, once we were lucky to see the 2-8-2 No. 953 in action. The other two are a pair of 2-6-0 moguls 713 and 715. Fun fact, 824 and 850 are coupled back-to-back as there are no longer any turntables.

Great stuff again Pat. I did the rail trip from Thonburi to the nearest station to my home - in Sai Yok, Kanchanaburi in January this year. Seemed like a bargain at 100 baht for a foreigner but that is arguable 555. As only 3rd class (fans, only , no aircon) was available I probably won't attempt that rail journey again until the end of the year.

A very nice episode . . . thank you, Pat! I love trains, cats, and even a bit of pot.I live in Washinton State, USA. We've had medical marijuana since 1998 and recreational pot since 2012. It has been anticlimactic and nice. We've stopped locking up a lot of people. I indulge once or twice a month. It is fun to shop and not worry. I hope Thailand gets over the media exploitation and the jitters. I used to enjoy very rare "Thai Stick" in the 60s.

Golden triangle comes to mind although related to opium it reflects Thailand's vicinity to other countries and their policies. Thailand being the first country in Asia to allow Cannabis will obviously effect it's neighbors. Although videos are coming out from others, you would do it right. I didn't know about this SRT line Pat, i thought all main line services went north from Hua Lampong. I know of the 2 separate lines you take to get to the Mae Klong Market, is this one a self contained system? Or does it connect to the other main lines? Looks interesting especially as it has loco hauled passenger trains and a bit of freight, well worth a nosey if it's still in operation when i finally get back!

The SRT Light Red Line currently runs from Bang Sue Grand Station to Taling Chan, it started last August. If you send me an email I'll send you the maps of future lines.

Very informative video. Great stills. (What's the term for a stationary, static 5 second video?)
    Cheers.

Nick I don't believe there is a term but some video shots where there is no wind whatsoever look just like photos....

Never been tempted to do anything in Bangkok, I only ever tagged, was crap at the art side of it. Did write my tag on the wall of fame in the Bangkok Graff shop in Siam

I can try Joel, but I have a list to keep me going at the moment. Maybe I can put it into a video with other nearby areas.
