This Masquerade by George Benson, that's the one you need to hear next!
Amen to that Magneto7930! That’s my favorite George Benson song. 👍👍
I agree 👍
I love his (the original version of) The Greatest Love of All, the orchestration, wow, plus a great message.
His 'Nature Boy' is great too, has a type of Brazilian beat feel. .
Song written by Bill Champlin and Steve Lukather. Song win Grammy 1983 category the best Soul song
YES!
George Benson, Peabo Bryson, Jeffrey Osborne and James Ingram were all powerhouse male vocalists from the 70s/80s and they don’t often get the love they deserve.
REMINDS ME OF THE 1970s
Don't forget Teddy, Luther and Freddie Jackson
@@lanceflx63 Luther definitely gets the love in my opinion. Teddy and Freddie on the other hand are unfortunately often forgotten when considering the great vocalists of the era.
@@lanceflx63 And Donny Hathaway.
James Ingram melts my heart.
George Benson's "On Broadway" absolutely epic. The live version is some of the best Jazz guitar ever heard. Benson is if not the best, one of a handful of the best Jazz guitar players in history. A must listen.
Prominently featured in the opening scene of “All That Jazz”.
I've been listening to that live album since the year it came out. Never get tired of it.
I truly agree the live version of George Benson’s “On Broadway” is must.
Yes! On Broadway gets you movin'! Great song!
Not to mention it's used as the song of the opening scene of pn eo fthe best musical movies... "All That Jazz!"
George Benson is one of the very few musicians that has had "two" successful music careers: 1) R&B/Pop singer.........2) Traditional Jazz guitar Living Legend! George Benson's jazz guitar playing has influenced generations of aspiring guitar players around the world for decades! Simply put, George Benson is at 81 years of age a "national treasure". 🎸
This song is a classic
"Give me the Night" is awesome too
I think they did that one, the video where he's roller skating
Indeed it is!
Ever since "Breezin" I have been a big fan of George Benson.
Ah, one of those songs you just always know and love when you hear it, even if you can't always remember the name! 😄
Breezin and on Broadway are my favs.
A record I made sure to pick up when I started collecting records several years ago.
It's rare to find a guitar virtuoso who sings better than most stand alone vocalists. Just tons of talent with this legend.
Yeah, George was definitely uber talented.
@@paulkane7771 When Warner Brothers Records signed him in 1975, they could not believe that here, you have a guitar virtuoso who is marquee-star handsome, that no other label bothered to try to exploit his INCREDIBLE VOICE!! With that label, GB had a 10 year run of platinum albums and hit singles.
George Benson is the man!!!! Love this song!!!!
What you guys may not realize yet is that GB is also one of the greatest straight-ahead jazz guitarists of all time. He can play bebop with the best of them.
Luther Vandross - Never Too Much is another great song in this genre.
I don’t think I’ve heard any reactors react to Luther Vandross. He is one of the best crooners of the modern era
@@mildredpierce4506
They reacted to one, maybe two of his songs a long time ago.
I love that song so much!😍😍😍
This Masquerade is my favorite song from George Benson ❤🔥
I clicked "like" before I even heard the song, love George Benson!
The video for Give Me The Night" is fire. George does the entire video on rollerskates, no stunt double. He is a great rollerskater, and plays guitar while skating. A must see.
Jay & Amber, you'll love his "On Broadway" and "This Masquerade"!!!
Yeah, these are both banner tunes of his!
He wasn’t hired on Quincy jones label as a singer but a guitarist. But he was jamming on this masquerade and sang it and he suddenly became a singer too. So glad he did cuz he has a very unique and smoother voice. My fav song by him wasn’t a top ten hit but a duet called Late at Night with Vickie Randle who also has an amazing voice. Other George benson hits: In Your Eyes, Nothings Gonna Change My Love for You, Give Me the Night
This!!!
Amazing guitarist. I will add Breezin' to the list. It's a great album too. Love his jazz tunes. Never got into his pop stuff.
@@KenRoerden Absolutely! Breezin' is one of my all-time favorite tunes (I could listen to it on loop!), but since it was an instrumental, I was hesitant to mention it.
Why can't we go back in a time machine to this kind of music it's just not the same anymore
You should check out his version of This Masquerade, which to me is the quintessential version of the song. It was his first hit and won a Grammy.
LOVE this. It was produced by TOTO guitarist Steve Lukather. He won a Grammy for it the same night TOTO won an amazing 7 Grammys!
George Benson is one of the best jazz guitarists who ever played and had never intended to be a singer. But his voice is undeniable!
55 years old and I’ve loved this song ever since I heard it
We're the same age. This is my favorite George Benson song. Loved it since I was a kid.
Dance and roller skating music back in the day!
No more roller skates for me but I do a mean chair dance now 😂
His performance of this song on the TV show Solid Gold in the early 1980s is still so memorable to me. Thank you Jay & Amber for taking the time to listen to this great song. :)
This is my favorite George Benson song but I would also suggest On Broadway and Masquerade
What I love about this channel is that there are so many songs like this from my youth that I've totally forgotten about, and I watch these reactions and remember, "Oh yeah, that's a great song!"
Love this song! “Gimme the night” is my favorite of his. Great official 🛼 🛼 boogie video as well! 💖💙👍✌️
Sometimes i forget ya'll never heard these songs b4. to many of us its a flashback to younger days of , remember ......
Just seeing the title of this song was enough to make me smile. Kudos for picking this gem.
Amen.
Oh yes! We LOVED US SOME GEORGE BENSON!!
I saw George perform last year, he's almost 80 years old. He was incredible! His jazz guitar playing is brilliant, he's had loads of great hits and every girl who loved funk and soul in the 1980's adore him
For me, this is his best song, easily...and the man had an illustrious career.
Benson is one of the most complete musicians, great singer and great guitarist, composer in many sdiffrents tyles, pop, disco, jazz, funk, r&b, soul.
“Love Me Lady” is a fantastic George Benson song you guy’s should do!
It's actually "Lady Love Me" great song 🎵
George Benson with Turn Your Love Around peaked at #5 on the US Billboard Hot 100 the week of February 6, 1982. The rest of the top 10 that week:
1) Centerfold - The J. Geils Band
2) I Can't Go For That (No Can Do) - Daryl Hall & John Oates
3) Waiting For A Girl Like You - Foreigner
4) Harden My Heart - Quarterflash
5) Turn Your Love Around - George Benson
6) Leather And Lace - Stevie Nicks With Don Henley
7) Physical - Olivia Newton-John
8) The Sweetest Thing (I've Ever Known) - Juice Newton
9) Shake It Up - The Cars
10) Hooked On Classics - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
All 10 songs are AMAZING!!! I was just thinking about the Juice Newton song about 2 hours ago. 😎
That was a fantastic Top 10! Ahhh, the 80s.
What a Top 10! I love every one of those songs! Those first 6 are all in my ELITE favorite songs. I’m still shocked TYLA didn’t make it to No. 1. The quality of those songs is amazing. I was just 4 months away from high school graduation in February 1982. I’d give everything I own away if I could go back to my high school days from August 1979 to June 1982, 10th through 12th grade.
This song, and especially your reaction-- and chairdancing!-- are SOOO joyful!!! My cheeks hurt from smiling! 🥰🤗🕺💃
I had almost forgotten about this song; I have not heard this maybe since the 80s, but it brings back so many memories from high school. Thanks, Rob Squad!
Yes, it's a flute with strings, horns, piano, keyboards, background vocals, etc. Great production, great song.
George Benson- "Give Me The Night". - Get that next ...
George is legend.
"This Masquerade" is a must if you haven't already.
Remember, George is MOSTLY known for his jazzy, guitar fretwork. His vocals, some of the best in the business, is but an awesome bonus!
Love to watch you groovin' to these classics from my generation. You're so soulful and sweet!
I LOVE GEORGE BENSON!! This is one of my favorites. Saw him in concert in a great theater-style venue. Small and inviting. Loved it!!
*'Lady Love Me' & 'On Broadway'* next George Benson tracks to check out
I love his On Broadway song.
Talk about going back to a wonderful place OMG I love this song.
The next to hear by him is "Love X Love". That is quite classic indeed!!!
I Love how she can't help but let her Joy go when a banger like this one drops ... haha
Love George Benson Love Jazzy sound
So, so great!!!
Oh you just can't beat a bit of George, so smooooooth. Chair dancing on point guys 👌
1980s pop/jazzy/dance tune. This song will always uplift your spirits.
Love this reaction George Benson Masquerade is an all-time classic please do not deny yourself this musical masterpiece. if only for your listening pleasure 🎼❤️
ON BROADWAY ON BROADWAY ON BROADWAY...and once again ON BROADWAY 😀
lol I immediately knew members of Toto played on this song. Steve Lukather was co-writer even. It has Georgy Porgy feel. Love this song.
You picked a great one today! Lately it's been almost all non-hits. This was on the chart in 1981-82, and peaked at #5.
Keep the HITS coming! I'm still waiting for "Again" by Janet Jackson. 🙏
Sounds just like them 1970s
Another feel good song⭐ Thanks Amber and Jay💗
Benson kills it!!!! What a freaking killer groove!!!!
He originally sang "The Greatest Love of All" from the movie "The Greatest" featuring Muhammad Ali. Song later covered by the great Whitney Houston.
70's-80's R&B/Soul/Jazz was the best.
Song is so good…. Heard it a million times and it’s still great every time!
Right??
I can’t believe it’s been this long ago already, but 33 years ago, I saw George Benson at the South Shore Music Circus, located in southern/cape area of Massachusetts. After the show, I got to visit with him, along with about eight or nine others, in his “green room” back stage for close to two hours. It was as phenomenal as his show!! I have a picture of him with my friend and I with him as well! He is one of the nicest men around.
Wow, what a great memory to hold onto! Moments like those come once in a lifetime.
All right my babies.... Thank you for giving the people what they want ‼️🔥🔥💯😁👍🏼
OMG!!! I LUUUUUVVVV GEORGE BENSON! Thank you for this reaction! 💋
This is definitely my favorite George Benson song! This music was a little before my time, but my Dad always had great music playing in the house! We all sing, and play instruments, in my family! So grateful to have been brought up with so much musical influence! It makes my heart so happy that all of this great music is being heard by new ears!
I ❤ George Benson. Nature boy is one of my favourites!
George was a natural talent who was simply fated to fall into music. He's got some great interviews on YT. Super accomplished, yet humble and gracious.
This song means so so much to me. I danced my butt off to this song on “Teen Night” at Pogo’s during my high school days in the KC area! I LOVE this song SO MUCH!! It’s one of my top HS favorites for sure! ❤
@@DavidSmith-vb7gz Yes, sir! Overland Park, KS to be exact. Were you going to Pogos circa 1979-1982?
That is a flute offering that beautiful sweet accompaniment, I've seen George Benson live here in Sydney Australia and that is definitely a flute.
I don’t know if you guys have done it, but his song called on Broadway is awesome.
Love Ballad is another great song by Mr Benson!
You can also react to George Benson with Al Jarreau
His voice is so smooth and then shows some grit but...those horns are everything!! Has been one of my faves from back in the day!!
Love George! My favorite by him has always been Lady Love Me! I think y`all would love it!
George Benson....amazing!!! Ive seem him in concert a few times and left everyone dancing in isles....literally!!! 😊
We were all in love with George Benson. Looks, talent and his songs were so great!
Always loved George Benson, he's a smooth legend. 😎👌
This song is such a jam. _Lady Love Me (One More Time)_ and _This Masquerade_ should be next on your George Benson listening list. Thanks for this reaction; it's always a joy to see you two jamming to good music.
If you have not, I hope you check out his recent interview with Rick Beato.
🇬🇧 George Benson has it all doesn't he? The voice with a beautiful face (& personality) to match. He has some great hits. 🔥🎼🔥🎵🔥
I had to check, but one artist that I'm pretty sure you haven't reacted to yet is Al Jarreau. His version of Take Five (live in 1976) will blow your mind. Twenty years from now when you think about all the great music you heard on this channel, his vocal on that song will be one of the most memorable.
As mentioned not only a great voice but one of the greatest jazz guitarists of all time.... so much talent!
George Benson & Chaka Khan - We Got The Love / Al Jarreau - Mornin' / Manhattan Transfer - Spice Of Life / Jermaine Jackson & Michael Jackson - Tell Me I'm Not Dreamin' / Jon Hendricks, Bobby McFerrin, Al Jarreau, George Benson - Freddie Freeloader / Terence Trent D'Arby (aka Sananda) & Des'ree - Delicate / Quincy Jones feat. Tamia - You Put A Move On My Heart / The Whispers - Olivia / O'Bryan - You And I
Love X Love is another great one
Perfect song. I cannot believe that everyone has not heard this song. So good. It was played into the ground when it was released and nobody minded.
His 1976 hit "This Masquerade" was written by Leon Russell.
George Benson's Love X Love, is an uplifting song, and underscores your both tough times and bountiful present. It encapsulates your life together. It's probably his best song affirming a positive attitude and partnership. Please react to it soon.
Takes me back to my youth...A great time.
George @ his finest!
I had front row seats to see George Benson in 1978. On Broadway, This Masquerade, Breezin and so many more. What a great performer. Fantastic live show! 🎉🎉😊
George Benson….one word smooth
Looking forward to the day y’all hear his rendition of This Masquerade, it’s a true masterpiece written by Leon Russell 👍
His most amazing song is "This Masquerade". It was #1 on the R&B, Jazz, and Pop charts at the same time, the first to ever do it. The track is simply amazing and definitely one of his best. And he plays guitar on the track too. Please react to it.
FINALLY. I've been waiting years for them to do this song. A killer hit from 1981.
Yes, absolutely in love with him, Amber! In either 1984 or 1985, I saw a then up-and-coming Kenny G open up for George in Los Angeles. He was amazing! I love when he scats with his guitar!
I absolutely L-O-V-E to watch Amber get into a song. Her precious smile and that awesome stank face she sneaks in every now and then and nobody sways like her. You're such a gorgeous person! Love you guys!
Loved this song since i was a child, along with Give Me The Night. Never Give Up On A Good Thing is a dancy, happy song you should check out.
I absolutely adore this song
Reminds me of dancing at the club. Thanks for the memory. Great reaction.💜
I still listen to George. His album "Give me the Night" is one of my favorites. I've worn out 2 cassettes of it and now have the CD. Every song on it is really good. Give it a try. You won't be sorry.
We used to tear up the dancefloor with this song in the clubs in the early 80s!!!! I used to love listening to this at Backstreet in Ft. Lauderdale. The bass and keyboards on this from those speakers just drove the crowd....and the lights, happy people, bartenders that made you laugh!!! SO Many Great Memories wfrom this song!!!! And yes Amber - he was Very sultry and loved!!!!
this really really take me back this was played all time around my home in 80' george benson one cool dude.
I have seen him concert a few times in the 80’s he’s really good
Stormy days? It's time for summer! "Cliff Richard & The Shadows - Summer holiday"😀
I am so lucky to have been one of generation to have lived through the times when George Benson & Stevie were producing tracks like this.
