games still not optimized for this new graphic. also drivers have many optimization fixes to come. you can always shut down the max and stay only with the Xe, as MAX's laptops contain both MAX and none MAX GPU's
My Samsung Galaxy Book has both graphics chips. Every time I set a game to use the Max, the screen turns to a rainow colored pixelated mess. Switch back to the normal xe and it looks fine, but frame rate is crap, screen rearing, skips and stutters. Just an awful experience really.

This would prevent many software problems and could take intel the tittle of the strongest igpu. edit: in video editing and stuff, the igpu and dgpu should work together. but this makes it somewhat complicated on the software part. you could say this is some kind of SLI but with consumer desktop this function has been abandoned. SLI used to be there for game and created a lot of trouble. the game had to be made for it. otherwise it wouldn't work. this is all the more reason that they should have made an igpu of 192eus instead of an igpu and dgpu.
I would not do that. The Iris XE MAX is HORRIBLE yet. Drivers are at a terrible state. In my benchmarks with the first available XE MAX Laptop Premiere rendered SLOWER with the XE MAX than with the XE only. Blender didnt even bother to render at all. And games we're slower than the Iris XE (non Max) all along. Check out my videos concerning the Iris XE and the DELL Inspiron 15. I'm adressing those issues there.

All intel has to do is make it a dgpu built into all OEM mobos and Its pretty much a done deal. This iris XE just needs it own ram and not shared ram and its a monster. Thats the only thing holding it back.

There is no solution to fix your problem. Actually the intel iris xe max is weaker than the original iris and the gtx. Thats why your laptop going slow.

I read a article on the Irsi XE MAX on PCMag and it looks like the MAX is meant for editing, streaming, content creation and etc. We will see if the MAX out perform the Xe with later driver support and I can't wait what Intel got in store to show their upcoming discrete GPU. @@pranavan4055 The xemax score test is very high, but the game experience is very bad, not as good as the xe core graphics card with 4266mhz frequency. The theoretical performance of xemax is about 50% faster than mx330, and the actual game is about 20% faster

Yeah the fps difference is due the lack of new drivers for the Max. Same happened when Xe was released like twice of improvement after driver update.

Xe max will be improved on programs like premire pro and 3d modeling softwares right now you can run xe max on laptops like acer swift 3x

That's decent results for an integrated graphics, time for an upgrade to my old 4 yr old laptop.

According to steam it requires sth like a gtx 970. So no. But maybe it will work on 720p with lowest settings....

I think thermal throttling is also playing a tole why the XE Max is worse. The IRIS XR laptop is being allowed to reach 100 degrees celsius.
