  • I don't really get to conduct Montgomery's pieces too often, because there are just so many of them, that it's hard to choose from! But I picked this piece because it just stood out to me, and I could see myself conducting this. Montgomery dedicated this work to the amazing Canadian conductor and pianist, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, for his impact on the orchestral world, and his brilliance on the stage. This overture is based heavily on the operatic overtures of the past, and because of the different moods that it portrays, that's why it's so...well, dramatic. I hope you all enjoy! I had a blast practicing and performing it. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity, Montgomery! :) 💛
    P.S.
Towards the ending, there is a bit of background noise, as my cousin was home, and I guess she just so happened to do her things at the time of recording. I almost stopped the recording, but this is a 10-minute piece, and I was already doing so well up to that point. I felt determined enough to keep going until the end. She was the same cousin that walked in while I conducted "Imaginarium", actually. 🤷‍♂️🤣
